  • I've been on a kombucha kick. I'm brewing my own at home. Today I had some mango flavored - YUM. And perfect carbonation
  • Mm I've been making banana pancakes lately when I do breakfast for dinner. I top them with more sliced bananas and pecans. So good.
  • I am not vegan but I eat mostly plant based. I also live in a non-vegan household. My husband is a meat and potatoes type of guy. Depending on what we're having for dinner, sometimes I will eat some meat if it's too difficult to make my portion animal free. I love eating this way!
  • If you like eggs you can cook up a big batch on Sunday and just heat it up throughout the week.
  • I like minimalist baker (blog) and rainbow plant life (youtube and blog). I eat mostly plant based. I eat lots of beans and grains like rice, quinoa and farro. Obviously lots of veg. I tend to just throw *kitten* together and call it a salad which I eat every day for lunch because I'm boring (my husband makes fun of me for…
  • In general you need to eat more when you are pregnant (not that much more, only a few hundred extra calories) but I know doctors tend to have different "rules" for people who are overweight or obese. So I would check with your dr.
  • A calorie is a unit of energy. For weight loss, a calorie is a calorie, but obviously some foods are better at keeping you full longer, and they all have different nutrient profiles... I think metabolism typically goes down as you age due to muscle and bone loss, not to say living a healthy active lifestyle can't combat…
  • They make oreo thins. I don't know the calorie content of them though. I would try to learn how to eat things you enjoy in moderation.
  • I've been eating a plant based diet for a little while now and I love it. I love how I can eat a huge amount of food and it's not that many calories. I haven't been counting calories and my weight isn't going up, even with my giant portions. I love that I discovered eating this way. Just ate a big salad with greens, chick…
  • I think I like him. Haven't watched too many of his videos. He is a supporter of a whole food plant based diet. I also like the daily dozen check list.
  • I would just focus on getting more activity in throughout the day. I assume you do a lot of walking already. I do a short-ish yoga practice in the evening after I put my kids to bed.
  • I think the most ethical thing you can do is grow or raise as much as you can yourself, and shop local as much as you can. I wish it were more mainstream for neighborhoods to have community gardens. I live in a typical suburban neighborhood where everyone has a yard full of pointless grass lol. Why don't all the neighbors…
  • That sounds really good - I never thought to put preserves in my oats. I will be trying that tonight
  • I don't eat breakfast - but i like do breakfast for dinner a lot. I usually eat fried potatoes/veggies, and banana pancakes
  • I had sweet potato, pinto bean and walnut tacos last night. Topped w/ guac, cilantro and lime juice. (husband had ground beef instead)
  • Lots of non starchy vegetables?? It can help to fill up half your plate with those because they take up a lot of volume and don't have many calories. So if you're having pasta for dinner, remove half your portion and replace it with broccoli (for example). Everyone is different though. I would suggest looking at the…
  • What are you eating? I eat a plant based diet therefore lots of fiber, and I poop at least once a day... fiber is only in plant foods so if your diet consists of a lot of meat and dairy that could explain why your BM's aren't very regular
  • my husband would literally just go to mcdonalds if I made a vegan meal for him at home :s He won't even try it lol. He's so stubborn.
  • I just cube them and roast in the oven with olive oil salt and pepper. I love sweet potatoes though. I've been eating them in my salads the last few weeks for lunch.
  • Here is mine... I make this a lot. Involves mostly pantry ingredients so it's easy to throw together when you don't have anything else planned, but you can obviously add vegetables, greens, meat, beans etc if you want. I make this on a weekly basis for my son who is still doing virtual school.…
  • I did a thai inspired curry recipe that involved chickpeas and butternut squash. I also do quesadillas with chickpeas. I tend to throw chickpeas in things just to bulk them up in general, so soups, curries, etc. Here are two recipes that I like: https://rainbowplantlife.com/thai-butternut-squash-chickpea-curry/…
  • My tacos are usually some type of bean and some chopped walnuts, which I know is kind of weird, but I like the crunch (I use soft tortillas, not the crunchy ones). Topped with guacamole, pico, cilantro and lime juice. I think that's pretty healthy. I have been on a mango kick so me and my kids will share a mango as well.…
  • I think I eat avocado every day... Mostly I just throw it on my salad or whatever I'm eating. I put it on my black bean soup. I have made a chickpea salad sandwich with it (mashed up avocado and slightly mashed up chickpeas) with some other things like onion and celery, seasonings. lemon or lime juice. So kinda like a tuna…
  • Depends what the butter is being used for. You can use a plant based butter, or oil. But they are all equally high in fat and calories, so I don't see that making a difference as far as weight loss goes. If you're just sauteing with it, you can use water or broth instead to cut out the extra calories.
  • I put roasted sweet potato cubes in my black bean soup, so alternatively I could make black bean soup and use that to top my sweet potato with. Also some guacamole and pico/tomatoes or corn salsa as well. yum. This is more of a dessert or snack, but I've also topped my sweet potato with sliced banana and drizzled with…
  • I am vegan now, however I did not go vegan overnight. I went more of a transition approach, starting with swaps and my lunch/snacks, and eating our "regular food" for dinner. My husband still eats meat, so nowadays dinner is more complicated, but worth it to me. Being vegan doesn't really guarantee a healthy diet, there is…
  • Vegan. Not for weight loss or health, more for ethical reasons, although I do believe my diet is much healthier than it used to be. I just try to create somewhat balanced meals that include some type of protein, a grain, vegetables, some sort of fat, and I eat some type of leafy greens every day.
  • I think a lot of advice that is given out to the masses it intended to appeal to most people... I don't think counting calories is "the norm". It obviously works for all of us but we're the ones taking the time to comment in the myfitnesspal forum. I don't think it works well for a lot of people and can lead to obsessive…
  • Running, walking, yoga
