Is your fiber what's naturally contained in whole foods? Or a fiber supplement? If it's a supplement, try switching to foods that contain that amount of fiber and some of your protein--beans are a good choice (add a pinch of ginger while cooking to de-gas) and see if you can get your calorie count to 11- or 1200. I…

The body of evidence that food is a bonafide addiction is growing. Even the sight of food can trigger the release of the same anticipatory peptides that a cocaine user does when s/he sees a mound of white poweder (whether it's coke or not, interestingly enough). Here's where the abstinance-because-there's-no-cure programs…

I used to use Livestrong and SparkPeople but found a lot of variations. The USDA has a PDF of generic foods so if you don't eat a lot of meals out, it's presumably pretty reliable. Here's the URL: www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/Data/SR17/wtrank/sr17a208.pdf

I was stuck at 160/161 for 4 whole months. What turned the tide for me was reducing fat calories. I upped my complex carbs, cut out almost all refined sugar and lowered the fatty foods. Voila! I started losing again. Makes sense--if you eat 100 carb calories, it takes about 25 calories to turn 'em into fat. You eat 100 fat…

It's definitely worth a try. I know I was just about to give up when I came across an article with the percentages. I thought--hey! Why not? And it worked. Woo-hoo!

Tops, no. Dress pants (meaning expensive), I wait 'til I go down 2 sizes and take them to be altered. If you look around, you can find a good tailor with volume discounts. Mine takes in pants for $8/pair becasue I bring her all of them at once. The regular price is only $12 or 14, depending on whether they have pockets or…

If you've got a blender, you can make adult "baby food." Just dump anything in that doesn't have bones or cartilage, add a little water and zoom. Dinner smoothies...I did this when my hubby had to get dentures and it worked just fine.

Morning--for me there's no faster way to gain weight than to eat at night. I can have the same number of calories and roughly the same amount of fat but if I eat in the morning it seems to burn off better. When I stopped eating a meal after 7:30, the weight really started to come off. I did get hungry at night at first but…

The easiest way to learn to do a headstand I ever heard of was yoga. From the headstand to the handstand is fairly easy, once you've mastered that balance-upside-down thing, which basically has to do with how far to let your legs move. If you don't have spotters, just do your handstand against the wall. And yes, put a…

I agree with Fatbuster 205. I started losing weight in late February and hit a plateau in June that lasted until late October. It seems your body has to adjust to a new "set point" or average weight. Once it's convinced you're not starving, it starts dropping pounds again. Hang in there!

If your daily calorie goal was already low enough for you to lose weight, you will still lose weight at that rate if you eat the calories you added back to your total by exercising. If you don't eat them back, you'll create a greater calorie deficit and lose a few more ounces. Hope this helps.

Not all carbs are created equal. Any carbs with refined sugar and flour are going to increase "silent inflammation" in the body. This increases cortisol levels which causes you to crave carbs and boom! You're in a vicious cycle. (The increased cortisol is the number one factor for adding the infamous "spare tire.") Whole…

Well, if time is more of an issue than money, throw any meat on your Foreman, open a bag of salad greens, throw in fresh veggies chopped by the store (they do lose some vitamin content, especially C) and 'wave some veggies. Frozen have less salt and chemicals than canned. One of my favorites is smoked salmon, fat free…
