Taco Bell bean and cheese burrito (370 cal) and a diet coke. Not health food, but it keeps me from starving.

We spend ~$800 a month - 2 adults, 3 teenage girls at home, 1 married + son in law nearby and often eat with us. Our kids are homeschooled, so we provide all meals, 7 days a week. We are vegan-ish (some of us eat no meat, some of us do) so we eat a lot of meat-free or meat-optional meals. We buy our beef on the hoof from a…

I love Chobani. The pineapple is my favorite!

No way. I had a melanoma scare when I was in my 20s and swore off UV tanning in all forms. I'm glad to see some places are banning tanning salons, as they are undeniably a risk to human health. Another bonus, I am regularly told I look 10 yrs younger than I actually am, without botox or fillers. I think that's primarily…

I cook lentils and mix them with taco seasoning (or chili powder & cumin) and use them as a filling in tacos or gyros.

I pulled my kids out of public school and successfully homeschooled all of them, while working a full-time job. Even the NEA estimates that actual instruction is only 20% of a teacher's day; management and administration is the other 80%. It's not the fault of individual teachers... most are dedicated, caring people. Our…

I'm only 5' 9" but I wear 4 inch heels almost every day, and 6 in platforms on some days. I love it when I'm the tallest person in the room... LOL

It usually depends on if it's a 1x service, or weekly, bimonthly or monthly... and the size of house/mess. A 1x full clean for a 3-4 bdrm house around here runs $200-$250 - more if the cleaner is doing a full cleanout (removing trash/debris, etc.). A weekly or biweekly cleaning service is about $100-120.

Okay, then let's say I'm a veg*n and I'm offended that you're feeding your kid a hamburger. It offends my sense of morality and decency. Should I make you take your kid to the public restroom to eat? Or have you do the offensive feeding in the privacy of your own home? No. People in a free society get to make choices,…

Because it's the cultural norm. I suggest you stay on your side of the pond if you don't ever want to be exposed to other cultures and cultural values.

Duly noted!! (and the "we don't care what the world thinks of us" actually represents a small number of Americans, in my experience.) I can't imagine how the prudish would feel living in another country. When I lived in India, you would regularly see people going to the toilet on the side of the road. In South America,…

Spoken like a true Yank.

Just know that 90% of the rest of the world thinks you Americans are crazy for even having this debate. :flowerforyou:

COFFEE!! and 6 oz. Greek yogurt + 2 Tbsp granola or 1 Banana or 1/2 DKB Halo (whole wheat bagel) toasted with 1 Tbsp. light cream cheese or peanut butter

^^This! In fact, most beaches outside of N. America have a good chance of offending the prudish!

The yoga was on DVD but it might be online now. Check out the link on youtube... it looks like they've put a lot of the exercise sequences online... for free!! http://www.youtube.com/user/successinthesaddle?feature=watch I personally do a lot of squats, presses, windmills and halos with a 4 kg kettlebell. Then I do various…

Is this just an American thing? Because I haven't noticed this level of anxiety in other parts of the world. If your baby needs to eat, feed it. If you're concerned with modesty, cover up, move to a private space, or something else. If you're concerned /offended by someone breastfeeding, look somewhere else. Seriously, in…

Don't kid yourself... Canadian slaughterhouses are not better regulated. Animal cruelty is the norm, either side of the border.

It would be nice if "militant vegans" could become more tolerant of people who choose to use animal products, even in a limited and/or thoughtful fashion. If everyone (like me) who is trying to reduce their consumption and use of animal products, but can't yet give up my coffee creamer and the occassional sushi outing, was…

And, if you want to be completely dogmatic in approach, eating a vegan diet qualifies someone as a vegan about as much as eating a kosher diet qualifies someone as Jewish. So don't eat honey, but eat a non-organic piece of fruit that killed hundreds of insects in its production... um, okay.

Sick of veg*ns judging other veg*ns. Just sayin'.

My inlaws will be cooking their typical heart attack dinner: - Prime rib - Twice baked potatoes stuffed with copious amounts of butter, sour cream, bacon and cheese - Brocolli casserole (brocolli smothered in cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, mayo, and cheese) - Salad with bacon and blue cheese - Yorkshire pudding cooked…

I successfully completed rehabilitation therapy after my accident, only to find that I was 40+ lbs heavier than when I started. :-/ I remember going into my orthopedist and screaming "HOW FAT DO I HAVE TO GET BEFORE YOU FIX THIS???" Once I was mobile again, I figured out that I was miserable, not only because of my…
