  • I agree we are all selfish but we do not need to be self centered. It goes against our nature to think of others first but it doesn't make it a bad thing to strive for. Personally, I know that I am selfish but I strive to not be self-centered, so that selfishly, I can be a better person. D
  • I tend to be cold all of the time. I live in Buffalo, NY and winter makes me insane! Yes, I am colder the more I lose but I also notice that if I do some moderate to intense exercise and weight lifting in the mornings, I tend to stay warmer all day. D

  • Thank you. This website and the TDEE explanation has been one of the most helpful things I have ever read on MFP. I am short and "old"...so when my younger friends say things like...."I won't even talk to a person if I look at their diary and see that they are eating less than 1700 calories", I cringe because I know that I…
  • That is truly one of the most inspirational stories I have ever read on MFP. I am sure it took some time to post with all of the pictures but what a dynamic statement! You are truly amazing! I am trying to get in the groove of lifting heavy as I feel exactly the same way about my body. Thanks for the post! D
  • I love drinking tea and have tried from many sources. I prefer a loose tea but do not mind a bag if it is a quality blend. The Wegmans near our home has a tea shop. Large canisters that you can pick and choose the tea you like and buy small quantities to try many kinds to see what you enjoy. The have very nice bags for…
  • I want to work for Lindt!!! My favorites are the 85%, 90% or I even enjoy the 99%!!! Love!
  • Life will always throw you curve balls. It is an important step in this lifestyle change to learn to go with them. There have been a some wonderful suggestions so far but you know yourself best. Taking time "off" might not be a good option for you so consider the suggestions of changing your goals for a time and switching…
  • What an amazing accomplishment! Congrats and Thank you all rolled into one! D
  • I have loved so many that are already listed but my all time favorite is My Antonia by Willa Cather. I was surprised that she didn't make the list. This summer I read Paradise Lost by Milton for the first time and absolutely enjoyed the prose. D
  • I understand all that is being said here and as a Catholic I would never sign up for a "yoga class" that is being offered at some new age facility. However, all of that said. I also, do not think it is sinful or anti-Catholic to do the Yoga Stretch on p90x or to do yoga maneuvers on many popular exercise DVD's. D
  • By far the funniest response! 48...long time member of MFP. I am committed! My kids friends all think I am funny but my humor is seldom seen here; however, I do love to laugh! Dealing with a broken foot for the past 8 months has caused me to gain some of my hard earned poundage back. Maybe that is where my sense of humor…
  • That is crazy! All gyn people know that sex hormones are fat soluble. They need fat to transport from the brain to the ovaries, etc. Too much and too little will diminish fertility. This is why runners and people who suffer from anorexia also have amenorrhea. It is the same deal. I had lost so much weight nursing my first…
  • This is me. I need to do something big to kick start it all over again. Yes, forgive...but don't forget. I try to evaluate what made me go off and learn from it. I now know that during times of crisis is not when I binge but right after when I am tired. When I have been giving and giving and giving and not taking the time…
  • I would never guess it is the same person. What I am so impressed about is all of the definition in your arms and legs!!! No loose skin or anything! WOW! Congratulations! D
  • I agree with everything here.... Don't buy cheap sneakers. If you are having pain, go to a podiatrist or professional shoe store or even many chiropractors and be fitted for an orthotic. Best of luck!
  • You are so cute!! In both pictures but truly, If I had known you last year and then ran into you at a store now I might not recognize you! What an incredible accomplishment!! You should be so proud! I wish I did know you!! D
  • Baby years are always tough and if you moved at the beginning of the school year you had a double whammy! Hang in there and see if there are possibly some ways to accelerate what you are doing. For example...if your daughter is good at Math, would it be hurtful to have her do fewer problems? If so, don't do it. But with a…
  • Truly an amazing transformation! Bravo!
  • Thanks everyone, He was released on bond around midnight on Sunday. He will be on his way home tomorrow morning. We did hire a lawyer, Louis Lopez who will represent him when he has his trial. It will most likely be a misdemeanor so , lots of money but hopefully no record and no jail time. Happy Mother's Day! D
  • This...It is only our western culture that finds breastfeeding a child "disgusting". I have found that what ever age is the oldest a mother has personally nursed her child is the age she things everyone should wean. It is just plain hard to imagine it until you have done it. I have allowed baby led weaning for 3 of my 5.…
  • These look amazing! Thanks! D
  • My kids are short and I was mocked but my kids stayed in their car seats/ boosters until they were old enough and big enough to be out of them. For my youngest daughter, she was 11 before she was tall enough. She told friends that she just hated the way the seat belt fit and that she likes to see out the window. Plus hers…
  • So many excellent replies!!! Since I LOVE to read, one trick I do is that I reserve one book for reading while I am on the treadmill, or elliptical, or bike. I get the large print so it is easier to read when the body is moving. I will not allow myself to read it unless I am exercising. Sometimes I go to the gym just…
  • Post menopausal here but used to teach NFP using the sympto-thermal method from CCL. Sex hormones are fat soluble. For every 10 pounds that you lose your body needs to "re-calculate". Be sure you are eating enough. Make sure you are not being too restrictive with healthy fats. Truthfully, the body really does not like…
  • Hi Marla, I lost this thread for awhile but found it again. I am so happy that things are going well for you!!! D
  • Good for you! You really seem to have a handle on this! I struggle all the time fluctuating between 122-128. This may not seem horrendous except that my goal is to get to 115-117. This flux has been my life for the past two years. I could pat myself on the back for having lost 50+ pounds and keeping that off but instead I…
  • I am also having trouble with my foot (metatarsalgia) and I have been doing non-weight bearing exercises. I was surprised at just how difficult they were! D
  • I just cannot! :noway: I might continue a subject or two into the summer or plan extra subjects for enjoyment during the summer but I (emphasis on "I") am the one who needs the break! :glasses: D
