I'm training for IMAZ in November! It will be my first Ironman. I have had a hard time losing weight while training hard. I recommend taking some time to focus on weight loss for about 8 weeks before hitting the Ironman training hard.

I agree with the advice above--arm warmers and leg warmers, but not pants or a long-sleeved shirt, unless the temps are going to stay below 50 the entire race. Then, it might make more sense to be more covered the entire time. I'm facing the exact opposite problem for my tri this weekend--the temps are likely to be in the…

Yes, this is my first (and I keep saying my only!!). I live in Arizona now so I figured that I should do the Ironman that's in my backyard. :) My goal is just to finish in the time limit and hear them say--You are an Ironman!!! How many Ironmans have you done? Any tips on what to put in my special needs bags?

This is really good advice above. I agree--start slow, get good shoes (get fitted at a running store--not a "regular" shoe store), and be patient. It takes time to build distance and you don't want to get injured.

Great job! I am training for the AZ Ironman in November, so I have been running at least one "big" race a month--Full marathon in Jan, Ragnar in Feb, 1/2 marathon in Mar, 1/2 Iron tri in April, full marathon in May, full marathon in July, 1/2 in November. That's what I have planned so far anyway!

This is a great idea! I've heard that taking pictures is a great way to keep on track and get inspired.

You look amazing!! I am almost 5 years post pregnancy and still working on getting rid of my pregnancy tummy. :) I had been falling back on the excuse that it was from pregnancy and I'd never get rid of it, but you are keeping me honest and motivated!

Remember that investing in your health is as much for your family as it is for you. Though I wouldn't commit to a program that requires minimum attendance until you know of its going to work, I would say that if you find a gym that works--the time is worth because it will enhance your life and lengthen it!!
