  • I got a wonderful early Christmas present. I was supposed to work today and tomorrow. (Tomorrow was inservice/work day.) The district gave us tomorrow afternoon off paid. Due to the impending storm, they decided this morning that we didn't to come in at all tomorrow. At the high school, due to finals, our students left at…

  • Thanks and good suggestions. Only problem is the nearest store like Sears or Academy is 120 miles away. I'm lucky that I only have to drive 25 miles to get to Walmart!
  • I need opinions. I have been given $200 in gift certificates to a neighboring town. They have a Walmart there. I have a small house with absolutely no room for anything. I am considering buying a manual treadmill that folds to store if I can find one there. Anyone know anything about them??

  • You are most welcome. The ingredients are actually fairly healthy. I would make myself one, but my blender is broken, I don't have any pineapple juice, no coconut cream, and now that I think about it I am out of ice. I guess I will just have to imagine how good it would be!
  • Well, see you in the morning for weigh in. I'm just hoping to stay the same until after New Year's at this point!
  • 7 oz pineapple juice 2 oz coconut cream 1 cup crushed ice Add the pineapple juice, coconut cream and crushed ice to a blender; blend at high speed. Pour into a collins glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry, a pineapple wedge, and serve. You could probably have one occasionally if you allowed for it in your calories. I…

  • You are such an inspiration, I am sure that you will be fine. Keep us posted!
  • Welcome! I knew you would find us!!
  • Just thought that I would pop in and say hi. Very busy today, sewing pajama pants for gifts, making spicy pretzels for parties, and making suet pudding. Ho ho ho!! I have a mental image of everyone on this thread in Christmas overdrive today, and it will keep me going. Happy weekend! And - here's to smart choices!

  • I agree with Sheilajane, come join our group! You will find lots of us over 50, and we continually share stories!
  • Put the candy in a cupboard or the refrigerator or the trash immediately, then fix myself a cup of hot tea and sit down to think rationally about what I can eat. If I still think that I need it after taking time to sit and think about it, eat some of it, or I will pig out later. But 99% of the time, the time it takes to…
  • I love the hashbrowns, but haven't ordered them for a year. My husband is nice and usually gives me a few bites of his so that I don't feel so deprived.
  • Yes, that is a picture of my mom. That was taken last year. My mom is home, but is very tired. Thanks for asking. And thanks for the support. Renny [/quote] I had noticed the picture, and like it, because every time I flip through the posts and see her, I remember to say a prayer for her!
  • From foodfit.com: Ground ginger is a poor substitute for fresh ginger, but if it's all you have, remember one tablespoon of fresh ginger is roughly equivalent to a teaspoon of dried ginger.
  • What he said!! Well, to follow up my eye dr. appointment from yesterday: Today I stopped in at my regular dr's to have my blood drawn for a diabetes check. My A1C (which measures your levels basically over the past few months) was 5.6. That is normal for a non-diabetic person! Granted, I am still taking daily medication,…
  • Heather - Welcome back! Did your team do well in the curling? Pattie - Welcome! Plenty of room for one (or twelve) more!! Kathy - I pledged 50 pounds last week. Now if I could just get the scale to start moving again! Well, to follow up my eye dr. appointment from yesterday: Today I stopped in at my regular dr's to have my…
  • I do sometimes count them. If I am too busy to workout, I consider a cleaning day with more than daily maintenance cleaning to be a workout.
  • If it was called chocolate mousse, it might be here. http://www.mimiscafe.com/MenuDinner.aspx click on chocolate mousse - it says 131 calories. Hope this helps!
  • Renny - so glad to hear your mother is going home. Prayers continue. kc, wish you could have been in my Sunday School class yesterday, when we talked about learning to forgive people to heal our hearts, but being able to stay in a relationship with them while not taking on their problems and behaviors as our baggage. Hang…
  • Almomay - you rock! Go, Chrissy, go! Go, Chrissy, go! (You are an inspiration to me. I remember cheering for you around 70 lbs. lost when you were stuck, and I think of you often now that I am kind of stuck there.) smadag - Glad you got a puppy. I think it's just what you needed! lcorrell - I am going to my mother's for…
  • It's a new week . . . Here we go . . . Team Huddle . . . Everyone . . . on three . . . GO BLUE!!!
  • Even with all of my exercise plans, I stayed the same this week. Oh, well, it wasn't a gain, and I will hang in there! If anyone wants some music to get in the Christmas spirit, you can go to my church's website and listen to the duet that my daughter and I sang with our guitars for the service yesterday. Just scroll down…
  • Renny - I am so sorry about your mother, and glad to hear she is doing better! Praying for all of you. Even with all of my exercise plans, I stayed the same this week. Oh, well, it wasn't a gain, and I will hang in there! If anyone wants some music to get in the Christmas spirit, you can go to my church's website and…
  • I would call them and complain, since you were gone before you opened it. I often do that when fast food messes up my order, and I am on the go, and they usually give me some kind of a credit. But what a bummer when you are in a state of anticipation!
  • I just have to tell you that I have been telling people for years that my two favorite vegetables are popcorn and peanut butter. (Usually they just look at me weird, like, is she serious?? OF COURSE I AM!!) I made homemade granola bars today. They are really good, good for you, but not incredibly low calorie. However, I…
  • Most of your calories in this will come from the peas. Dried legumes are actually good for you, and I think that a cup (cooked) of split peas has about 230 calories, so I think that it will be fine. I love split pea soup, and eat it occasionally. As a matter of fact, it sounds pretty good right now. Could you fax me some??
