I have nothing to add to this conversation, but I wanted to see how it turns out, so I'm posting to get the updates :) I'm 5'4" and 16st. Pretty much textbook obese. I'm also struggling to get pregnant. I'm 37. The clock is ticking louder and LOUDER!! In a way - while all of you are unhappy with being overweight and…

Oh lord, me too! 2016 was a total wash out, gained 2 stone. Annoyingly I had already gained about a stone in 2015 and was trying to lose that already! I have been blaming the amount of travel for work I've been doing over the past year, which is amazing to hop all over Europe, but is too convenient an excuse for ditching…

I'd like to join in. I've put on an insane amount in the past year (about 2 stone) when I have been trying to lose weight, with increasing frustration from my doctor. I'm not sure I'll manage a stone before Christmas because my metabolism has crashed through the floor, but I'd like to think I could at least turn the tide…

Such a great idea for a thread! Just for today, I will: * stick within my nutritional allowance * NOT have a snack before bed (well, maybe just the one digestive) * Go for a 45 min walk

Blimey - I only posted an hour ago and already overwhelmed with the response! Thanks guys! I really appreciate the tough talking - honest reflection is usually what's needed in these cases. During my more successful weight-loss days, I too was dishing out the tough-talk to people who had lost their own motivation. Why I…

I feel your pain, I've stayed the exact same for two weeks since I came back to it after Christmas. So incredibly frustrating!! Especially when my sister goes and loses 6lbs in a week (but then she isn't eating properly). Enough about my whinging. I am trying to console myself with the possibility that I'm staying the same…

Thumbs up, like, whatever the MFP equivalent is. I too braved the scales this morning, and while I was horrified at what I saw, I'm still giving myself a mental pat on the back for facing my fear and the rapidly rising scale needle. Good luck - I personally am aiming to lose the Christmas weight by the end of January.…

I agree that, if this is a regular occurrence, a little self reflection is needed. But that is, of course, easier said than done - especially when reaching for the self-raising after a hard day. I too bake - but I just had to knock baking cakes and biscuits on the head, as the fella just doesn't eat the resultant cakes…

As someone who also spent a good deal of my formative years waitressing, I have several bugbears, both from waiting staff, and customers! So, in no particular order.... 1. Waiting staff taking plates away from some people before the remaining members of the party have even finished eating! Give us a chance! Makes the…

True congrats for sticking with it - although I would like to point out that you looked great before! I know no one wants to hear that after having put a huge effort in to losing weight, but I still think someone needs to say it. Basically, I do hope you're not beating yourself up about how you looked before, because you…

Don't beat yourself up about it, for a start! We all have slips and if you think that you need to 'punish' yourself for straying from the path of right-food-ness then you're only going to prolong the agony. Instead, accept that you had the chocolate, and remember how it felt to do so. Then, the next time you find yourself…

What a difference! Well done, you're doing really well :-) And well done for sticking with the healthy lifestyle during a plateau, these are the most difficult times to stay motivated.

Congratulations, that's great work :-)

I asked this question a few months ago as well as I was noticing quite a variation. If whatever you're exercising on gives you a calorie read out, maybe work out the average between what that says and what MFP says. At least that's what I do with my cross trainer :-) Might not be so easy if you're out jogging though...

Oh good lord I'm so with you on the skinny partner thing! My boyfriend is annoyingly skinny, yet still insists on eating large meals in a regimented style! And as I have next to no will power - if he's eating it, I will eat it.

Davina McCall is hugely popular.

HRM = heart rate monitor, right? My cross-trainer has one of those, based on beats per minute. How could I calculate that in the exercise section on this (apologies if its spelled out in a really obvious way on the 'track exercise' buttons!)

12lbs! Congratulations, that is a great start! Thanks for all replies, keep em coming if you have other suggestions. We'll see what happens when I weigh in this evening!
