Marvellous introduction. Hope the thaw sets in before too long. By all means send a friend request if you want.

I've recently finished 'Ready Player One' by Ernest Cline and 'World Without End' by Ken Follett. I'd recommend both but especially World Without End. If you're one of these people who can hear the word 'wrestling' without sneering then I'd also recommend 'Hitman' by Bret Hart. It's a really good biog.

Barbecue. May have even involved prawns at some stage....

All the very best with achieving your objectives.

Forty seven.

My family are my motivation. That and a sudden desire to fight those forties...

Get your knee looked at. Get to the bottom of it because until you know what the issue is, you can't say whether or not you're really okay to run on it. I lost three months of running because I didn't heed the advice I'm giving you now. Then when I came back to running, it took years before I got back everything I'd lost…

I'd probably look at other options... By all means let fruit and salad be a dominating factor in your diet if you'd get some value from that, but add in a bit more variety and protein sources too. If it ends up being restrictive, it'll end up being unappealing - and then it just gets hard.

Desk job here too. I snack healthily and avoid the vending machine. I run at lunchtime when I can and make sure I go for a decent fast paced walk on the days I can't run. I take the stairs rather than the lift and, above all, I tell myself that sitting at a desk is no barrier to achieving my goals. Best of luck.

A belated 'nice work' from Australia.

In short, no.

^^ Yup.

I was able to wear a slimfit shirt and my new(er) pair of pants without feeling like my body was trying to escape!

I'm new. Hello everyone. And on that note.... yes, really great job. I hope to get to that level myself this year.

I was going to suggest yoga. Admittedly it's not the most calorie-consuming exercise though and it sounds like you're looking for a significant calorie burn?

My wife bought me a Magnum Chocolate Truffle ice block over the weekend. Without my asking her to. I contemplated divorce, then amputating a hand to compensate for the inevitable weight gain. The amputation seemed the less painful option. In the end, the Magnum was too good for me to find fault....

Welcome to Newcastle. Great place to live. If you can get a group together, count me in.

I'd be happy if I managed the following: - yoga, minimum of 2 times a week at home. - running, minimum of 2 runs and 10km a week. If I could get to a yoga class or a Parkrun to supplement that, all the better.

Welcome and good luck to you.

Congratulations on stepping out of the lurk zone. All the very best with your goals.

Keeping a sense of perspective helps keep you sane. Whatever you call it, as long as it helps more than it hurts then I don't see any harm.

Yoga utilises muscles that we don't use every day. The shaking will probably stop the longer you do yoga and the more familiar your body gets with the various positions. I agree with BusyRae and editorgrrl - yoga won't burn you the most calories but in my experience, the knock-on effect will definitely help you with your…

I find it easier to deny myself those temptation foods completely. I can't really do moderation so, as valid as the advice to allow yourself those foods in moderation is, I guess the question is whether it works for you as a person. I do understand the predicament - I've been in your situation many times before but if you…

I'm struggling on 1300. How you manage on 1200 is beyond me and I take my hat off to you for that goal. The only days where I feel there's any flexibility there are the days where I manage to get some exercise in. Of course that means that I'm buying calorie credit rather than coping on a low calorie budget, but it…

That's great commitment!

That's a negative, ghost rider....

I'm looking at buying a pair at present, actually. I run in my Merrell Barefoots and absolutely swear by them.

Go for it. Nothing to lose and the world to gain.

It's probably the lesser of the evils, but I try to avoid walking into any convenience/fast food joint. It's just easier for me the way I'm wired to stay away from them all rather than try and tell myself one's okay....
