  • I played squash for the first time yesterday, and already feel addicted. Bought a racket today and began begging people to play ASAP! Cant wait to get back in the court. I sweated buckets yesterday - so much fun!
  • First congrats on starting lifting and I hope you stick with it :) Im wondering if there are no replies on this because you are asking for lengthy replies based on peoples entire programs. Could you maybe tell us what exactly you are doing and we can critique that? My general advice is that you shouldnt rock up at the gym…
  • I would say if you are early on you wont have to worry too much with the fine tuning of the numbers if you are at a calorie deficit, and as you get on you will learn more about what works for you. But ye likely up the protein, drop the carbs, and fiddle that on training days.
  • Yes this. On weeks you think your body isnt changing and you still hit a PR for weight or just reps you know you are moving in the right direction. Oh and the programs I have mentioned dont cost anything other than a gym membership. Just google them. One other thing not mentioned is that muscle can make you look a bit…
  • The reason I recommend picking an established program (starting strength or stronglifts) is because they are put together by people with a lot of experience and knowledge. You should pick one and follow it to the letter for at least 2-3 months and see how you are going. Worth maybe just one or two sessions a couple weeks…
  • 1. Go check out the women lifting heavy thread on success stories. 2. Try starting strength or stronglifts. You wont look like a body builder, again see 1. 3. Ditch the DVDs and pick up (heavy) weights.
  • Wow amazing work! You really look great. Keep it up! You talk a about the size difference but tell us how you feel! More energy? Happy? Great motivation :)
  • I agree with tenkesh start something like stronglifts or starting strength and you will see a good difference. But you can definitely see the hard work you have put in, keep it up.
  • Hey man, I have my top surgery on the 29th Aug so I am thinking a similar thing. Just trying to get myself into the best shape possible so that I dont have to be too hard on myself when I have to take a few weeks off. Got to take care of yourself first and not rush things. Good luck with everything.
  • I have had the polar FT4 for about 6months, bought it from Amazon for £50. It was worth paying that little bit more than a basic one for. I would highly recommend it. Very easy to use.
  • Hi, I wouldnt worry too much about whether you are getting your knees as high as theirs, that will come with time, and also dont worry about keeping up, just keep going at your pace and you will see results, maybe next time round you will keep up. As long as you are pushing yourself you will be improving. I dont know about…
  • Regards working out motivation, it just needs to be something you do regardless. I sometimes think I am too tired, I have done too much already today but you just have to push through and do your best anyway, I take a note next to my other workout notes (eg heart rate and calories) that I wasnt feeling great so I can look…
  • I have had this downloaded for a while and have never really got around to doing it. I was thinking of starting it soon but I am in the middle of moving so it is unlikely I will be able to get it consistent until around mid June :( But I would love to stalk your progress and join in halfway!
  • Thats a very broad question and I am no expert. I agree with the above poster that you want to check in with a doctor and a trainer, or even just a gym induction. Are you looking to do strength training or looking for general weight training? I assume with 200 to lose you would be looking to do modified exercises. Also…
  • Hells yes! Looking fab, keep it up!
  • I totally agree that sweetners dont taste the same but I made the switch (with tea, I take my coffee with no sugar or sweetner) and now I prefer it. Have you tried just gradually weaning yourself off? Just very gradually take a little less so maybe over a month or two you get down to none? Or start by mixing sugar and…
  • I think what I liked best about it was when I tried the go out and run method, I was running for about 5mins before walking then maybe making it another 5mins before thinking I've had enough. What c25k has done for me was get me out for half an hour straight off, ye only running less than half that time but I felt like I…
  • Thanks everyone. @njcre8ive I will take your tips on board. Whilst I am usually in my cal range I probably do have too many carbs, although I try to make them good ones. And ye I might ask my doctor for some more advice next time I am in.
  • bump? Can anyone help??
  • Ye I am a 21 year old ftm in the UK.
  • Hi! I'm a trans guy living in the UK. Started T about 10months ago, struggling to keep the weight off, I have never worked out more or eaten healthier in my life but T has made it a real challenge. Want to get buff for top surgery, hopefully later this year!
  • Dont give up! I wonder if there is something you can do about your knees. Are you wearing good running shoes? Have you tried running on softer surface?
