Yeah, but when you factor in the calories from chewing it, it amounts to practically nothing.

I'm not too sure about sugar intake, but you should definitely try to get to 1200 calories/day. At first, you might lose weight but anything lower than 1200 for a sustained period of time can drive your body into starvation mode (in which case your metabolism would slow down, making it much more difficult to lose weight).

Hummus is a great source of protein! You also can't go wrong with Tabbouli or Fattoush (Lebanese Salad). Most foods are light, but you should go easy on the pita bread or try substituting it for a whole wheat alternative.
