I have a multiracial family too, also b/c of adoption. Me and dh are white, while our kids are hispanic (adopted from Guatemala), white (bio) and asian (our 2 yo daughter was also adopted from Korea at 9 months). It is somewhat rare, but I have witnessed racism since being a parent to children of racial/ethnic minorities.…

Until two months ago, I lived in Ottawa Hills, about a mile south of Yesterdog. I still live in W MI.

Are you from East Grand Rapids?

Say what now?

I have an extra rib. It's located in my left lower neck, just above the collar bone. I have had 12 miscarriages. My 3 kids are different races/ethnicities. I have a caucasian son (biological). A hispanic son (adopted from Guatemala). And an Asian daughter (adopted from South Korea).

Dh and I are both 6'. We have 3 kids--2 were adopted. So far my sons (1 adopted, age 5, 1 biological, age 4) are both hovering around average. My daughter was adopted from Korea and she is in the 90th percentile for height (age 2). haha! You never freaking know. My daughters bio parents aren't very tall tho, so I assume…

I never took measurements, but I had a decent loss. Starting weight on 1/1: 200 Weight on 2/1: 191.8 Goal weight for 6/1: 165

Last week wasn't great. I really slacked. This week I'm going to kill it. I weigh myself almost every day, so I'll weigh in on Wed.

What a GREAT idea!!!! I'm doing ok. Still plugging away. I still haven't taken measurements. I need to do that!!

I was just going to say that! I use regular milk, but it's the same thing otherwise. Frozen banana, a little milk. Sometimes I just eat it as is! Other times I drizzle a tiny bit of choc syrup on it with a few peanuts. Kinda tastes like either a banana split or a tin roof sundae! I have also popped a single serving size of…

Holy moly dzrogers! You are doing great--just don't burn yourself out! We've got a long way to go. I'm still on track (weight loss wise)! WOO HOO.

haha! I am seriously lol. I remember seeing a really tall young woman and thought "I wonder if she's taller than me?" so I nonchallantly walked beside her and had my friend judge to see who was taller. I was! womp, womp I see lot of tall women, but like many pp said, most are not taller than me. It can be a weird feeling…

I got some a little bit while growing up too. On my breasts and the back of my hips. They are very faded now (whitish) and I don't think anyone would be able to see them. I didn't get any while pregnant, lucked out there.

What a terrible situation for all involved. Honestly I don't think if I could proceed with an adoption if a bio parent was contesting within a couple weeks and seemed suitable. Still, I don't know all the facts. Very, very sad.

Congrats! I see a big difference in your stomach and back. You've done a great job. I'm 6'0" and am 196 too. :)

I am not on maintenance (yet), but when I have indulged, yes, I have had my weight go up as much as 5-7 lbs. If you go back to your calorie goals, I think you'll find the weight will slide back off in a couple days. I think a lot of it has to do with sodium/water retention.

I know my starting weight, but have yet to complete the photo or the measurements. I'm thinking about posting my before photo. What the heck, it'll be motivating. My hubby and I started P90X on 1-1-11. Holy moly.

I am 6 ft - goal is 160-165. This is what I weighed when I got married 8 years ago. But I know I still had a belly then, I am wondering if I should go lower. I'll have to reevaluate when I get there.

I have had hair loss 3 different times, and each was a different reason! Once was low thyroid, once was stress, once was low vitamin D (I live in a northern climate. Not much sun exposure, esp in winter). Good luck, it's unsettling.

My weight gain has been slow and gradual over 7 years. I've tried at various points to lose weight... usually halfheartedly. During the past seven years I've been almost continuously trying to get pregnant too. So I had limited motivation. Plus, I'll be honest... I've spent a good portion of the last 7 years pregnant...…

I don't really feel manly. Maybe it's b/c I am kinda girly. I like makeup and hair. I like pink. (although I rarely wear skirts or dresses. Hmmm). I have never minded being tall too much, so I don't associate it with much negativity. I am aware that I am tall, but sometimes I'm surprised how much bigger I am when I see a…

hahahahahaha Sounds good, stats coming your way Feb 1!

Yes, I think a way to check in periodically is a good idea.

Checking in to see how Operation Bikini 2012 is going! I'll admit I haven't been doing well. The holidays were tough. But I am recommitted and an ready to be fit in 2012!

Same here! 2 months after we were married my dad (age 50) basically dropped dead from a brain aneursym. The next 5 yrs in particular were very difficult. I've had many miscarriages (11 total), failed fertility attempts (3 IVFs) which set us back financially as well as being emotionally difficult, adoption attempts that…

I have been thinking about what to wear for my "before" picture. I certainly don't have a bikini now. And I will not do an underwear shot--NO WAY. Maybe a sports bra and shorts. Hmmmm. I am super duper cheap, and typically only spend about $20 on a bathing suit, but I seriously love this one.…

That's where we live. I'm originally from Holland. :) My whole family is gigantic too. Mom is 5'9", dad was 6'6" (died in 04), brothers are 6'7" and 6'4". Jenn - see that your dad died young too. Mine was 50. :(

Me too! Keep me updated on your progress!
