  • I am about the same as you on the size wise! I did 5 weeks of P90X and had to stop due to getting pneumonia again. I feel like such a dead weight sitting on the couch trying to get better!! I typically eat 1800 calories while doing P90X. Some days only 1400, some more than 2000. I also was running and doing tennis at the…
  • I wasn't one of those lucky people that suddenly started drinking more water and suddenly lost 10 lbs. I can tell you that I slowly increased to 13 cups a day on average, and I am not as hungry, I feel better, and I don't crave as much. 1 to 2 cups a day isn't good for your body— your new pound might be water weight…
  • Here is my four year results— unfortunately I don't have full body pics to share. But I think the face shows enough... http://instagr.am/p/I0filcSTwY/ 2009-2012!
  • I think it also depends on your bone structure as well. Like you, I'd be happy in that range. But mostly because I feel I'd look sickly below that. But really I just set huge mile stones, and if I feel like still going after those, I will! My first one is in 2 pounds – it was the weight I was prior to taking steroids. And…
  • Haha. Not going to lie, I don't believe there is an "ideal" weight. There is a range based on your bone structure and height, and even then what really matters is how you feel and how you think you look. I am also 5'5.5" as well! I am also big framed, so my range that I want is 155-140 lbs. But my main goal is to get fit…
  • I have the video for beginners— I start with that one. It's about an hour long and goes through each motion. And honestly, as long as you are working out, who cares how you look?! I bet you aren't as bad as you think. My advice is if you really want to know how many calories you re burning, get a HRM and calculate your…
  • Double check you have the correct amount— ie maybe an ounce is 25 calories, but a cup is 200. Worse comes to worse, it always better to over estimate than under. I'll add you so you can have someone encouraging you!
  • In all honesty, are you losing inches too? I haven't hit 20 pounds yet since I've started this year, but I feel like EVERYONE notices because I've lost so many inches. And it helps to get new clothes too--the more my pants aren't baggy, the more people notice.
  • I read Jen Lancaster's Such a Pretty Fat (HILARIOUS book by the way) and she tried Jenny Craig. She had some luck with it, but her experience led me to think that it wasn't a great program. I am doing Weight Watchers though, and I love it! I use MFP to track calories as well, because at some day I would like to be able to…
  • Love this response about butter. There are several .gifs online that show how much one pound of fat is...even one that shows how much 100 lbs of fat looks like. Those are incredibly inspiring!
  • I have lost nearly 70 pounds in 3 years. Granted, the first 30-40ish of those were from getting off prednisone, but it still happened. I look back on those pictures ocassionally as a reminder that I was in such a rut. And every time I feel bad about how I look now, I pull out one of those pictures. Yes, I was that big…
  • I'll add you! I started at 230 about a year ago, and was at 199 when I started MFP. I am not a gluten-free kind of person, but I do eat gluten-free ocassionally! And I am 5'5 too. :)
  • Thank you! I just need something that will give me a GOOD rough estimate of how many calories I am burning. I play tennis 6 days a week and do P90X as well, and I fear that my 1500ish calories a day might actually be too few. According to MFP, I burned nearly 7,000 calories last week, and I just don't know if that's right.…
  • Hi! I am Meghan. I have been playing tennis for about 5 years now, give or take a break due to injuries. I am in Georgia, so I have the wonderful benefit of playing year round. :) I am a 3.0/3.5 USTA player (rated 3.0, but play 3.5 recently for doubles and starting to play for singles), and I play on a low B ALTA team (the…
  • I love tennis! My first recommendation is to find a brand that you love. Go to a specialized tennis store and try on shoes, then go find the ones you like at another place (cause it'll usually be cheaper.) I have always loved New Balance shoes -- I use to wear them for sports in high school, and my proper tennis shoes are…

  • I have recently started putting duct tape over my scale's little window -- I became OBSESSED. I would weigh in 2-3 times a day. I am trying to get back to only weighing in once a week, but it really is hard. I live alone too, so I can't have someone hide my scale in my tiny apartment. But I am tempted to put it under the…
  • Get a Zumba DVD. I don't have a flat stomach, but I think that really contributed to the inches I have lost off my stomach. Or if you have an iPhone/iPod touch, get the Nike training center app. It is free and has intense exercises with next to no equipment needed!
  • LOVE this post! Business lunches and desserts are included as well as you are obligated to get something expensive and satisfying.
  • Hi!! I'll add you! :) I am always looking for friends too!
  • In all honesty, I used to feel this way. I mean, my sisters are all 90-120lbs, and even at my skinniest, I was 140ish. But I had a car wreck three years ago that really put everything into perspective, especially when my now 7 year old brother stood up for me when some kid didn't understand why I was wearing shorts in the…
  • DirecTv has a program on channel 374 (I think) called like Total Body Workout, or something like that. It is on at 9:00 AM EST, and it alternates daily between an hour of yoga, and an hour of aerobics. They focus on different things daily too. I love it!
