^^ Yes, this. Very much this. Either I'm an anomaly or am extremely "lucky" or have over the years surrounded myself with amazing people who are as confident in themselves as they are in me and I am in myself but I haven't had the sabotage experience at all. Everyone around me has been incredibly supportive, from my…

Hi Ianmark. My diary is public if you'd like to have a look at it, but know that I'm on a 1200 calorie plan so to boost it to the 1800 cals you need you'd want to do things like increase the rice from 1/2 cup to 3/4 or even a whole cup, increase the meats from 100g to 150g, have a bit more cheese than the 13g I had on my…

This is a great post Hustler. Thank you for your wonderful positivity. I feel awesome too! Everything about this is awesome, even the clothing dilemma (boo hoo, now I'm going to have to buy a whole new wardrobe, awwww). Actually, wearing clown clothes/tents for the next couple of months is getting to be a bit of a…

If you aren't losing weight then you are eating more than you realise. Eating too less can be a problem too, but 'starvation mode' isn't something you need to worry about short term and if you've only just started trying to lose weight you should have seen a result. Do you weigh and measure your foods, log everything…

It's not something that's really been an issue for me before, I've done other workouts of different types and been fine. I usually steer clear of pushups though. My injury wasn't caused by any of this, it's partly due to carrying a heavy handbag on that shoulder for years (I now use a cross-body one) and partly because I'm…

Technically speaking, weightloss is all about energy consumption and expenditure. Adjusting food intake is the main factor in this. Exercise plays a part by increasing expenditure and thus giving you leeway to consume more. My concern for you is how sustainable your exercise routine will be in the long run. If you tell MFP…

Chell would be really fun! *Sigh* I really want my Hubby to do Garrus, but he's just so in love with Star Wars that it's never going to happen. :( Can't blame him for loving the classics though.

Me too. I'm doing this primarily for my health, but I'd love to look great in some N7 armor at the next convention, or at least a formal Cerberus uniform (I know, I know, but the Cerberus outfits are just so much swisher than the Alliance ones). Feel free to add me. :)

Do you eat breakfast? Here's a simple recipe that is very filling: 1/2 cup raw rolled oats 1/2 cup milk 1/2 banana a few strawberries, blueberries etc Food process until smooth. It's basically a cold porridge. If you want it thick like traditional porridge you soak the oats in the milk in the fridge overnight then blend…

It's these little things that are sometimes the most encouraging. I've noticed that my watch is a lot looser as well. I like it. :) Am starting to get a bit worried about my wedding rings getting too loose though. :P

In winter it could be two things: 1. The natural tendency of the body to want to store fat for the cold weather and/or a reaction to being cold in the first place; 2. A depressed state resulting from less sunshine. If it's the second you might want to see a doctor about your vitamin D levels as they could be depleted.…

^^ This. All of it. Absolutely.

Yes and no. When was the last time you heard someone say they'd sat down and eaten a dozen apples? The sugar in fruit, fructose, isn't processed like the sugar in cookies and things is and there is enough fibre in fruit to stop us from eating too much of it all at once. Fruit juice, even fresh, is a different story. It…

When there is a discrepancy like this I like to double check the calories on another website like calorieking or something. You can google "calories ribeye steak" and it will come up with nutritional info. Ultimately it can depend on the amount of fat in your steak - more fat = higher cals. I just googled it and it came up…

Well done losing so much so quickly! Remember that weightloss is not about cutting OUT foods as much as it is about cutting them DOWN. So instead of having a whole bowl of ice cream just have one scoop. Space out small meals instead of having a couple of huge ones and then feeling 'munchy' an hour or two later. Reach for…

Oh no! The last thing I wanted to do was bring the Dowager Countess' Ire down on myself! (Or Maggie Smith's ire which I imagine would be just as bad). I'll have to start eating more quick smart!

I think the general thinking around the advice not to is that you generally need most of your energy earlier in the day, so eating late at night means you're kinda wasting it and it's more likely to be stored, or something. But I've noticed that most of that sort of advice is to try to help people from really piling on the…

No Way!!! I'm sad now. :(

I take it you had a brief liaison with the fridge last night? Late night snacks have never been a problem for me but overall, I'd say this is decent advice. I am a fan of not eating back all my exercise calories though, so having the extra couple hundred calories around happens to me almost every day. I guess I just don't…

I think it depends on what kind of exercise you're doing, and how you classify a 'rest' day. If you're going hard core on strength exercises or heavy duty cardio then a day or two where you walk or do some yoga and relax a bit would certainly be on the cards. If you're walking for an hour a day and talking about a 'rest'…

^^ This. Yes!

^^ This, and several other things people have said, esp that this is a change for the rest of your life. I think that one of the main reasons that people 'fail' is that they see this as a temporary diet until they hit their goal and then revert to their pre-loss ways. Or they cut out certain high-cal foods or really…

Completely understand! I'm on metformin 'cause we caught me early and OMG! It's like a miracle drug! Like you I'm finally taking things seriously and am losing weight for the first time in years. Will friend you, will be good to support each other on our journeys. :)

A calorie deficit should work, even without the exercise. Are you weighing and measuring EVERYTHING and also counting all cooking oils, sodas, fruit juices, sauces, dressings etc? Could you make your diary public so that we can have a look and see if there's something that might be going on?
-
You haven't made your diary public, which makes it hard to see if there could be a problem there. I agree with everyone about weighing and measuring EVERYTHING. And don't forget that sauces, cooking oils, sodas, fruit juices etc all have LOADS of calories in them. You can easily destroy a calorie deficit with just these…

Today I'm going with my standby for when I don't have something pre-prepared to take to work. I stop by the supermarket on the way in and pick up an olive ciabatta roll, an avocado, a tomato and about 50g each of shaved turkey and jarlsburg and eat half of everything for lunch. Then I save the other half for the next day.…

About 15 lbs. Looking at everyone else's posts, that seems pretty average. :)

I usually do cardio instead of strength training, because that's just my preference so I don't know how applicable this is to your situation per se, but.... I have heard that it is good to eat something, even just something small like a half a banana or something, within half an hour after exercising. I try to schedule my…

Embarrassing, but a very valid question. I've noticed that I go a lot less too. Not constipated and do eat enough fibre etc., I just figured it's a mass-in mass-out situation. I'm not consuming as much so there's not as much to come out again. I don't think it's anything to be worried about unless it's really been a long…

I'm 5'6" does that count? I've never been considered 'short' by any standards. I've lost 28 pounds already and still have about that to go (yay for half way!).
