imho the best home gym kit you can buy, utterly bombproof.

vivoactive. It has gps so i can track running and trekking it has step accelerometer so i can track steps and work to my 10,000 step goal. it also warns me if i have been too inactive for a duration. it has bluetooth so i can link it to my heart monitor it has garmin connect so i can log all my data
-
wear a heart rate monitor and use an app that shows calories burnt. I use a mio wrist heart monitor and icardio app on my ipad.
-
I climbed Ben Nevis yesterday, took me 8 hours up and down. Slightly stiff today!
-
get fitted for proper running shoes at a dedicated running shop if possible.
-
a heart rate monitor would be great for getting a more accurate figure. 200 cals for 30 mins is roughly what i get when spinning at a moderate pace, but i weigh around 170. So it looks like the bike is using a basic algorithm to calculate the calories burnt that doesn't take into account your height and weight.
-
Vivoactive. Like that it can track daily steps and doubles as a gps watch for running.
-
open your food diary and we can analyse your data. You are logging everything you eat, right?
-
you can get hurt doing any form of exercise if you aren't careful.
-
Fitbit ZIP. I have the ONE but sounds like you don't need sleep tracking, so the ZIP would be the cheaper option.
-
if you are tired due to physically working all day then you don't need to exercise i would have thought. Otherwise make time. Unless your work is more important than your health and longevity
-
Would be interested in seeing these studies. Do you have any links? All i can find on the internet are anecdotes and opinion, nothing scientific.
-
There have been some studies that suggest that extreme exercise such as running 50-100 miles in one go can cause scarring of the heart tissue. I think your level of exercise is not quite at this level! The evidence that moderate amounts of weekly exercise is beneficial to your heath is absolutely irrefutable. Your current…

get a gymboss interval timer and set it to vibrate every 30mins or so. Then walk to the coffee machine/water cooler/wheverer and back.
-
skipping rope and you are set to go. I presume you can spare a few measly bucks for a jump rope? An example workout from the web: How it works: Do the circuit twice, resting for up to 2 minutes in between JUMP ROPE WORKOUT: 1. 1 minute jump roping with both feet together 2. 20 lunges (10 per side) 3. 1 minute…

This is due to your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). Your body burns calories, even when sleeping or not moving, just to keep you alive. Your fitness tracker makes a rough calculation that this is how many calories you burnt whilst sleeping. My garmin vivoactive comes up with a similar figure overnight.

I have a keiser m3. What a bike it is, beautifully made and a joy to use.
-
I've given up. If I manually add a workout with, say, 1400 cals burnt it never shows up in MFP. Even if i de-register/register. It's broke and Fitbit don't care to fix it.
-
anyone else still having syncing issues? Still can't get mine to sync with MFP, despite de-registering and re-registering multiple times.
-
nope, unreliable as ever

leg power. if you aren't able to pull the cable back strapless then you aren't engaging your legs properly. You need to drive harder at the catch using just leg muscles.
-
rowing strapless will also help your form. This forces you to drive with the legs
-
Mio alpha. No more annoying chest strap.
-
I like the mio alpha which is a wrist heart rate monitor and has the same accuracy as the chest strap but is far more comfortable. It still needs a receiver for the heart rate such as a smartphone or bluetooth2 device. It is compatible with my garmin running watch which is great.
-
Wut? Is this a wind-up?
-
i woud recommend supplementing your running with resistance exercises anyway. It will help in avoiding injuries and make you a better runner. Running is my primary exercise but i also use kettlebells and bodyweight exercises to strengthen my core and legs. For example:…

Amen brother.

Walking outside not an option ? Way cheaper and in my opinion more fun. Treadmills that can handle your weight will need to be of the commercial variety. So you are looking at brands like Lifefitness, Cybex,Precor,Star Trac,Landis. These types will cost several thousands. Anything cheaper will burn out or fall apart very…

Without seeing your food diary who can say?

the new gamin fr220 is awesome, i have had the previous 610 and this is far superior. Gets a signal in a few seconds usually. Very light and comfortable, decent vibrating alarm. The only thing i wish it had is wifi as opposed to bluetooth. I'd check out TomTom though, as their new watches have built in strapless heart…
