  • I think that you can run at any weight as long as you start off really slowly to give your joints etc plenty of time to strengthen and adapt. Invest in some good quality shoes you are worth it. Congratulations for giving it a go. I started running following the c25K program and did many of the weeks to to three times to…
  • I agree I too prefer my superfoods without bits and pieces of animals in them
  • I too am a fan of the Pea protein. I run and find on the days after my run adding it to a smoothie with greens (yes I know sounds weird but kale is great in a smoothie) some fresh ginger mint and blueberries with some lemon (skin and all learnt from reading Jason's blog re juicing) added to an organic tropical juice is so…
  • Cook them up and throw them in a salad with some sundried tomato. Mash them up and make a dip for snacks with vegetables. Cook them up with some veggies and curry powder to make a tasty soup. Lentils are amazing
  • I became a vegetarian a couple of years ago and have been a vegan for the past year. Initially became vegan because it didn't make sense to me to avoid meat for the animals sake but contribute to killing thousands of baby chicks in egg production and I did some reading about bobby calves. I guess once you open yourself up…
  • Hi, I too am relatively new to veganism - just under a year. I am the only vegan but my daughter and hubby are vego's and my other daughter is an omni. Does make for interesting meal times. I have found a new interest in cooking since changing my diet - have you?
  • Hi, I ran my first 1/2 after with a previous maximum distance run of only 12k's and it was awesome. Am planning on running my first full marathon next year and am really looking forward to it. Good on you for giving it a go and remember to enjoy the run too.
  • I replaced spaghetti pasta for strips of zuchinni. I sauté it and add salt and pepper. It's tasty, and healthy! awesome idea!!
  • Count me in if its not too late!
  • All you can do is set a great example that being healthy is fun and hope they catch on. Not a bad idea to "accidentally" leave a copy of mens health or your food report from MFP or any other information you feel would be read if it were lying around either. Watching the biggest loser together. Give lots of options and…
  • Changs make a super low cal noodle that says you can use instead of pasta. It is like a rice noodle but is made out of a vegetable that is naturally low in carbs. Its 20 calories for 200g and as it doesn't need to be cooked is perfect for an Asian style salad but not sure if you would love it with pasta sauce or not. You…
  • Interested + me = YES please
  • Seriously jealous that looks wonderful!
  • I too am a fan of the pea protein and I put it in a blender with some fresh fruit and ice and some fresh ginger & mint and I feel that it definitely helps with muscle soreness for me. Its also great for me as I don't do dairy - milk is designed to help a baby cow reach up to 200kg in just over a year I so do not want that!!
  • I have been very blessed by a wonderful family that despite thinking that I am completely nuts will all make a special effort to ensure that i have something yummy to eat. My husband has just recently become a vego and I haven't had any functions since so I am not sure if I would supply meat or not. I think as long as…
  • Pretty sure sesame seeds are high in calcium too and taste great lightly toasted in your salad
  • I am currently loving nutritional yeast, what a great list! think I might need to take it shopping with me net time seems I am forever buying the same stuff each week.
  • You can buy soy based cream cheese, yogurts and sour cream and with these you will pretty much be able to make anything you currently like that contains dairy. It is a challenge but I have found since going dairy free for a year what started off as feeling super hard is now really easy.
  • I agree! I don't eat clean either but I will usually eat clean for Breakfast and lunch that way you day is 2/3 done. I started with lunch as a salad is cheap easy to make and works well for lunch.
  • Hi I am vegan and on a calorie restricted diet so yes I do have to ask for "special" food and i always take along a salad or fruit. I like it I enjoy being different its all about your perspective I am doing what i feel is good and healthy for me and the planet so if others don't agree that's OK. I have long learned that…
  • I run and have been running further and faster since becoming vegan. I have completed two half marathons and next year I plan to do my first full marathon. You need to ensure that you are eating enough as its easy to not eat enough and make sure you do get lots of those pretty colours on your plate every meal.

  • I am vegan and don't worry a whole lot about my numbers except for the total calorie count. As long as they are near enough and I am getting a reasonable amount of protein vs carbs I am OK with that. If your diet makes you feel good and you are healthy then worrying about individual aspects of your diet overall isn't…
  • Hi I became vegan almost a year ago and have never felt better. I too loved meat but felt that with all that tastes lovely in this world there is no need to kill animals. Yes it was difficult at first and yes its a challenge now when I go out but on the positive side when I gave up milk my stomach just shrank. I now know…
  • I too love running and was impressed with everything you are planning to do. I too get all sorts of injuries when its time to change shoes but I still manage to forget or put it off until i get sore every time. Can I recommend you increase your rest days 12k every day is a lot of miles on your feet no matter how well you…
  • Hi guys Well done on your c25k challenge I completed this a couple of years ago and it was one of the best things I have ever done. I now consider myself a runner and have completed a couple of 1/2 marathons and am aiming for a full marathon next year. I was seriously just off the couch and didn't know if I could or would…
