  • Would exercising hard make you gain weight?
  • Funny you should post this...I gained 6 pounds over the last 3 days. And no, there is no way I ate in excess of 21000 calories I DID have two restaurant meals, which accounts for some sodium Other than that? I got nothing But frustration? Yeah, I got that
  • Happens all the time to me....in fact, I get measured tomorrow and I'm expecting my weight to be up due to muscle gain. One thing that has been helpful is that I get my fat free mass vs fat mass measured. Two months ago, I gained 2 pounds for the month - but it was because of gaining 3 pounds of muscle while losing 1 pound…
  • I routinely get 30+a day, without any thought Feel free to look at my diary.
  • Wow...and I thought I was the only one. People talk about 'comfort foods' for me, a comfort food is to not eat, anything. And enjoy being hungry. Something about that hunger pain takes my mind off what ever is upsetting me. The problem, of course, is that this is not optimal if you are going to work out an hour/2 hours a…

  • By telling myself every day that this is the new lifestyle, this is the new me, going back is not an option. I've had two doctors look at my lower spinal column and both were very frank and even brutal -- if I am part of the huge percentage of people that regain the weight I've lost, my discs cannot and willnot handle that…
  • I was on Lexapro (along with other meds) and found it nearly impossible to lose weight -- even when I was 260 and working out 60 - 90 minutes a day and eating 1600 calories a day. It took me 8 weeks to lose 5 pounds. Once I went off the Lexapro the weight started coming off - and once I went off Nexium - the weight fell…
  • they get very fluffy, no extra oil, and they cook quickly! What's not to love?
  • Maybe ... but you also may shoot through sizes. I don't remember ever being an 18 or 16. It's like I went from 20 to 14 in a period of less than a month. Then I stayed at 14 for about 3 months, then skipped 12 and went to 8/10 The body will surprise you what it does, and it is SO not linear!
  • 5'3" 165 pounds Waist - size 10 Hips - size 6/8 Thighs - size 6 Tops - medium As you can see, I'm pretty boxy shaped. I have a very hard time with pants, so i wear a whole lot of dresses with tights. No complaints though - I'm down from 258 at my heaviest where I was a 24/26 - 2X
  • I'll be honest.... It took you YEARS to get to this weight. In the process you picked up bad habits both in eating and thinking. It will take you YEARS to correct this situation. IF you have the fortitude to stick it out. And that's a big if. Let me tell you the truth that few of us want to talk about. There is good stuff…
  • I'm down to my last 10 pounds also. Started out with about 100 to lose, then realized that was somewhat unrealistic. However, 10 more? Yeah, it's doable. I'm towards the end of a 6 month hiatus from dieting. The goal was to neither lose nor gain from September to March, and pretty much that has been successful. At the…
  • SO glad you posted this...yep, sure enough I'm seeing this also. However, I notice it especially happens after exercise - no matter how fueled up I am. STILL can happen, with NO warning.
  • In a word, yes. And i'm on my 3rd try. Let me tell you, if it's tougher the 2nd, it's BRUTAL the 3rd. On the plus side, it's been so difficult this time, I can never let this happen again. Honestly do not think I could do this ever again. Keep strong... be patient...keep moving
  • I'm going to throw out an idea my personal trainer shared with me.... When you do crunches, make sure you are pulling your midsection in. She was telling me that some people let it pooch out and what happens is you train the muscles to pooch out and you end up with a midsection decidely NOT toned. She said she'd seen it…
  • If I could figure out how to log pictures, I'd do so, but here is my story. In June 2011, at 49 years old, I weighed about 250 pounds. I decided I was sick of my weight. Starting with 30 minute classes and a personal trainer, the weight came off s.l.o.w.l.y, very slowly. Fast forward to January 2013. I now weight right at…
  • I started at size 24/258 pounds. I'm currently at size 6/8/160 pounds It's hard, but can be done. Take one day at a time and remember it's the long haul that works.
  • Lost muscle probably because I only did strength training one time, and since I'm nursing bicep tendintis and a piriformis issue, so many exercises are off the table right now. Looking forward to healing and getting back into my regular routine
  • You are right, I was tracking intake very very loosely, as in "how many calories are in a bottle of wine? Don't know, don't care" :)
  • We should go together --- a control group so to speak :)
  • EDIT: Lastly, you could have just been eating in a calorie deficit. Doesn't sound like it, but it's also an explanation. [/quote] I eat about 1800 calories a day, and work off about 700 - give or take. Doesn't that qualify as a deficit?
  • Forgot to mention the Tanita scale at the gym showed the weight loss to be 3.4 pounds of fat and 1.4 pounds of muscle.
  • I don't know...I just shared my experience and the resultant explanation from an expert. But something happened I was 164.4 the day I left. I was 159.6 the day I came back
  • it wasnt' my doctor that gave me this information. It was a professor at my daughter's medical school (which is Emory Med in Atlanta, GA) Something has to explain the sudden weight loss - - you have a better idea than a medical school professor whose speciality is nutrition? Please share
  • It may sound like that.. However, what I say is what happened.
  • We were the next week....too much fun huh? I want to go back so bad
