If you actually read those articles, you will see that the writer also advocates FOR intermittent fasting. He may not agree with how Dr. Fung got to the conclusion, but he does agree on the conclusion that a low-carb, intermittent fasting diet is best for those with Insulin Resistance. What I don't agree with, however, is…

Arizona's laws are super lenient on lasering so it's very inexpensive here. I have PCOS and therefore I was VERY HAIRY in places girls just should not have hair. But for $89 a month, I have a full body membership for laser hair removal. I still pluck and wax my eyebrows, but everything else is lasered smooth. My arms and…

Are you being treated for the PCOS? I am in the same boat as you. Being on metformin makes it substantially easier to lose weight. You still have to do the work and eat at a deficit and exercise, but metformin helps with the insulin resistance that made us gain all this weight in the first place.

It's been about 2.5 years since I started this journey but one of the main memories I have is that I was no longer able to fit comfortably into the booths at more and more restaurants. Between that and needing a seatbelt extender to fly, as well as having to put the driver's seat of my car all the way back and STILL have…

I gain 5 pounds during my period and lose it again in the last few days. Totally normal. Keep doing what you're doing!

Actually, the self checkout lanes replace low-paying cashier jobs with high-paying programmer jobs. So don't worry, you're not putting someone out of a job.

I am in the same boat. I am allergic to formaldehyde (skin patch test). I went cold turkey quitting aspartame about 7 years ago, not really knowing if it was going to stop any of the random things that were wrong with me. I noticed within a couple days that my random dizzy spells went away completely and never returned. I…

You only ruined your journey if you build it up in your head like that. Momentum is everything in this journey, so don't let a couple bad days get you off track. Stay strong!
-
This may not be a popular opinion but I had what you describe when I was a diet soda fiend. I can't consume aspartame without problems. :(

Ok, before getting lasered from head to toe... I was extremely hairy from PCOS and since I'm still pretty overweight, shaving my entire legs was a huge job I reserved for special occasions. I basically wore pants all the time, shaved from the knees down if I wanted to wear a skirt or capris, and my fiance just put up with…

Um, save up for laser hair removal. It's worth it. If it's expensive in your state, look at neighboring states that you can drive to every 6-8 weeks to get it done. I go to a place where I live (Phoenix, AZ) and they have a special for $2000, I get 2 years of unlimited hair removal. I'm about a year in and I only shave my…

So awesome to hear of someone who managed to cure his sleep apnea! I think my AHI was in the 60's, although I never really felt like I had a huge problem. My fiance was much worse and would sleep from the time he came home from work until going to work again, and he was only awake maybe 12 hours all weekend. He was also…

Another vote for the FitBit One. Since it's a small clip-on, it's easy to put anywhere. All of my family members who are FitBit users use the One. I have a couple friends with the wrist versions. I started with the original FitBit which was a clip-on, then moved to the Ultra when it came out, and now I have the One. I just…

Tapering off is the only way to go... cut my withdrawal headache to just a couple hours. Ibuprofen wouldn't even touch that headache.
-
The FitBit One is water resistant - as in, you can splash it but not submerge it. Since you got to it quickly it's probably fine! Good save!

I'm allergic to formaldehyde and I would still get a vaccine, because dealing with a rash or anaphylaxis is far easier than dealing with the diseases that vaccines are meant to prevent. The guy who said vaccines cause autism was BLATANTLY LYING and lost his medical license. He fabricated test results to help a friend win a…

I would recommend shared "suffering" and baby steps. Or possibly a wager of some sort where the loser has to do all the laundry/mopping/vacuuming/whatever for a month... or maybe something bedroom-related, like if she fails in her goal, she has to give you a *B*reakfast *J*ack once a week for a month. (that joke makes more…

I never test with high fasting blood sugars, but the fact that I have every other PCOS symptom including cysts on my ovaries, I asked my GYN to put me on it anyway, and she did. It has really helped level off my weight fluctuations and has helped my calorie deficits actually result in weight loss. My GI symptoms are mild…

And yes, they do have a panic button in the tank. :)

http://www.truerest.com - this is where I went for my experience. I've done this once. It was a pretty strange experience. From what I understand, the first session is very much about getting used to it, and you get more benefits from all the sessions after the first one. If the place you're going to has a similar pod, it…

That's a great story! Just enjoyed my 12th New Year's kiss with my wonderful fiance! We haven't missed one yet. :D

696 days! Almost to 700, and soon I'll be at two straight years!!!

At your weight, 2 pounds in 2 weeks sounds like a perfect pace.

http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2012/07/24/3549931.htm ^ An obese man went 1 year and 17 days without food. He lost 125 kilograms of weight and only regained 7 after going back on food. He was constantly monitored , given multivitamins, and did experience some low potassium in the middle which they resolved by…

I have also stumbled and taken breaks over the last two years but I haven't gained any of it back. Refuse to go back! Maintaining is always better than gaining. You'll find the motivation again. :)

YES! I don't know of any chain that gives the driver the delivery charge, MAYBE a portion of it. You should be tipping $2 *minimum* on a single large pizza, but preferably $3. More if they are delivering in bad weather, you have a larger order, or you know you're pretty far from the store. If you can't afford to tip the…

My fiance and I have it worked out to where all of our bills (mortgage, two cars, gas, utilities, cell phones, etc) can be completely covered using one of our incomes, so that if one of us has a lapse in employment, we don't have to worry about losing things. We are in the process of selling our current house of 9 years…

I currently live near 7th St and Bell too! (at Central and Thunderbird, in Moon Valley), but I go to 24hr Fitness at Metrocenter when I go. I'm moving to 43rd Ave and Happy Valley in the next few days and I'll probably go to the 43rd and Bell location or switch gyms, but I'm like a midnight workout kind of gal so I'm not…

I agree with the "time of the month" suggestion. I have trouble controlling my appetite and often have a little binge during it. Coupled with a 5 pound water weight gain, let's just say that my drive and stamina is only good 3 out of the 4 weeks of the month. :\ Also, sometimes it just seems like the constant deficit…
