Just remember to eat right while you attempt this, you need to properly fuel for the couch, potato chips and full sugar pop is best so that you quickly enter the "food coma" it will really increase your on the couch endurance.

Greatest feeling ever! love it! keep running :D

Wait on it till you're ready, 3 months between first half and full marathon is NOT enough training time. Especially if you've had setbacks on your half training. You don't want to push too hard and hurt yourself. Let me know if you want marathon training tips, I'm running my 4th in 3 weeks and have a good program to follow.

I did exactly what you're doing last year, Army run as a training run for the Niagara Falls International Marathon. I LOVE the Army run, it's my favourite half marathon, I've run it three times now. I'd be doing it again this year but I have my marathon in Dartmouth the weekend before and then we're off to Edmonton for a…

Never ignore pain, it's your body's way of telling you to take a break or seek treatment. Definitely agree that you've taken on too much too soon, you've discovered a new love and like any new passion have pursued it to the greatest extent possible, which feels fabulous until it doesn't anymore. Time to start listening to…

The problem is the new standard that has been set. The average number of home runs in a season now is about 5000. Compare that with the average of 3000 in the 70s or less than 2000 in the 50s. Who wants to pay MLB prices for games where you'd see less than a third the average home runs hit in comparison to what you get…

I ran my first marathon at 231lbs (I'm 6'). So in a word? No. Get out there and do your best!

I'm afraid that the sharing of Poutine is an element of a traditional marriage ceremony in Canada. You may want to give up the dream unless you're prepared to be tied for life to one of the locals, and are able to supply the bride's family with 50 beaver pelts and a life time supply of maple syrup and ketchup chips.

Actually, recent studies have indicated that Canadians are the next step in the evolutionary chain. It must be true, I read it on the internet.

I've used both the Enell line (which are good but on long distance runs can lead to chafing) and currently am using the Freya line. I really like them but am always willing to change it up if I find something superior. A good sports bra is DEFINITELY worth the price you pay for them, I recommend going to a good boutique…

Trust me, people are more impressed that you're out there than anything. I've come to realize that at most gym classes people spend 90% of their time trying to make sure that they look their best while doing the exercises, and 10% actually listening to the class instructor, they don't have any focus left to give those…

Everyone who runs knows the struggle of plowing through that last half mile from time to time, the big success is that you got it done! Fantastic work! Keep it up, the more you run the less of a struggle it becomes :)

All arms of chairs in the house belong to Spitzy, if you have laid anything over the arm of the chair that she currently wants to sleep on she will stare at it and at you until someone removes it so that she can reclaim her territory. She drinks water by dipping her paw into the bowl and then licking it off. She must sniff…

YES you should. As a dedicated slow runner and someone who actually HAS finished a race last (my first marathon) I can tell you that every race is worth running, and there is no such thing as too slow to run a race. Honestly tons of people walk 5ks and half marathons, if you run at all you are ahead, if you don't you're…

ditto what's been said before. You can do it, just manage your expectations and make sure you focus on a gradual increase in your long runs every week. There are great training programs out there for mileage increase, just ignore the colour coding that they use to indicate the different speeds that you're supposed to aim…

You can run with your dog in the summer as well so long as you are willing to accommodate. I always make sure that our summer runs are first thing in the morning on hot days (though that's not necessarily a "cool" period where we live as it's often 25-30C by 6am). I pick running routes that cross water so that she can wade…

My german shepherd/husky/saluki mix Glacias is my #1 running partner. She has trained with me for my 3 marathons and 8 half marathons and we are currently working on marathon training session #4. We did a 27km long run Monday morning, though I usually cap her long run efforts at 32k, by that point she's pretty tired, at…

I'm probably not the best example as by the time I drag my butt out the door I am the person who wants to run straight out the gate, though I have read multiple times that static stretching pre-run can lead to muscle tears. If you're going to warm up at all do an active warmup (jumping jacks, high knees, etc) to get your…

Didn't really set a goal, but ended up burning 20634 calories! Pretty thrilled about it! :)

As a very tall and built like it person exclusion from many stores is just a way of life. Hard to find a 36inch inseam in pants anywhere, and most bra stores go MAYBE to a DD, I passed that ages ago! And then there is the ever present "this is knee length on "normal sized" people" which comes off as a mini skirt on me!…

oooh I'm in for June too! will be a good way to track, I'm heading back into Marathon training again!

haha I think what Abrams is doing can be summed up in 2 words...lens flare ;)

The only shame would be quitting before you start. You know what they say: Run if you can, walk if you must but DON'T GIVE UP!
-
Week 3: 5835 calories burned! pretty happy with it! would have been more but have become afflicted with bronchitis! stupid allergies! fingers crossed that I'm better in time to put in a good showing for my marathon this weekend!!

My Glacias loves to run more than anything, we have trained for 8 half marathons and 3 marathons together- she is a fantastic long distance runner, have never seen anything like her for endurance, the longest run we've done together is 37km. And MAN can she fly when she sprints after a ball when we play fetch!

Week 2 Calories Burned: 6110 - Now that's more like it! :D

This is a lie! She also wants to run (at least 40k a week) and for you to THROW THE BALL!

if you are having to medicate it to do it then you need to stop ignoring your body's warning signs and rest up/fix that issue before it becomes an all-out injury that puts you out for a long time. A two week rest for an ache is a LOT better than a 6 month rest for a major injury. Alternate cardio that works well: Biking,…

No specific goal for week 1, but due to a sudden heat wave and a stomach bug I missed my long run for the week, got in a respectable 3868 all told. Am planning to blow that one out of the water this next week!
