I also recommend joining the Low Carbers group on here for more supportive advice. I lost around 20 pounds in a few weeks on low carb and kept it off, even when I switched back to calorie restriction. The people who "gain it back" are typically the ones who only lost 3 or 4 pounds with it. You WILL gain back 3-4 pounds…

You've already identified your problem. Now you must decide how to stop it (or if you want to). Are you drinking just to fit in? If so, order one drink to start off the night (say, a rum and Diet Coke) and then just drink Diet Coke the rest of the night. Your friends won't know the difference. Just order it at the bar…

Great job! You're so cute, too! :D

Another vote for C25k! I just started week 3 and I'm amazed at how I'm able to run a little farther each time. Just like you, I am finding that walking fast isn't really enough to feel like I'm doing something anymore. I weigh just under 300 pounds and I keep a good eye on my form (I even almost ran into a parked car once…

I can't say enough good things about the FitBit. I got one back in August, and since then my mom, fiance, aunt, and a friend all got one, and my sister wants one that my aunt and I are going to buy for her this week. I have a chest strap HRM that I use to track when i specifically go out and exercise but the FitBit is…

Good for you! Diet Soda and I don't get along at all! It causes me cravings, increased appetite, severe lower back pain, and headaches/dizzy spells. It's all about water, water, water!

At certain times of the evening, you can find a group of 18-24 year olds using the pool for social hour when the sign clearly says "Lap Swimming Only" and there's only 3 lanes. Plus, this is a gym, not a social club! One time, I was sitting on a random bench waiting for this texting guy to move his butt off the inclined…

Follow up: I just finished Week 3, Day 1 successfully! It was very difficult, but then again it's always been difficult... but I did it! I hope you decided to power through and do it, too!

I don't have a problem with side aches (I think they're called side stitches) but I just finished week 2 of C25K. I seriously considered doing the week 1 routine a few more times but then I changed my mind and decided to trust the program and I was amazed that I was able to finish week 2! (And I just got under 300 pounds,…

Do you have pictures? That's an incredible amount of weight lost in a short amount of time... around 4 pounds per week.

I think it's normal and OK too. I refuse to eat anything that isn't WORTH the calories and I try to eat stuff that I can eat a LOT of because it's not very calorie dense. Of course something you just HAVE to enjoy something (like a can of Pepsi... mmmmm) and the calories get budgeted in. I think it's very good that you've…

I absolutely LOVE mine... it's a GREAT motivator! I've already got one for my mom, my aunt, and my fiance as well (which just makes it even more competitive!). My aunt (the most recent recipient) has had hers for almost 3 weeks and she's already pushed today to get her 20,000 step badge and she is hugely motivated where…

I very rarely wear makeup. Eating better and exercising has made the skin on my face even better than it was before.

I am definitely a binge eater (recovering, I hope). Here are some ways to help (from my own opinions and experiences): 1) Log what you eat before you eat it. See what it's going to do to your goal for the day and give yourself an opportunity to change your mind before it's already in your stomach. 2) Take it a day at a…

I've been reading and watching the Success Stories forum for months now... it's so awesome to be able to post something of my own! :D

I've said this on other threads... if you want the numbers to be the most similar, tell MFP that you're sedentary. If you don't, it adds some "estimated" calories burned. I use MFP to log calories in and FitBit for calories burned. Sync the food over to FitBit because it has a great calories burned vs. eaten graph that I…

<-- me! I joined the proper group. Didn't know it existed. :D

One might be miffed at grouping atheists and satanists together. :P

Aspartame has documented side effects for many (not all) people. Some people can drink it without a problem, and others (like me) have problems. I used to be a religious Diet Pepsi drinker and when I read about all the problems it can cause (especially the website with the rat tumors), I gave it up cold turkey and only…

From what you've said, he's probably serious. He's probably always liked you but accidentally got into the "friend zone". (Hence his not wanting you to have a BF) Ask him if he's serious, and if he is, go on a practice date. Pretend you just met and are getting to know each other. Some of the best relationships are born…

I think you're measuring as mmol/l... I measure in mg/dl. So, what you guys are saying is to measure 2 hours after eating? If you've eaten 0 carbs, would that mean in 2 hours, your blood sugar level shouldn't change? What sort of change in blood sugar should I see if I've eaten too many carbs? That's what I'm trying to…

You can also try Morton's Lite Salt which is made from potassium chloride. Mix that with regular salt so you get sodium and potassium. Maybe they aren't getting into your system enough in pill form? You can also drink low-carb drinks like Vitamin Water Zero to get your electrolytes.

If you're really not feeling it, it's OK to take the evening off and try again tomorrow. Remember that it takes 3500 calories OVER what you burn to gain one pound of fat. If you didn't go over by that much, the 1 pound gain on the scale is water, and food in your digestive system. It WILL go away again. It may help you to…

I have been using Endomondo for my distance-based exercises for a few months now. I just got a WahooFitness HRM (chest strap) and I can verify that Endomondo does use the heart rate to give a more accurate calorie burn. It also includes it on the graphs. Works very well!

Ooh, runner's socks. Sounds intriguing. I'll check out both of those suggestions. Thanks!!

I sent you a friend request since we're almost in the same exact boat with our weight loss journey. It's great that you're already exercising a lot because it's going to make it so much easier for you to keep going now that you're counting your calories. The KEY is to find shortcuts to fulfill your cravings without…

LOL awesome! I'm so glad you said something to her - it was completely and totally deserved! It's amazing how some people react when they hear about your weight loss progress. I was at the bowling alley last night and they accidentally overcharged me and the manager (for some reason) couldn't just fix it and give me the…

Wish I could tell you... we don't get to choose which areas our fat goes away from first. I, too, am cursed with a large butt that I'm hoping will go away.

Contact FitBit support. I've heard from multiple people that they'll replace a lost unit. I have worn one since August and it has never fallen off. I clip it to my pants pocket, my shirt, or the strap of my bra where I can read it.
