I've completed about 204 16:8 fasts, over the last 2 years or so. It get's my weight down pretty quickly. The hard part for me is self sabotage and attitude in general. If life is rough, it's hard to stay motivated. I think I'm going to start telling myself that no matter how hard life is, being thin makes it somewhat…

Figure out how to make our own beer.

Great with some soy sauce.

Looking for a few friends who will hit "Like" when I lose a few pounds :) Will encourage back!

Any time I have 2-3 drinks or more it sets my weight loss back by 2 days at least. I've heard it reduces testosterone dramatically. So for women who don't have much of that hormone anyway that could really affect weight loss as testosterone promotes lean muscle gain.

Thanks, there are a lot of interesting articles there. It would be an interesting experiment to try eating according to light. I don't think I could handle my last meal being so early. I find my sleep is much lighter with an empty stomach, maybe its an adjustment thing. Right now due to latitude I'd be eating breakfast…

anubis609 - I agree with everything you replied to me about, except for maybe the 100% credibility of the data as I am not qualified to judge the bias of it. Sorry about the "Including the preferring n=1 anecdotes over data", that's my flaw. However for people who are obese, narrowing the feeding window from 16 hours or…

Anything that requires ground beef can be substituted with turkey. We do fajitas and tacos with ground turkey. Also Chinese stir fry. Recently I've been buying green giant riced cauliflower. It's amazing with some soy sauce. 1 cup is 20 calories!!! Add a chicken or turkey breast and you have a filling low cal/fat meal.

I think the comment section was more informative than the study they did. I also have read that fasting makes fat cells more efficient at storing fat in mice. Obviously calorie counting is still important when doing IF.

You may enjoy looking up Arthur De Vany on youtube or checking out his book The New Evolution Diet. He is 80 years old and in fantastic shape. He follows a paleo diet (and is considered the father of Paleo) and eats only Breakfast and Dinner. He talks much of the life extension benefits of this style of eating.

I used to love Pepsi. One day I bought 2L of club soda. It was hard to drink but by the time I finished it, I had acquired a taste for it. Now I love any kind of sparkling water, no sweeteners of any kind required. :)

Molson 67 IPA (the non India Pale Ale tastes like carbonated water :( ) 3% alcohol and only 70 Cal B) It's kind of like synthahol, when you stop drinking it you get sober right away! LOL! I do agree that the more I drink the less willpower I have to avoid snacking.

I've notice that sometimes I eat when I'm not hungry, but then I get hungrier as I eat. As well, I noticed that high carb/low fiber foods actually make me hungrier. Try intermittent fasting to see if you can skip breakfast or even breakfast and lunch so you get to know what hungry feels like. I admit I hardly ever feel…

You have come a long way and have done an awesome job! Be proud of your accomplishments, you look amazing!

Thich Nhat Hanh (yes, Plum Village) has a book on mindful eating called Savor. savorthebook.com

Thats a really good Idea! I'm going to stop reading this now before I get any more "good" ideas.

The trainer is after publicity which is exactly what the media gave him. Obviously he is lacking a conscience and has some level of personality disorder.

1 awesome greasy burger with bacon, cheese, fried onion straws plus an order of fries= 1400 cals. You won't go under with that estimate. :)

I always tend to end up at "Red Robins". The burgers are a trackers nightmare, around 800 calories. Last time "I had to go" I didn't eat the fries and felt somewhat better about it. The burger was delicious however.

What you are trying to figure out is probably one of the most important factors in weight loss! I think its going to be somewhat of a different answer for each person. I usually find that if I choose a low cal snack like veggie straws I can measure them out and stop after a few hundred calories. However if I have a had a…

Great work! However, I think you look great in all 3 pictures. :)

Just wondering if alcohol is part of that binge. That's was usually does it for me.

Are you a 3 big meal kind of guy? Do you like snacking?

Great work. Did you find it hard at Christmas or have any relapses to deal with? Just wondering because I had a hard time over Christmas but I'm back on track now.

It's best not to bring up the artificial sweetener health risk concerns on MFP. There is some huge debates already running on that subject, and it seems like the proponents for Diet Pop are very vocal, almost zealots. Anyway, I would highly suggest the flavored Perrier water, its awesome with no sugar or artificial…

Thanks for sharing your amazing transformation!

Wow such honesty. You are all brave and selfless for sharing. I read about these fears in a book called "Diets Don't Work" that came out in the 80's. Very common fears. Thank you!

Early Man could trust his hunger instincts because he didn't have to compete with Corperations, Marketers and Scientists who know exactly what to put into foods to make them addictive and to turn off peoples appestats such as MSG and High Fructose Corn Syrup. Not to mention fat and salt levels of snacks that dont naturally…

Aspartame is similar to M.S.G. and is a glutamate. It builds up in the brain over time. That is why Sucralose became the new standard. Unfortunately Sucralose is made by chlorinating a sugar mollicule. That is how some pesticides are formed. The answer to that was using Stevia ( a plant extract) which seems to have no…
