My boyfriend and I recently had a discussion about this. When we get in an argument, I like to fix it immediately. However, he needs space. He likes to have time to think about how he feels before he can articulate it to me and fix the issue. According to him, most guys prefer to deal with things that way. It has helped me…

My boyfriends Grandmother "doesn't believe in birth control." All 4 of her children had babies out of wedlock, two had babies when they were teenagers, and one had an abortion.

I am not a parent, but I am a daughter and a teenager. And I would say, from a daughters perspective, that most girls are afraid to ask and will revert to unsafe alternatives. So what i would prefer, is for my parents to suggest it (for reasons like period, acne etc) so that the girls doesn't have to ask, but still doesn't…

I am very excited about that part. haha haha I am guessing so. Poor girl.

Haha I promise I am a nice person too. Sometimes the internet makes me a little too bold. No hard feelings. :) Yeah I am a little disappointed right now... I guess this is the beginning of quite a journey for me. haha But hopefully I will find some good resources.

Hello, Sometimes when I eat a lot more than I feel like I should have, I just add more exercise to that week. For the more calories I eat, the more I burn. And as far as the stomach ache, I always feel sick in the morning if I eat before bed.

Thank you.
-
Thats what I thought I was doing when I went to a personal trainer.

ahhhhhh! I understand what you all are saying. I understood it quite some time ago. Sorry for getting irritated, but I am tired of my posts being analyzed and ripped apart. If this helps, I WAS WRONG. So sorry.
-
I apologize for calling you *****y. It may not have been nice of me to post that. However, I do feel that you were being unnecessarily rude about the situation. I do not know any facts about weight loss or health, I just have opinions. And yes these opinions have been influenced by my trainer. I guess I was under the…

Thank you for your professional opinion. It has been established that these are my issues and not to be taken as general fact like I seemed to be saying it was. As far as general health FOR ME, it is very bad for me to eat late at night. My personal trainer was probably speaking about my specific circumstances. Obviously I…

I have stated several times now that I was speaking about personal experience. I am sorry if I went about being helpful in the wrong way. I never would have thought that it would blow up like this. You're right, everyone is different. I really was just trying to be helpful. I do not "know it all." If I did, I would not be…

Good for you! Like I said, that is only my personal experience. I soooo wish I could eat late at night. But you are lucky that you can! Congrats on the 60lbs!

Another thing that I noticed music is really helpful for, is keeping you going. For some reason when I am running and I start to get really tired, the sound of my heavy breathing is what makes me notice that I am tired. But if I can't hear my breathing (because of the music) then I tend to not feel as tired and can go much…

Well for example, white bread has a lot of preservatives and a lot less nutrients. So while it is a carb, it is a lot less beneficial to your body. Well I personally believe that is never a good idea to cut an entire food group or all carbs out of your diet. Everything in moderation.

Holy crap there are a lot of posts on here! Look, I developed a habit of eating late at night and I soon developed digestive problems, morning sickness (only on days I ate to late at night), and weight gain. THIS IS MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE! Which is the only knowledge I can rightfully share. On the off chance that whoever…

Well if you wanted to correct me, you would have hmmm... I dunno... actually given some advice!!! But instead you decided to be *****y. I am in no way saying that I am 100% right. All I can do is say what I personally have known to be true for myself. If you know something "correct" why don't you be helpful and tell the…

wtf is broscience? and seriously, i am just trying to be helpful and supportive. thats what i thought this site was for. if you disagree with me, fine. i really couldn't care less. but you don't have to be *kitten* about it.

You are definitely doing the right things! Carbs are very important! Just make sure you are eating the right ones (it seems like you are). Whole grain bread, pastas, and brown rice are all good carbs. But something I learned from my personal trainer, is that for weight loss, you want to eat your carb foods earlier in the…
-
Well firstly, you are kind of rude. And secondly, I get all my fitness and diet information from my personal trainer. So wether you agree with my advice or not, it is educated advice.
-
haha well I guess its gonna have to depend on your personal schedule. For the average person, its best not to eat after 6 or 7. But obviously that wouldn't make sense for you. The important thing is, if you are going to eat right before (or closely before) you go to bed, make sure you get at least a little exercise to get…

I should have phrased that differently... your body doesn't expect that same amount of food every meal, but everyday. It is also kind of a mental thing. Sometimes when I eat less than normal, wether I am full or not, I feel like I want to eat more even though I am not necessarily hungry.
-
YES, it actually is bad to eat later at night. Unless you work out before you go to bed. Eating carbs at night is even worse for you. Carbs give your body energy. And unless you burn the calories before bed, all that fat is stored and the nutrients is not absorbed because your digestive system is not as active as it is…

The important difference between 6 small meals and 3 large meals is this: when you eat larger meals, your stomach gets used to that large portion of food and therefore needs it everytime you eat in order to feel full. If you eat 5 or 6 smaller meals, you stomach will eventually adjust to the smaller portion and therefore…

I have a HUGE problem with eating later at night, which is really bad. Typically, its best not to eat after 7pm. Maybe even 6pm. And small meals are much better for you. They will help you get used to smaller portion meals and after your body adjusts, you won't be feeling hungry. Find some tricks in the meantime, but your…

I noticed the same thing. When I workout at the gym, it tells me how many calories I have burned, and MFP often says I burned more, so I have to enter it manually.
-
Its really important that you are burning more calories than you are eating. The way that MFP is set up doesn't really help us with that, but your net calories should be low.

I am 19, 5' 8", and 168. My calorie "goal" is 1200, but I try to stay under that. And eating back the calories you burn, unfortunately defeats the purpose of burning them. Technically, you're supposed to burn more calories per day than you eat. But that is not limited to your workout, it includes normal everyday activity.
-
I think working out with a buddy or doing alternative workouts like dancing and swimming are definitely helpful. However, as far as making the treadmill more interesting and burning more calories... its best to alternate your speed and incline often. High intensity workouts are what burn the most calories. So maybe start…

Thats seems like a very reasonable goal for your height. I am 5' 8" and my goal is 145. Although I'm thinking about changing it to 140. But either way, that is a good healthy goal.
