I did say it comes from 'science'. Pretty sure physics is one of those. (and we do use calories in biochemistry, because the energetic favourability of a reaction...I'll leave it there) edit: "Physics isn't nutrition"? Are you saying that the laws of thermodynamics don't apply to your body...? :noway:

???? Not scientifically proven???? Where does she think the whole concept of calories came from? What an idiot. Sorry to be so demeaning, but it's true...her whole argument is based on anecdotes/opinion.
-
Hahah. Well, good luck to him getting a 'hot blonde' with that attitude. Good riddance.

Just keep an eye on the calories. Is it over your goal? Then no, you didn't overeat. Food is fuel - don't be afraid to nourish your body.
-
Your brain ONLY uses glucose for fuel with the exception of when it uses ketones when glycogen stores are out. Fats are important for membrane synthesis and vitamin absorption, though!
-
That doesn't make any sense. If you consume fat in the morning, you'll burn (or rather, oxidise) that fat for energy. If you consume carbs, your body will burn those. Not your body fat. Unless you're in a caloric deficit in which case it would be doing anyway, regardless of ketosis or anything else.
-
Probably yes. The goal photos you showed had more muscle (broader arms etc) so you'll need to eat at surplus and weight train to build your muscle base. Just remember that the fat gain is a side effect of your muscle goals! Also, you'll burn more calories if you're carrying more muscle so it will make losing the fat easier…

It'll be before 4pm SOMEWHERE in the world. Enjoy your rice.

Thanks for all your help! So, this is going to take a little longer than I expected when getting to maintenance, but I suppose it'll be worth it. Sadly, I'm pretty much stuck with my gym as I bought a really cheap year membership and can't really afford anywhere else. I'll try going at different times - haven't been…

A few months? Goodness, I hadn't expected it to be that protracted - but what you say makes sense. Thanks for your input! Do you have any ideas re my other questions e.g. machines vs free weights..?

Keep it cool. It happened, but that was earlier, and now you're out of the binge you have the chance to take control. Make yourself some goals for the rest of the day. Studying - break it up into small targets, an hour here, half an hour there - to keep it manageable. Reward yourself after you've achieved a certain amount.…

whoops nevermind

I hate being 'skinny fat', I know an ED will probably have lowered my amount of lean muscle mass, but I'm too anxious about fat gain and the intimidating free weights section of the gym to start a bulk. And this is ALL MY OWN STUPID FAULT.
-
Yep, half price boxes half an hour before close, just the best

I always considered sushi to be low-calorie. I mean, just look at places like Itsu. They've built their reputation around selling low-calorie food ('eat beautiful') and they're primarily a sushi place.

Cheesecake, duh. http://www.thepancakeprincess.com/2014/01/08/healthy-cheesecake/

I used ephedrine and caffeine when I was struggling with an ED. Initially very effective but just progressed to significantly worsening my anxiety, giving me palpitations, increasing frequency of panic attacks, etc. You certainly feel more energetic and lose your appetite but it comes at an uncomfortable cost. I wouldn't…

When you're at such a low BF%, breasts kind of...evaporate. So it might be that these women prefer the shape that fake boobs give them in clothes (even if they look 'artificial' during competitions etc). Or maybe they just like them.

Well, that's one way to discipline his daughter...by humiliation.

Bump, cheesecake-filled strawberries are often pretty okay on calories (especially if you make sugar free/lower fat cheesecake)

Do you really think they're looking? If (and I'm assuming you're straight, here) a man you found attractive was in the changing rooms undressing, would YOU stare? They'd have to be gay plus have no idea of normal social boundaries to do that. And I'd be worried about the latter quality rather than the former.
-
I'm bisexual. I do my best to respect other people's privacy and avoid looking at people in the communal changing rooms - it's not cool to ogle people in a state of undress. And I'm certainly not going to make any advances on people who are showering/changing...that's just creepy. It does make ME a bit uncomfortable…

Only ever had one break-up but I became underweight afterwards because I got so depressed that my appetite just seemed to evaporate. Not the best way to do it!

Weetabix is great! They ran a lot of adverts with the different things you can do with it. Some are on the site. I personally like sliced banana and maybe pouring yoghurt instead of milk. http://www.weetabix.co.uk/customise-your-cereal

Do you take enough rest days? Could be that your muscles are constantly retaining water during healing and when you take 2-3 days off, that weight reduces. You will still see progress with 1-2 rest days a week and it should help your performance, too (just eat accordingly). edit: I think you also need to be at a caloric…

If you ARE eating a balanced diet and have no known deficiencies, you realise that too much of these vitamins can be really, really bad for you...? I'd track your vitamin intake on here with your food so you know what you really need. Anything in excess is bad news and the likelihood is that you can get enough of most of…

Great advice here. If none of that works, how about telling you her how you feel in song format? https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_484793&feature=iv&src_vid=9zI3_pnUU3k&v=EuJzSTNDUGI

I was just thinking this. All of the almond/soy milks I've ever bought (not lactose intolerant, mind you, just like the taste) have been enriched with calcium and other vitamins. So it would be a fairly easy switch if you didn't fancy the pills.

It doesn't really matter if you're judgemental. Maybe it'll make you feel better about yourself. It's only going to be a problem if you're open about it. Keep the smugness within you = no issue.
