  • It's been a while since I dipped my toes into the murky waters of windows PCs (being a mac convert for a few years) but I would say the tower has the better CPU whereas the all-in-one has the better graphics performance. So I guess it boils down to whether you are going to do more graphically intensive work or not. If you…
  • Are you hydrating enough before, during & after your run?
  • You've done all the interval training so now forget about times, get your playlist on your music player, go at YOUR OWN pace - dont push it. Take however long it takes to do the 5k, whatever time that is. That sets your benchmark time which you can work towards beating on subsequent runs. I've done 3 or 4 now and still…
  • NICE !!! Well done, great NSV!
  • lol, need my numbers to come through to afford that!
  • Wish I had the cash to go for that spec! The pic is just a representation, sort of like at the end of bullseye, here's what you could have won...... Frame would be the same but you spec nearly every other component from their bike builder web page, wheels I could go far are a bit heavier and a lot cheaper :)
  • Used to do lots of miles as a young lad on an old raleigh equip, did some mountain biking and a couple of touring holidays in my early twenties on a raleigh amazon and last year got back on 2 wheels to kick off my weight loss journey. Here's the stable as it stands today.... 1996 Marin Rift Zone XC - now in a sorry state,…
  • about 70 cals per 10 minutes at moderate effort, 110 for 10 for vigorous - varies with your current weight & fitness levels. HTH.
  • Started watching what I was eating Jan/Feb 2011, got back on my bike in the summer of 2011 and started logging food & exercise & properly monitoring myself just before the end of last year. Not at target yet, about 8 pounds off a major milestone (5st) where I will assess my weight / fitness / body fat and set myself a few…

  • Hi, I' Andy from near Glasgow - feel free to add me
  • Yup, I love cycling and it's the exercise I fell back on when I started my weight loss trip, bought a city commuter hybrid style bike and build up from a very wheezy 8 miles to an easy 45 miler last summer and plan to aim for a century ride this summer. I have 8 pounds to lose to reach my main benchmark weight loss, the…
  • Another uk bod here, feel free to add
  • Wow, that's a big step up from week 3 to 5k ! Well done on finishing it! Keep at it and you'll beat it !
  • Yup, the rest days are there to give the muscles used time to recover, but that means you can do a different cardio, cross-training, something like swimming, cycling or elliptical if you have access.
  • Well done ksmorck, a lot of hard work & perseverance and you have reached your goal. Excellent ! - Know what you mean about the after 5k routine, I feel a little lost not having 3 set runs a week to get to the next week, so I'm going to try work the runs in as often as life allows - managed another 5k this morning and…
  • I got the Crivit HRM from lidl on Monday (£15 bargain) and the chest strap is plenty huge & elasticated, can't see it being a problem.
  • I got these for running/gym work....nike Span 7 I'll be honest, I got these because they were on sale and in my size...with size 12 (uk) feet you often have to take what's in stock rather than what you like. Luckily I liked the look and comfort so it was a win! Very comfortable but not the lightest - not been to get a gait…
  • I used to be a boredom grazer, wander through to the kitchen, couple of biscuits, bag of crisps, can of pepsi max and then back an hour later for some toast or cereal. I recognised this as a problem and did not replace these items in the weekly shop, if they aren't readily available then i can't have them. If i'm desperate…
  • Its a great site for help & information, feel free to add me
  • Thnx Chiltoneator & congrats on hitting the 5k too! I bought a Marin San Rafael, hybrid bike to get myself back into biking, I used to do a lot of road riding as a youth, then mountain biking in my twenties then couch surfing for 15 or so years. The Marin is a great leisure bike, suspension forks up front and a spring in…
  • True. I'm only just reaching the place where if I slip I rectify it with an extra swim/gym/run but the 20 years before this point was a very different story. My consequence of being "naughty" was to compound the problem with more food, more guilt, less self respect and so on and so on...until the high street shops don't…
  • About 400 cals an hour for me - it's in the exercise diary - gardening, general...HTH
  • Make sure you count in the gardening in your exercise diary - it all helps.
  • Guilt isn't productive, it's destructive and often leads to self sabotaging behaviours, such as punishing yourself with food, which then repeats the cycle. Recognising that a slip has happened and resolving to make a better choice the next day is a healthier approach.
