I did the vertical Sleeve Feb. 2012, with NO regrets. But with that said you have to change what you eat and your mind set about food. My father had his stomach 'stapled' in the '90s lost weight, did not change his lust for food, gained weight then had sleeve surgery in in 2008, still did not change his lust for food. He…

I have 2 favorite brands: Unjury - any flavor Total Nutrition's Intek Evolution - Cookies 'n Cream and their Orange Cream Protein Powders. Any of the store brand names gave me gas or an upset stomach. The Intek Evolution and Unjury are both easy to digest and taste good. Not gritty. I generally mix the cookies and cream,…

Take the pics, have photos of fun with friends! If you don't you could end up with a decade of no photos of your life and your loves! I agree with the new clothes! My 'fat' clothes were so stretched out, there is no way I could look anything but fat in them, even 90 pounds smaller!!! Pull out your new pics and compare them…

WOW! I am loving reading thru everyones posts! I have lost almost 90 lbs since surgery and 70+ since joining MFP. I am still a few pounds away from goal. But I definately have excess skin. I am pear shaped and most of my weight loss has been hips and thighs. When I sit down my excess skin puddles around my butt! In clothes…

I knew witin 10 days. But my surgeon's office worked directly with the insurance company on my behalf. The surgeon's office called the insurance company daily, gathered any additional information they needed etc. The surgeon's office would then call me every 3 or 4 days to give me an update. The surgeons office knew before…

Thanks for your input. I do have another round of blood work in a week, maybe that will give me some answers. I have already cut off 12 inches to lighten up the pull at the scalp, but really don't want to go any shorter. Thanks!

I'm from Tulsa, OK!!!! But I've been transplanted to Plano, TX

I started out walking on a treadmill, then moved to weights! I love to swim, but I don't do it! At about four months post-op I started losing hair despite 80-100g of protein a day and taking my B vitamins + Biotin! Pool chlorine would have made that even worse. I'm now 6 months post-op and the hair issue is starting to get…

Mine plateued too! Your body is adjusting. On your calories, at that point my calories were no more than 600 a day. My protein was at almost 80. I am now 6 months out and my calories are only 800 and my protein is 100grams. I began my journey at 240lbs. Maybe that will give you a reference point. I had a great nutritionist…

I've been married 23 years, I've been thin, I've been heavy. A big game changer is when you go thru the surgery and you have those non-scale vicotries, who do you share them with? Do you turn to your spouse and allow him to share the journey with you or do you turn to a co-worker, old school chum etc. Same with as you find…

I am 3 months out from surgery. I started out at about 240lbs and am now at 175lbs, I'm only 5'3". With that said I have exercised since I began my pre-op diet. I began by walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes, 3 days per week. I now walk at a much faster pace, for 40 minutes, at an incline, 4 days a week. I also…

I too am pear shaped. I've had large butt & thighs at 104lbs and even larger butt & thighs at 204lbs. It is the way I am shaped, I have worn a size 6 on top and still need a 12 for my hips and tighs! I get your frustration. Three children and 20+ years of marriage only made it worse. That said, my weight loss goal was also…

The most annoying person at my gym is the 45+ year old divorcee, who tries to act 'All Business' but hits on every guy in the gym. She talks about how every female in the gym is jealous of her arms, so that's why she only talks to guys. I've seen her leave the parking lot with several different guys. There is just an 'ick'…

I love the "you've lost a TON of weight" - I want to respond, 'yes that's it 2,000 pounds of weight gone!" My biggest irretant is the, "you can really tell in your face" - To that I would like to say, 'yes, my butt is still the biggest part of my body and I'm still working on it. But seriously, 50 pounds didn't all come…
