  • From what I understand the program had a revamp since I did it a few years ago. That may be one of the differences. When I took it they recommended making up a big pitcher of H2Orange and recommended sipping it all day long to keep blood sugar levels stable to reduce hunger. They said water was acceptable if you were out…
  • That is awesome. Well done 🎉
  • Stellar advice from the NS Message Board of the day in reference to someone concerned that she is only eating about 800 calories per day after tracking for a few days because she is waking up hungry overnight and is feeling lethargic: "Calories don't matter. Don't worry about them."
  • Sure, do what works for you, just don't go in blind. This program is very mysterious from the outside, and once inside I have been instructed to eschew my doctor's advice in favor of their principles. Do what works best for you, but ask questions. Be safe. Think for yourself.
  • You are right. Eat whatever you want, lose weight, and do it almost effortlessly? Sign me up! Well, they did. What could be better? How about science? This program makes a lot of claims that don't seem based in anything but anecdotes or stories. What has been a concern is how they discourage their members from eating…
  • Here is an example of the kinds of stellar advice you can expect from the moderator, and some of the NS faithful. "Don't count the calories. If you are counting calories you are most likely not eating foods you love. Foods that make your mouth water. Remember, counting calories is a diet and they are not a lifestyle change…
  • We did, and felt utterly ridiculous. We also got the point of the exercise - that you taste more when you eat slowly. 🙄 I am NOT going to be breaking my peanuts into quarters, however. There is a limit! 🤣🤣🤣
  • The Pringles and peanuts are part of an exercise in taste satisfaction. You smell one chip, lick it, then eat it slowly. Then you eat a chip as fast as you can. Which tasted better? What flavor did you taste eating slowly vs fast? Repeat with the peanuts.
  • You just watch the exercise, or sub something else. The exercise is about taste satisfaction. You learn there is just as much flavor in 1/4 of a peanut eaten slowly as there is in one.
  • Yes, I suspect they are, but they are making money hand over fist because companies buy into the program in hopes of reducing the cost of their health insurance premiums.
  • On NS you are supposed to eat your favorite foods first, leaving the foods you like least (and often that is the nutritious vegetable dishes) for last. SO, you can fill up on items like fried chicken, a biscuit, and some mashed potatoes (eaten one at a time in order of preference with at least 25% of the meal as protein).…

  • Fruit is a no-no. Veggies aren't really encouraged in favor of foods that make your mouth water. They discourage salads, for example, because they probably aren't what you REALLY crave and desire. Overall, it isn't balanced. They are always talking about pizza, burgers & fries, or steak. The video demos of food being eaten…
  • It actually videos you watch at your own pace. I am free to laugh, scoff, or snooze... 🤣
  • Hi Friends! Week 3 Update! This week we learned about Vital Needs, exercise, and goal setting. Overall the lessons were benign, and didn't offer me much as I am not an emotional consumer for the most part. Vital Needs are a set of emotional needs that, when filled, will help keep you from overeating due to stress and…
  • Hi all! I saw some questions, so wanted to address them before the Week 3 update. Yes, we weigh in weekly, and they also encourage tracking measurements. You get a NS branded tape measure in your welcome box. When you eat a meal like stir-fry or casserole then that is considered one food, so you eat just that until you…
  • So, week 2 update for those curious about the Naturally Slim Program. This week we learned about the nebulous concept of the Appetit Set Point, reinforce some week 1 'super skills' (eat slowly, stop when full), talked more about hunger and why eating between meals will make you fat, and introduce exercise not as a means of…
  • I am generally not a breakfast person, and I have never seen a connection between my success in weight loss or my struggle with weight gain if I do or do not eat breakfast. It's personal preference. If I am hungry I may have some yogurt or an egg, otherwise I have my coffee and eat when I finally feel hungry.
  • If alcohol is an issue, I suggest you avoid. Club soda with a lime twist is nice and refreshing. Otherwise, decide what you will drink beforehand, log it, and stick to it. Drink a club soda in between to stay hydrated.
  • http://www.everydayhealth.com/columns/johannah-sakimura-nutrition-sleuth/true-false-does-reheating-pasta-help-you-lose-weight/ What say you to this?
  • I assume you mean this: http://www.npr.org/blogs/thesalt/2012/08/03/158083010/if-almonds-bring-you-joy-enjoy-more-for-fewer-calories That is great! I think that calorie counts sould be as accurate as possible. That said, some people will see this and assume they can eat almonds, rare steak, reheated pasta/rice and be on…
  • Drinking water is good. Eating soup for 'salty water' to fill you up? No.
  • I get the concept, but I can't imagine that the difference would be that great. Not enough that people would notice any signifigant weight loss if they ate the same calories but in harder to digest foods.
  • \ HA!! I saw that, too. WT Actual F?
  • Ummmm .... "...a rare steak is harder to digest than a well-done one - so will be less calorific." and "...while a lemon muffin and a flapjack may contain the same calories, the body uses more calories to break down the flapjack, so you’ve notched up fewer after eating it." I can't.
  • It sounds like you need to develop new rewards. I save money everytime I resist temptation and put it aside in a jar. I am saving up for a spa day. :) When I reach for a cookie, or more pizza, or chips I remind myself of the massage and facial I could have instead. That works for me. I like pampering! Find a non-food…
  • What kind of kitchen situation are you working with?
  • I make frittata muffins and pop them in the freezer. Just pull one the night before and stash it in the fridge, then nuke it for 30 seconds or so day of. I make mine on weekends so I have meals all week. I usually do red peppers, mushrooms, jalapeno, onion, and cheese. I love them. You can even slice them in half and put…
  • I brush the tops of my chicken thighs lightly with mayo (about 1/2 tsp per thigh), then top with a panko, parm, and Italian spice mixture (anout 1 tablespoon of the mix per thigh). Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes. Yum!
  • Hi everyone. New to this thread. Thrusday Truth: A lie on your diary doesn't make the calories you ate go away. I spent the last 6 months gaining 20 pounds of the weight I lost back because I would lie to myself and not log all the food I ate. I am done with that now. I just had shoulder surgery and when they weighed me at…
