  • Sodium = fluid retention = weight gain Also, sodium is not good for your heart and will increase your blood pressure. My body is VERY sensitive to sodium and I find it harder keeping my sodium down than cals. Also remember to drink a lot of water to help keep your system cleansed. I try and drink 1/2 my weight in ounces of…
  • Stick with the healthier stuff - veggies (onion, green peppers, tomato sauce/paste, kidney beans, green chilis) add some grounds beef and call it a chili night :) You could add some shredded cheddar and cream cheese if you're looking for something creamy but generally those additional cals aren't worth it.
  • I turned away eating more than 26 "Butter Toasted VA Peanuts" :) They are YUMMY!!!
  • Yeah, the metformin can cause issues but you might want to talk to your doctor about starting with a smaller dose or trying the time released variety. I think it's called Metformin XR or something like that. Metformin is really designed to be taken in conjunction with good eating and exercise. Unfortunately, one thing is…
  • I just started the 30 day shred for the first time yesterday. I can honestly tell you I HATE jumping jacks, push-ups and abdominal exercises :) But that's why I think this is going to be so good for me. I figure it's only 22 minutes a day - I can do this! Feel free to friend request me if you need some additional support.…
  • Fellow PCOSer here:) Although our road to weight loss is MUCH more difficult than most IT IS achievable. The only thing that I found that works for me is a lot of exercise, limiting my calorie and sodium intake, and taking Metformin. All 3 work together and if you really want it and work hard you can lose weight. I started…
  • Cheers! Thanks for sharing this story and remember baby steps!
  • I have gone from a size 24/26 to a size 14 over the past 7 months from exercising and logging what I eat on MFP. Please feel free to friend request me and we can help keep each other motivated. Good luck from one Karyn to another :)
  • It really sucks when you have negative people around you but we all know that they will always be there. Try to rise above it and like others have mentioned remember that you are doing this for yourself and that it doesn't matter what others think/say. Good luck!
  • Congratulations! 32lbs is GREAT!! Keep up the good work and you will continue to see results. Although my weight loss has slowed down I am still losing inches and that to me is just as rewarding. Best of luck to you!
  • Initially I was thinking 100lbs but at this point I think I would happy if I lost 75lbs. I feel like a totally different person now - more energetic, better mood, less irritable, and generally just a happier healthier person. I also can't complain about the improved sex life with my husband :) We've been together for 14…
  • Thank you very much young1726 and best of luck to everyone!
  • What does 2011 mean to me? It means if I continue with the lifestyle change I started back in June 2010 that I will continue to feel great by eating healthy and exercising. For me one means nothing without the other. I have the metabolism of a snail and a hormone imbalance that makes losing weight very challenging so if I…
  • You look awesome and are an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations!!!
  • I personally LOVE working out the day of an event. My mood is always better on days I work out and it doesn't hurt to burn a few extra calories just in case you want a drink...or two :)
  • I started my lifestyle change back in June and after 6 months my only regret is not starting sooner :) Since I am a boarderline diabetic I really have to watch what I eat: less sugars and white starches and limit my alcohol consumption. I also learned that when I eat things with more sodium I feel terrible. Once you start…
  • Feel free to check mine out. Please keep in mind that this is an exceptionally tough time of year. I try and log everything I eat down to the pat of butter and the lonely broken xmas cookie begging to be eatin...
  • Welcome to MFP! This is a great place to help you make a lifestyle change. Best of luck!

  • You look AMAZING!!!
  • Sorry to hear of your difficulties over the past few months. 2010 has been a particularly challenging year personally for me as well. What I have taken away from my experiences is that I need to be the healthiest person that I can be. Sounds selfish right? I think the opposite. I have found that people around me find that…
  • Wow!!! You look great! Congratulations
  • I love my renewed faith in myself. For YEARS I thought I was a hopeless case and didn't think I had it in me to turn things around and get healthy. This has been a very rewarding experience and the lifestyle changes that I have made make me feel more alive now than ever. It also doesn't hurt that I have killer legs :)
  • I'm currently 5'9" and weigh 190lbs and my goal is 140-150.
  • I'm game - we have very similar goals.
  • I was floored when I found a beautiful cocktail dress in a normal store the other night. It clicked - I've gone from a size 24 to a size 14 in 6 months and I couldn't be more proud of myself. Something I can honestly say that I haven't felt in years :)
  • Don't beat yourself up - weekends are my weakness too! I try and workout both days on the weekend to try and make-up for some of it. I also weigh-in on Weds mornings so that my body has a few days to detox :) Drink plenty of water and remember to log EVERYTHING you eat. I realized that it's okay to splurge but that…
  • I will be happy with my body when I feel confident enough to book a vacation at one of those "clothing optional" resorts :) It would also be nice to be able to do a headstand in yoga w/o my stomach sitting on top of my chest...
  • I weigh in after going to the bathroom once a week in the morning. I like Weds mornings because it gives me a few days to work off a few extra calories that I may have consumed over the weekend :)
  • My Mom's Dressing/Stuffing w/ gravy....yum!!!
  • I look forward to wearing stylish bathing suits. Why do most larger size bathing suits come in Grandma prints and have skirts? I look forward to being able to do a headstand in yoga w/o my stomach sitting on top of my boobs :-) I look forward to weighing less than my husband (6'2" and 165lbs...damn him!!!) I look forward…
