  • Wow ladies! Looking really good!
  • My neck was first to lose. An inch & 1/2 within 5 wks. Was worried I was going to look like those bobble-head dolls. Tummy not much yet.
  • I use baking soda in my bath with Epsom salts. It works wonders after long day in garden. Don't lift weights, but can get really sore after 6 hrs or so of yard work. 2 c epsom salt & 1 c baking soda. Throw in couple drops lavender & peppermint oil.
  • Good morning/evening ladies. It's a beautiful morning here, but going to be a scorcher today. (Around 30 Celsius). @ May love the miniatures! The time, talent, & patience you must have. Wish I'd found this group sooner, i would've commissioned wedding decorations from you, lol. (Shipping might've been impossible, tho.) @…
  • @Kitnthecat I thought it was my imagination, but I don't seem to be burning as easily either. I only use ss on my face now ( in my makeup) & I'm out for long periods in my yard.
  • My Dr recommended sunlight exposure to my eyes to help with thyroid function & for Vit d levels.
  • You are doing so good, way to go. Glad to hear your dizziness/exhaustion has resolved itself. Definitely getting my potassium & magnesium levels checked when I go for lab work next week.
  • Hello ladies. Nice to see all the new people we're picking up. Just got home from a marathon day. Was up & in hubby's office by 7:20 am to get daughter registered for her university classes. 2 hrs later we finally finished. (You almost need a degree to register for a degree). Then 3 hr drive to city for meeting at wedding…
  • My hair loss is above average too. It's very curly & thick also. My Dr wasn't too concerned & my hairdresser said curly hair does come out more than "normal" hair.

  • I've been increasing fats when my protein has gotten too high (>65g). Is this the right thing to do? I'm trying to stay at <16g carbs, 108g fat, & 65g protein. I'm between sedentary & lightly active. And confused.
  • Oh that looks so good! Maybe better than cookies, lol!
  • I was a bit nauseous at first because I really stayed away from fats never ever ate butter, cream, or milk. So my system did rebel a it at first. Am still only able to do butter in my BPC, the feel of it in my mouth makes me gag (I never did margarine either, olive oil for everything). Have you had anymore blood work done?…
  • You guys get on that (our own mixes). I'm not that great a cook otherwise I'd help. Seriously you don't want me trying to figure out anything cooking/baking related. But I sure would use dry mix recipes that could be stored.
  • You guys are embarrassing me. I don't exercise. I do put long hours in working in my yard, tho. And since starting this woe I find physical exertion is not triggering Hashimoto's crashes. Between the bad back, bad knee, & Hashi's (getting old sucks), I had become quite sedentary. I like Fit_Goat's 5 minute theory - makes…
  • Good morning ladies. Hope everyone's weekend is going well. Hubby got me up for quiet coffee on deck this morning. Told me it was 8:00 am but when I got outside, realized he'd lied! It was only 6. I am not a morning person (clock is on his side of bed for a reason). But I have to admit he was right (not that this will go…
  • I'm 60 odd days in with 14/15 lb loss. I stay at <16g carbs and around 1300 calories. Don't stress too much anymore if over on the calories.
  • Thanks for the links @Teneko. Just discovered the coconut oil I've been using isn't the right stuff (darn it). It was all they carry at local grocery store. So am getting the "real" (better) stuff in city next week. Definitely agree with @azcowgirrlup, want natural not manufactured.
  • Hello all. Hope everyone is having good weekend so far. @Janice I'll be there with Ellen for the borscht! It sounds delicious. Still planning exactly what I'll do with garden veggies when they're ready. Have tomatoes, beets, carrots, & peas. Then my fruit trees are chokecherry, saskatoons, crabapple, apple, strawberries &…
  • I'm so sorry you're struggling Ellen. The supplements really don't seem to be working for you, yet are for others. More proof we're not a one size fits all. I've been taking valerian for a week now & not noticing anything different (moods/sleep), but no adverse effects either.

  • I've been wondering about canning too. Love my relish, but has oodles of sugar. Pickled beets are a favourite, also. Canning is becoming a lost art.
  • Thanks @Teneko. Chia seeds don't grind up very well, but figured the hemp hearts would. What do you think about 1/2 butter & 1/2 cacao butter? Still get chocolate smell/flavour with goodness (butyrate) of butter.

  • My hemp hearts arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to try rocket fuel again. Think I will leave out gelatin first time, see how it goes. The chia seeds seem to make my colitis act up, will hemp hearts do the same? Also, any cosmetic products with hemp in seem to irritate my face. Raw as opposed to processed shouldn't bother me I'm…

  • Good morning/evening ladies.Just had to share. My mum called last nite to talk about this "thing" I'm doing. She wants to lose her tummy roll so wanted to know if I thought the belly fat eating foods Dr.Oz recommends would work. Strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, & avocado. I tried to explain LCHF, again. Then told her…
  • Still think maybe you should get tested for Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). It's an antibodies test. The antibodies attack the thyroid & only definitive test is the antibodies one. My blood work comes back hypo & next time hyper. Sometimes low end of the ranges, sometimes high (that's the way this stupid disease…
  • @Teneko I tried the rocket fuel. Might have been too many new things at once, but didn't really enjoy it. Subbed chia seed for hemp hearts as I left them at my daugter's, & knox gelatin for the collagen. Think will start slow with the cacao butter & try to get used to it's flavour also (love the smell). It's much richer…

  • I have the BPC for breakfast. Mine is 1tbsp unsalted butter, 1 tbsp hwc, 1 tbsp coconut oil in 1 cup coffee. I find keeps me full far longer than food for breakfast. I also add extra in on days when my protein seemed high & wanted more fats to stay keto (according to flexibleketo calculator).

  • @Jane you're hubby sounds so sweet. You're lucky he's joined this woe. Mine was mildly interested for about 24 hrs then decided it wasn't for him (potatoes guy all the way). He does find it odd that I eat whipped cream with cocoa powder for treats, while he's munching popcorn. Congrats on being a granny. I can understand…
  • My first name is ....Kathleen(go by Kathie) I chose my user name last time I was on MFP. I was still coaching figure skating & some people call me Kate. My birthday is May 7th. My favourite LCHF meal is BPC for breakfast and a well cooked steak.
  • Hi, I'm Kate. 51, 5' 2.5". I accidentally joined the LCHF movement after stepping on scale in April & realizing I needed to do something. I rejoined MFP & saw a thread "Over 50 ladies-our special needs". I never even looked at another woe after reading their posts. 50 was not my finest year. Multiple health issues…
  • I tried almond flour pancakes & they made me gag. Couldn't do more than 2 bites. But if you're already used to different flours, should be ok for you. (I know - pancakes aren't waffles, but similar idea).
