Lots of questions there  The 18 speed means 3 chain wheels up front and 6 out back, this is certainly a bit older, but that does not mean it is trash, the rear cassette (gears) have a good range, 32 - 11, but maybe I'm misreading this, but I think you said it had 3 up front and 7 out back, that would be 21…

Nice to find another thread on cycling!! Daniel, to put pics up here you need to use the lowercase IMG tags will not work, but if you change the tags to "img" it will and also the pics have to be fairly small, I find a max width of 450 pixels is about best. Oh I see that did not work either, the reason why, in…

Someone who is happy in their own skin is the biggest turn on for me :drinker:

Truly amazing! I bet that people who have not seen you in two years walk right by not knowing it's you!
-
You look fantastic, and I bet that pretty daughter of yours is really proud of her Dad! Way to go! :drinker:
-
Yep, that is quite the difference, and I'm sure you feel it every single day in how you can move and the clothes you can wear! Great work, congrats!

I saw a picture of myself and I thought "Holy moly, and I THAT fat...?" :noway: I was 301 lbs  I started to ride my bicycle again, then I found this site, my wife had suggested an app for my iPhone, but it was in Japanese and hard from me to use (we live in Tokyo) so I looked around and I found the app for MFP and the…

I completely agree, and do my best to live this way as well. I very much like these seven words..... "Eat FOOD, not a lot, mostly vegetables" Yep, works for me! :drinker:

Really great looking urban bike! If the pic works... Is that a three speed or? For around town casual riding, the handlebars above the seat it great!

I just got a new bike, it is an "Urban" bike, a 2010 Charge Mixer 8....... Tange Prestige Double Butted tubing, hydraulic disc brakes, 8-speed Alfine hub, 700c 36 spoke rims and a galvanized frame, it is my new designated tow bike for doing my deliveries. This frees up my other bike....... ... a 1988 Cannondale SM500 MTB I…

I'm bumping this too, I just found the thread!

I've been here since June of 2010, I've done well with it, lost 51 lbs, the app on my iPhone really helps. It is all fairly simple, eat less move more  be honest on what you are eating and log it all, and remember, it's not a diet, it is a lifestyle change :drinker:
-
Yep, only 1 calorie and a bunch of very unnatural stuff too. I stay away from it, when I drink it, I kind of go into slow motion, it makes me feel drugged. Maybe it will be fine for you, but I do find it slows my metabolism down a lot. I like Mugicha, that is a tea made from roasted wheat, I call it "Pre-Beer!…

Hi Nakki, I'm in Japan too, Tokyo. This is NOT a diet, it's a lifestyle change! I've done fairly well, but it takes time and it takes commitment to change your relationship with food. I've lost 50 lbs, about 23 Kg, but I've got another 50lbs or 23Kg to go! Gambatte!
-
I can add to the list.... Bicycle trailer 50lbs I've lost my bicycle trailer!
-
Welcome to the site, this place is great, lots of wonderful people here! So are you a cyclist too? Cheers!
-
Great blog post, everyone should take the time to read it!

Welcome to MFP! I'm in Japan! Learn to log everything you eat, be honest, and you will see how many calories you are actually eating. Also learn to eat real food, not the over processed stuff that comes in a cardboard box or foil bag, eat real food, not too much, mostly plants! Again, welcome!

Welcome Kay:flowerforyou: You can make way better choices with your food, you mention chicken, lose the skin, and fry it in a frying pan with just a little olive oil as well as baking it etc, and it can be a wonderful source of protein. Veggies, well it certainly is not the season, and I don't know where you live, but if…

We all get in ruts, I know I do, the important thing is to be able to recognize that you are in a rut and that you need to change something. You are looking fitter, healthier and happier in each picture, keep it up!

I agree, I've lost 48 pounds and I feel so much better than before, but I know I have another 75 pounds to lose. I have intermediate goals as well, some I met, some I had to miss, but I still have them, these too are important way stations along the road for me, but I want to live at 175lbs, I've not been there since i was…

Wow, just does not seem to cut it! You have truly changed your lifestyle, bully for you and for your kids! If you can, you should go back to that playground and take a new pic of you in that seat with your kids too! You have shown us all that WE all have the power, we just have to decide to use it :drinker:
-
You look great, keep it up, you are worth it! :drinker: Heck of a Christmas present you are giving yourself!

Born and raised in Kelowna BC, but I've been living in Tokyo Japan now for 20+ years! Welcome!

I step on the scale daily, but I only record once a week, usually Monday morning, I measure about once a month. Here is my reasoning, and it works for me. I've recently plateaued badly, but then again I've had a few issues to deal with:tongue: , I'm recovering from two cancer surgeries for a malignant melanoma, and I'm…
