Hello and welcome. I am not in a similar situation, but I wish you welcome all the same. I must say, I am surprised that anyone could have such a strong reaction to someone else's stomach, especially the stomach of a person they love. Whatever your goals, I hope you find a happy and healthy way to reach them. Good luck!

Lead by example. He may be underweight, but is he a perfect picture of health and fitness? MFP isn't just about weight loss; it's a tool for all-round improved health (weight loss is just one of the effects!) We'll be your cheer squad, and one day he'll turn around and wonder when his wife turned into a fit and confident…

"Oh, you know, the old fashioned way. Cigarettes and laxatives."

The best responses I've ever heard to this are a simple "Yes", or "DAMNIT! Not AGAIN!!"

Dang, someone's been cutting onions around here. Thanks for sharing.

Hey. Hey. Breathe. You are going to be okay. Really. I've been in this place, too. You may feel awful right now, but it will pass. When it does, give yourself a clean slate. Start over like this never happened. Who said it should be easy? "Sounds simple" is not the same as "is simple". Try Lonewolf1507/Andy's advice. It…

I was running 5k in early April so hopefully I won't have to start at Week One again, but count me in regardless!

I regularly have a lunch that is just a series of snacks spaced out across the day, typically: Carrot or celery sticks with dip (usually hummus, tzatziki or eggplant) An apple A handful of nuts (almonds, pecans, and walnuts) A hardboiled egg with dukkah Plain or Greek yogurt with berries or tinned peaches or apricots I…

Hey, welcome! My tips: 1. be honest with yourself and track everything. 2. stick with it and stay positive! You can do it!

Welcome! Have a look at what your allowance would be if you set it to a higher weekly weight-loss goal. I personally like to keep that in mind while I have my weekly goal set to 1lb/week. I aim to have my daily calories fall somewhere in between the two allowances to give myself a little leeway. Play around, see what works…

Oh wow! Well, do whatever feels best, I suppose. It's great that you'll have lots of face-to-face support with your gluten free friends! You CAN do this :)

If i want something that tastes like dessert, I'll have cocoa. Two teaspoons of actual cocoa - not hot chocolate powder! - is only about 8 calories. Add milk of your choice. I used to prefer a lot of milk and made the cocoa with half hot milk and half boiled water, but now I'm happy with a much smaller amount. Oftentimes…

Hi and welcome! If gluten is causing you and your family discomfort, I'd get it out of the house. Maybe you have some extended family members or friends who could take it off your hands? I know it can be tough to see food that's otherwise perfectly good go to waste. You've got a lot of big dietary changes going on, and…

"Diet" food! Gross!

I don't believe in cheat days. Occasions when I might over-indulge? Sure, but I'd never call it cheating. It's my life, and I do my best to live it AND love it!

I think I'll have to try this one!

Dermatologists can disagree all they want, but I know that my own acne is definitely linked to my diet. Too much sugar and my T-zone erupts, and my skin tone and appearance is generally better when I've avoided overly-processed foods and stuck to whole foods. My standard skin-care routine is as follows: Wash in the shower…

Try a stir-fry! Your choice of vegetables - aim for mostly leafy greens (bok choy and cabbage are great) and make sure everything's sliced pretty finely. Meat of choice - cut into strips or mince Brown your meat quickly in a large frypan or wok with a little oil then add your vegetables. Make sure you've done all the prep…

I find olives and artichoke hearts will satisfy a similar craving. As long as they're not in oil, they're very low calorie. The strong flavour means I'm content after just a few - same with pickles - and I don't want to eat any more. But again, watch the sodium content :)

Excellent! I must try these.

Take one apple (I prefer green) and cut it into small chunks. Microwave it for about a minute. Add half a cup of frozen berries (I usually use blueberries) and add to the bowl of apple. Mix it a little and microwave it for another minute or a little more if it's cold in spots. Top with a little cream or yogurt and some…
