You need energy to build muscle (it's anabolic) - hence you NEED a surplus. There is such a thing as 'recomping' which is slowly losing fat and adding muscle but it takes a long, long time.

I'm guessing you have AdBlock Plus.

Why not decrease your cardio to 3x a week, add in a little bit of heavy lifting and then you can do some walking on the other days? Walking might not sound like much but it's great low-impact cardio if you do enough of it and although it doesn't equate to a rest day, you'll recover more quickly whilst still burning…

I have eaten 5 bananas at once on a binge before. Damn those banana trees and their addictive crap.

This is me. I don't keep 'junk' (read: very calorie-dense and probably delicious) food in the house because I know I will demolish it, but I'm willing to spend a little extra on a mini chocolate bar or a single-serving 'something' on a given day because I know that there is no binge potential there.

Don't know if you get it in the US but I use Myprotein and it works just fine, tastes pretty good too. I pay just under £30 (say $46 as it's roughly £28 with my student discount) for 2.5kg which is equivalent to 50x50g - it's cheaper if you buy even more though. 50g is 2x scoops or 40g protein per 2 scoops.

Use a gentler cleanser. Use a flannel to wash your face with. Always moisturise your skin after washing it, with SPF if possible. I started doing these three things and they calmed my skin down in a major way. ETA: Oh yeah. And change your pillowcases regularly & sleep with your hair tied back from your face. I don't buy…

I totally agree with this.

Just constant emollients (Dermol is great), replacing soap with lotions you can get from the doctor - some people find by cutting various things out from the diet you may identify a trigger (see 'elimination diets'). Have you had a patch test to check for allergies? Mine is mostly gone now and although it does occasionally…

I quite like it with Caesar dressing mixed in. Or rice vinegar.

+1 If you make sauces, soups etc it's quite easy to get a large number of portions in - there's no need to stuff yourself full of plain vegetables every day.

This happened to me! ETA: I was eating 2-4 cans of tuna a day, though.

Yes, this looks great! I'll join you.

It might be worth doing something to distract yourself whilst eating, e.g. watching television, so that you don't end up ruminating over last night's experience. It's important that you try not to dwell on it as that rumination can in turn lead to more anxiety. And as above, do everything to get yourself in a good place…

Any food works in terms of loss if it fits your calorie goal. But it might be useful for you to track macronutrients too (carbs, fat, protein) for adequate nutrition. You can change your macronutrient goals - for example, mine are set at 40/30/30 carbs/fat/protein, but see what works for you. Try working more vegetables…

I can be underweight and I'll still see fat, fat, fat, fat. Mirrors are stupid and it's a lot easier to trust numbers!

This happened to someone I know who was on the mini-pill (Cerazette) - for most people, it will reduce periods or remove them altogether but my friend was bleeding for something like 60 days (!). Might be worth asking your doctor about your birth control. I don't know from the PCOS side of things!

Chia jam!

Honestly, I'd just continue with the squats and lunges. More leg activation will burn more calories it'll be easier to lose with that burn supporting your caloric deficit. Don't worry about your legs getting bulky - 1) you're female, so gaining muscle is a difficult process anyway due to lack of testosterone & 2) you're in…

Orthorexia! If it's getting in the way of your life and/or is negatively affecting your mental health, that's when it is a problem.

I meant from the 1900 that she's been given!! Thanks for clarifying, though :)

Things like canned tuna/salmon can be a cheap-ish source of protein if you can't afford shakes or other meats.
-
If you're in a deficit as MFP will have set you for weight loss, you won't be gaining muscle. Don't worry! Not that gaining muscle is a bad thing. See above.

Keep at it for a couple of weeks and don't be afraid to drop your intake by maybe 100kcals a week until you start losing (if the amount you're on keeps you gaining). ETA: from the 1900kcal you've been given from the calculator. Sorry, this post was misleading!

+1 ETA: this blog post explains better than I can http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Azdak/view/hrms-cannot-count-calories-during-strength-training-17698

I feel a bit less gross and full if I drink a protein shake than if I eat the equivalent protein. Plus, they're tasty. I do use other sources but shakes are easiest for me.

You look ridiculously good. Congratulations - on the loss AND the new baby!
