  • Date Distance Total To Goal (55) 2/1 3.0 Mi 3.0 52.0 Mi 2/2 Yoga I am a little nervous because this month is a big jump in mileage over last month but I also missed a week and half last month with illness. Yesterday was a little rough with to many treadmill miles and not enough on the road. Cleveland Half Marathon here I…
  • I created my half marathon training calendar for February using a mixture of Hal Higdon's Novice 1 and 2 and looks like a minimum of 53 miles if just run 3 days a week. So I think I am in for 55 miles. March - Need to find a 10k May 20 - Cleveland Marathon 8K (Maybe) May 21 - Cleveland Marathon Half June 10 - Run and Ride…
  • Yesterday was rough with a headache and dizziness that didn't go away during the run. I had planned on 5 but settled for 2 and made up 2 today. Have not done back to back days and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Tomorrow is a cross train day for core and back so that will be a good rest for my legs. I am 7 short…
  • @Katharmonic If you are asking about Cleveland Ohio. I live in that area (about 30 miles West of the City proper). Where will you be? We have some amazing Metro Park trails all around the Cleveland area.
  • @Skipper111 Welcome! There are quite a few newbies and not yet marathoners here. There is a lot of great info that is shared a lot of motivation. Congrats on you first 6.5K! That is awesome.
  • Happy Belated Birthday @MNLittleFinn !!!
  • First run after almost 2 weeks of illness and I felt really good. Unfortunately there is no way I will make my monthly goal. Oh well there is always next month. I was looking at training plans for my half and since I tend to run/walk I was checking out Jeff Galloway. His beginner plan is 2 - 30 minute runs each week and…
  • Missed my run yesterday but made it up today with a total of 5 miles. Did 2 miles easy, 1 mile is strides and 2 more miles easy. I struggled a little with the last 2 so I think next time I will do 3, 1 and 1. It was my first time doing strides and it was fun. I tried to focus on faster turn overs and keeping good form. I…
  • Took some time off this week since my legs have been sore and tired. I wanted to get out on Wednesday but my legs said no. I started working out at the gym again and doing the stuff my PT gave me to do when my Piraformis was acting up so I think that is what wore me out. All this talk of injuries ahs me nervous. It did…

  • We get reimbursed if we work out more then 144 times a year plus we use a site called Power of Vitality so we get "bucks" for being healthy, working out, going to the doctor and learning more about our health. I earned $350 last year plus what I was reimbursed for gym membership.
  • On the day before my work week begins (sometimes Saturdays sometimes Sundays) I throw a couple of pounds of boneless skinless chicken breast in a crock pot, make a few portions of brown rice and set up rice bowls for the week. I can add beans, salsa and sour cream to make chicken taco bowls or Tikka sauce to make a curry.…
  • I am also very slow and comfortable running for me on a TM is 4.7 with sprints at 6.0. Yes it sounds like stride length may be the difference but if you unnaturally lengthen your stride you may hurt your self or throw something else out of wack.
  • Got in a freezing 3.6 miles today out of a planned 4. It was a balmy 3degrees F when I got home. I think it is the last run with Neeko until it warms up, he had snow building up in his paws and got to cold. I will miss my buddy, he is good to talk to and rarely talks back. :) Date. Run. MTD 1/2 - 2 miles - 2 miles 1/4. - 4…
  • OSUbuckeye906 - Sorry to hear about your injury. I would spend the money for the MRI to find out what exactly is going on.
  • I am training for my first half marathon May 21. Part of the Cleveland Marathon Weekend. I have a back up plan of the June 11 Run and Ride Cedar Point Half.
  • First 4 mile run since my hip flexor started acting up a few months ago and it felt good. The run itself was more of a slip and slide due to all of the black ice and it was slow but I feel better since I finally had a run longer then 5k. Date. Run. MTD 1/2 - 2 miles - 2 miles 1/4. - 4 miles - 6 miles 5/21 Cleveland…
  • This is my first month back so I am going with 30 miles for January. I tentatively have my first half scheduled for May 21 (Cleveland Marathon Weekend), with a June 11 back up plan (Run and Ride Cedar Point). Have not signed up for either yet, I am waiting until last minute to see how training goes. 1/2 - 2 miles - 2 miles
  • @vandinem and @greenolivetree Love the pictures thank you for sharing them. @Orphia - Prudent. I think I need to memorize this word and it's definition. I think I am lacking in it's application. @Amandajs232 - Congrats on the longest run yet! @kristinegift - 7 weeks is a long time to finish up training for a BQ time. I…
  • Felt good this morning so I drove to work and went for a run in the park before starting. I found a new path that connects the office I am currently at to the one I was at where all the paths and trails are. It is only about 2 miles so 4 miles out and back. Not bad if I want to get a run in outside without being on the…
  • Today was supposed to be the first day of building miles again, but my hip has been sore the last 2 days. I was hoping to come back from the cut back week more rested and ready to go not sore and unable to run. But this is also why I started building for my half so soon because it isn't a big deal right now if I miss a run…
  • @RespectTheKitty - Once you try it you will be hooked. I was not a morning person, but I love getting up when it is still dark out and everything is relatively quiet and I can get a run in and just clear my head before the insanity of the day starts. Not saying I might not lay down later in the day if I get a chance and…
  • @RespectTheKitty - I do a few Virtual runs a year and I try to make sure some of the money goes to support a charity. I am doing a US Road Running 5k called the Officer Down Memorial Page Virtual 5k. $5 of every entry goes to the charity and I believe you can donate more if you want. As a LEO wife it is something very near…
  • Coolest day this week in the low 80's today, then heating up to high 90's low 100's for the rest of the week. SO glad we are finally getting our air conditioning replaced! Decent run today, lower back and hips were tight so not as good as I wanted but got in a slow 2.6 miles. Back to building milage on Saturday. 7/1 - 0 mi…

  • This is the start of a cut back week so did what was supposed to be an easy 3 miler but ended up with 2.6 miles. J put on his roller blades and came with and brought Neeko for the first time in a while. For the first time in a while I felt a little tired but like I could have gone farther, if that makes sense. 7/1 - 0 mi -…
  • Was out the door at 5 AM and it was already 80° with 80% humidity, are you kidding me? I had planned on trying for 7 miles so strapped on my Garmin so I could track how far I had gone and see how I felt in case I need to cut it short. I did my usual 1.5 miles to the park and added 2 laps for another 3 miles and felt ok so…
