  • I've had a polar loop, an upband, and the misfit one. I broke three Up bands - I liked them, but they would stop working easily. All under warranty, so I got my money back. I loved my polar loop in theory because it was to relate to my HRM and the daily percentage was based on activity rather than steps (so about 12K steps…
  • Thank you for posting this!! I just went on a search as I've accepted that I'm not in remission any more, and wanted to see if anyone had changed their diets. My doctor has never recommended changes in my diet, nor does he consider it to be a trigger, but I'm super curious to see if there is anything I can do to help keep…
  • They also do flavored almonds, which are great if you are like me and had to ease into eating nuts. I can eat them raw now, but that took a lot of patience. I also recommend buying hummus singles, and already boiled eggs. Super easy to throw in a lunch bag and eat. And a scale will be your best friend if you let it!
  • I was just debating posting this article, ha: http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/
  • Clean potatoes first, or some dirt may come off into soup adding calories.
  • Does milk = ice cream? Because then I can totally see the benefits of this...
  • My biggest struggle was to find an exercise that didn't make me feel ridiculous or self-conscious. Tennis was, surprisingly that sport. I started playing at a low level, and have worked my way up to being pretty good! And then this past year I started hiking. The amazing thing about hiking is that 1. it doesn't hurt my…

  • I definitely vote that you get a HRM. You'll get frustrated with the loop without it, unless your main form of exercise is running/jogging. I play a ton of tennis, and because that can be so stop and go, it doesn't register correctly without my HRM.
  • Or you ate too much sodium and/or not enough water. Fluctuation happens.
  • Good luck! I understand your pain. At 23 I was battling Wegener's Granulomatosis pretty badly, and that was pre-chemo treatments. I hope it gets better!
  • I don't think the poster was calling you a liar, nor was I... all they said was that they couldn't fathom working out for 4 hours a day. I really just think you read into it wrong, that's all. And I wasn't causing drama, just pointing out that there has been studies that show that you can exercise too much. As I stated in…
  • ...Actually, there have been studies about exercising too much. It can lead to Exercise Bulimia, which is just as much of a disorder as any eating disorder. It can also lead to injuries and dehydration (and I've actually been hospitalized from this from over exercising). That being said, I have played many tennis matches…
  • Aviation insurance underwriter, and MBA student. Essentially, I am attached to a computer T___T
  • Added some people, but thought I'd say hi! 26 and childless — 1 of 8 kids, so I am a long ways off before I want my own.
  • I only eat 3-4, depending on when I get up and how late I am up. It is truly a matter of understanding my own body. I know that I function best when I have had 1,000 calories by 5 PM, though I am starting to feel fine on 800 I still obviously eat after that, but I learned that if I had less before 5 pm, I would overeat in…
  • Same as above - I don't mind being on the waiting list.
  • If you have a smart phone, I recommend the Nike + Running app. It has a "coach" function that has everything - 5K, 10K, Half and full marathons for beginner, intermediate and advanced runners. It's free too. It'll give you a schedule that you can keep using and keep track of how much you are moving too.

  • o/ going to be 26 soon!
  • Oh god, we had to do this for a dinner party we had recently. No gluten, paleo friends, vegetarian friends, etc. Thankfully, my paleo friends didn't come, and when someone has been vegetarian for 15+ years, I'll adapt some food for them. (The no gluten person is me, but that actually is for medical reasons.)
  • I am pretty sure I have the FT7, though I know I don't use it to it's full advantage. It connects to my treadmill as well, so that I love. I had another polar one that I didn't care for because it always took 20 minutes to get it on just right to find my heart rate. Never had any issues with this one.
  • I am in for 78 - which is roughly what my training for my half marathon would equal up to in January! :)
  • Congratulations - that's fantastic! :)
  • I am willing to get Jillian Michaels to start yelling at me!
  • Nothing is ever going to be 100%, but the HRM is going to be more accurate than the machine. I find that when I use my HRM (I have the same kind) I tend to lose more weight than just trusting machines and/or MFP. Good luck!
  • I didn't lose as much as I thought I would (maybe 5 lbs?) but I definitely feel better. I had the same ordeal happen with the whole "drink more water a day!" situation -- I drink close to 120 oz of water a day, but I never noticed a significant change in my weight/looks. I do notice that if I have a sip of soda or don't…
  • Red meat and eggs. But really, if it is terrible enough, you got to take a supplement. Unfortunately, I've found no food that replaces how much I get from those....and I've had several transfusions due to anemia.
  • Ahaha I am lazy with refilling water. I keep a 101.4 oz bottle of water that I fill only once a day and just drink as I go. Gets the job done....Plus it also reminds me how little I have drank.
  • Maybe it's just me, but I am under the belief that as long as the water is in front of me and accessable, I am going to drink it....but I agree with the herbal tea. Or peppermint tea-- tis the season?
