40 is not the same as 20 but you can still do this. Be patient, it might take a little longer but it will happen. I encourage you to join a "group" that is a 40+ type group. These men and women really understand. Best of luck!! D

So very sorry. Try to mentally tell yourself that you do not deal with stress by eating but by exercising (or even just walking). Invite those who are suffering to walk with you, it will be good for them, too. Offer to play with the daughter while others are eating. This keeps you away from the food and allows your sil…

It has always been my experience that if I eat real whole foods, I can consume about 200-300 more calories per day and still lose weight compared to a highly processed fake food diet. This is why "low calorie" and "diet" foods simply do not work. You can lose weight for a time eating fake foods but you will feel like…

Lovely! Thanks for sharing this!!! It is always a good reminder. Not many people have no regrets at the end. (Although, I think I would like a couple of days with that cash!) D

OP: I always had a tiny waist...even when I was heavier, my waist always looked slim and flat. Now even when I am at a lower weight, I still struggle with a thicker waist. It also seems to be the first place that I gain now. D

Forums aside, I think MFP does in fact promote a system. Find your base calories formulated from; first your assesment of your energy output (sedentary, active, etc.) and second your desired weight loss. (0.5 per week). Then record exercise and eat back those calories. When I first started, this is what I did and lost…

Congratulations on another year! Tami, you are truly an inspiration here. Thank you for succeeding and giving all of us the courage to succeed as well! OP: Do not fear!! You are establishing new habits and new ways of thinking. Ignore the nay-sayers. This is a process. You made progress just by being aware. It takes time to re-learn! It took me years to lose the weight because of some medical issues but each day I told myself this. "A year will go by no matter what I do.…

Same to you. We had a wonderful day! Gifts for the kids in the morning, including our traditional chocolate coins. Then a wonderful German meal. I was still under!!! D

the one drawback of polar is that they want you to send in the whole thing to replace the batteries. The last time I did, it cost $25 but they not only replaced both batteries they also checked to be sure it was operating correctly and was still waterproof, something that is important to me as I like to use mine for…

I had people ask me if I was sick...like cancer or something. It has been a couple of years now so no one says anything at all now. That is kind of hard, too. Maintaining and working so hard to do that and no one says a thing because they are used to you looking this way and cannot remember you when you were fat. D

Sounds about right to me! D

In terms of exercising in a fasted state vs a carb state...I am doing a nutrition class and the doctor who is lecturing said that there are pros and cons to each and what you want to do depends on your goals. He claims that eating a carb something before exercising will increase your performance but that although limited,…
