We're sort of twins. 39 years old HW: 145.5 Current weight: 145.5 Goal weight: 138 Lowest weight as an adult: 100 (WAAAYY too thin) I'm also looking to lose the jiggle around the middle. :( My goal weight is to put me back within my competition weight class (Olympic Weightlifting is my drug exercise of choice).

As a former smoker, I can sort of attest to what waldo is saying. For me, at least, I ate more when I quit because of the hand-to-mouth habit. Eating mimics that action WAY more than, say, just chewing gum. I don't eat much more overall now than I did when I smoked, so I'm pretty sure it didn't work as an appetite…

To recap what others have said: I've been on it for ages with no side effects. In fact, one of the reasons I finally gave in and had the radioactive ablation done when I was hyperthyroid is due to the differences in side effects between tapazole/methimazole and synthroid/levothyroxine long term. Just remember to take it…

I've seen the following sites posted on these fora somewhere.... I've found them to be good reading (I'm also wanted to get a little more serious about lifting, but so far, I've been scared.) http://www.stumptuous.com/ http://nerdfitness.com/blog/

I'm working on maintaining my weight with the terrible conundrum of wanting to lose excess fat and build muscle. Add me if you like -- I could use some more support (especially someone willing to say, "quit eating that ____. It's not good for you.")

I don't disagree that there are settings for the calorie counting tools for those who want to gain weight. I'm saying that MFP privileges weight loss. Go look the home page (log out) and see what the emphasis is. Even if you want to gain weight, the sidebar will always say "Weight loss tracker" with "___ lbs lost." It will…

Part of it may also be MFP's design. It's designed for people to lose weight. I wish there were a setting so you could tell it to not congratulate you for going under calories or for gaining a pound if you're trying to gain or maintaining from a gain. I know I set my goal weight at 125 when I started, and weighed in at…

Have you had your thyroid checked? You actually sound similar to me a while back. Feel free to add me as a friend and we can chat. :)

They're both cute, but my decision would be based on whether or not I was heavier around the hips. The ruching on the bottom half of the second one would emphasize the hips. If you're more like a true hourglass or heavier up top, the second one would be more flattering.

Grats on your weight loss, Ashlee! Good luck on the remainder. I'm a little curious about all of this too. I just started using MFP about a week ago (not to lose, but to maintain weight I've finally gained). First, a little history: A few months back, I quit smoking and started going to the gym. At that time, I weighed 110…
