Love this! great attitude!

That depends on your definition of elite. Am I elite because I run marathons? Maybe. To do my best doing so means I have to aim to eat 2200 calories a day (believe it or not that's weight loss territory for marathon trainers) and cut out unhealthy fats and snacks in favour of many carb based meals. It's a choice that I…

it's a sun star! it's related to a star fish, we found them in our crab pots when fishing off the coast of BC last summer and I HAD to take this picture (though my husband gagged) they're so cool!

glad I'm not the only one! now if only we could get some of the newbies to embrace this principle...

I posted a blog post on this topic, have a read! Right now I use the Freya Sport (I run marathons and it keeps my 32Gs under control) but if you want maximum compression the Enell Sports bras are good. Sports bras are an investment, save up and buy a good one!
-
I'm a 32G and as such I can feel your pain! (I have a 30 inch waist, but 40" hips as well so I get the whole hour glass issue of neither pants nor tops being flattering in some cases.) But the tricks that I have found are these: 1) Invest in good bras. They're expensive but they're necessary, a well fitted underwire that…

Hello All! I'm Mira and apparently one of the very few people who migrated to Ottawa from Western Canada instead of Eastern Canada. Originally from small town Alberta I came out here for University and never left (my darling Husband may have something to do with that). My 7 years of university led to a rapidly growing…

short form of my first name (Mira) and my maiden name (cole) which is now one of my middle names (legally changed over) until I was married, I was a miracole...now I'm so much much more ;)

I logged everything I put into my mouth, took notice when I was getting close to my limits and then put the fork down. I also actively thought about what I was eating and how it would fit into my daily calorie allotment. I combined this with a hella lot of exercise because it allowed me to eat more of the stuff that I…

chocolate milk = excellent long run recovery fuel. Protein, Calcium and carbs? bring on the dairy!

I don't so much snack as eat like a hobbit. First breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch... I'd say I'm up somewhere around 500-1000 calories in the in between meals, but it's counteracted by my high activity levels (marathon and triathlon training)

I make fabulous cakes and cupcakes: http://www.facebook.com/MiraColeCakes I also sing with a choir (and love some solo work!), play piano, knit, sew, draw, take pictures, write and I did about 50 DIY projects for my wedding (centrepieces, pomanders, sock monkeys as ring pillows, wish trees, photo walls etc etc etc) if it's…

For the other Canadians out there, Booster Juice (or any smoothie store really) can be a terrible choice when you think you're "eating healthy". The High Impact Acai smoothie has 540.6 calories in a 24oz smoothie, and 12.9g of fat. The Canadian Colada weighs in at 532 calories and 9.1g of fat. The worst part is that…

he may be morally bankrupt, but I certainly can't bike like that- blood doping or no! I have to respect the accomplishment if not the method of achieving it. It's kind of the same way I feel about the guys who go for the home run record while on steroids, I don't respect them necessarily as people, but I probably couldn't…

I'm sorry but if someone loves you they need to love ALL of you, warts and all. You aren't always going to be perfectly formed; people get old and wrinkly, they get fat, they have bad hair days, they lose their hair, they may get hurt and get scars but that is not who they are, that's what they look like and it's entirely…

I can see that what you're going through is quite aggravating for you, and reaching out is very important, as is the support of the people who are closest to you. I'm going to attempt to give you a bit of perspective here though so please forgive me if this is not what you want to hear. First, You're 18, you're an adult.…

bananas for potassium and iron enriched bran cereals. Even if you don't love the calories in cereal the high fibre makes it worth it! oh and broccoli can be a good source of iron.

comfortably wearing size 8 dress pants (started at a size 14/16) - this is the smallest size I've worn since reaching adulthood!

congratulations! that's such a great feeling! :D

I set goals that have nothing to do with my weight and measurements. For example: I am 34km into swimming the equivalent distance of the widest part of the English Channel (and have so far rewarded myself with $68.10 in a piggy bank which will, when I have swum the equivalent distance, fund a trip to England- $0.10 per…

can your fiance's grandfather perform the ceremony for you in a small chapel? There is no such thing as a typical wedding anymore, you have to do what will make you most happy when you reflect back on your day. If you want it small? have it small, a couple of friends of mine had their weddings in the courtyard of a…

your only failure is if you allow one bad weekend to be your excuse to quit. Everyone has the binge days. That's life. I had a binge 2 weeks over Christmas and it was kind of glorious though I felt like a blob afterward! It's for days like that that I rely on the idea of penance exercise. Eat whatever you like but then…

it's your birthday! Eat what you love most and screw the calories! (or exercise first to give yourself a good calorie berth) I make a lot of cakes (side business) so if you're looking for visual ideas check out my site: http://www.facebook.com/MiraColeCakes and am always happy to share recipes- toss me a message with your…

I definitely snack at night, even if it is the 5 minutes leading up to going to bed. But then again I also tend to do quite a bit of exercise at night (for example used my spin bike for 90 minutes last night starting at 8:45pm) and my long runs are always Saturday mornings so I carb load as necessary the night before both…

I'm in Ottawa! often seen discovering new areas of the city while pounding the pavement with my favourite running shoes. Feel free to add me!

so no chemical preservatives? Hope you live somewhere that grows food year round or your sodium levels are going to go through the ROOF  oh wait...NaCl is a chemical compound...hrm...
-
I replace my shoes every 500-600km (so every 300-400 miles approx) or whenever I feel that I'm not getting the traction or support that I need. Is a bit trickier now that I've moved to minimalist shoes but the rule of thumb still applies. If you're feeling your foot strike to the point that you're really noticing it when…

I did my first sprint triathlon last year and this year would like to get a couple more under my belt, including an olympic distance. Running is my strongest skill (not fast but determined), biking probably my second strongest and swimming is where I held all my fear! I'd done most of my swimming in the pool and so the…

ooh feel free to add me! I love to run and long distances are my favourite! I've finished 2 marathons and 6 halves so far, have another half in 16 days and 2 marathons already scheduled for the year (and a couple more halves). I logged over 1500km last year (keep track because I'm running the equivalent distance of my home…

11 days and haven't even been tempted to have a burger yet! just 354 to go
