There are quite a few supplements that can affect how your synthroid functions. I always take mine first thing in the morning on an empty stomach at least an hour before eating or taking any supplements.

It is certainly an adjustment period. I was diagnosed in 2010 with a TSH of 52. I was literally falling asleep in my chair at work, when not home sleeping away the other 16 hours of my day. Years into the diagnosis, my levels are still high normal but in Canada the struggle to find a doctor who knows how to properly treat…

No issues with nuts! I do natural almonds, but pecans are also delicious! Thanks!

Thanks! I do that as well but was feeling like I shouldn't rely so heavily on dairy. Is there anything else, aside from coconut oil, that I can use to hit my fat macro?

Oven baked Chicken breast. Start with a 9x13 glass baking dish. Preheat oven to 375. 1/4 cup EVOO 3T Siracha 1T chili flakes Brush onto the chicken breast (both sides) and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, spoon 2T of pico or fresh salsa over each breast. Top with 1 slice of the cheese of your choice. Place back in…

Soy = Estrogen It messes with your hormones. Bad news all the way 'round. You can do better. Eat real food - veg, meat, nuts, fruit. Can't go wrong.
-
If you're concerned about calories....which you shouldn't be....eat more fat. You'll get the most bang for your caloric buck that way - Coconut Oil, Clarified Butter, Avocado, etc.

I am in the same boat. I can tell you for certain that IBS = gut issues and food alergies/intolerance. I would look seriously at your diet and start by eliminating grains/wheat/gluten. I am in the process and the wheat elimation helped me lose 20 lbs that would not budge. Now I am moving on to dairy as next step. If you…

Awesome list, thank you for this!

I would also suggest reading The Primal Blueprint by Mark Sisson (check out his website too - marksdailyapple.com). His approach is right on. I am relatively low carb <60g/day simply by eating meats, veg, and fats. If you cut out the processed junk of the SAD your carbs will automatically be lower. Hard to eat 200+g carbs…

In my lunch every day is a tupperware container with: 1 cup protein (Steak, Chicken, Tuna) 1 cup veg (carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, grape tomatoes) 1/2 avocado *Sometimes I throw a sprinkle of cheese in there as a treat. 350 calories & 35g protein Healthy, Delicious and Filling!

Good for you! There are so many delicious and healthy things in this world - why waste calories on pre packaged, pre processed junk. I have 2 words that will rock your world: SPAGHETTI SQUASH

OMG - THIS IS SO WRONG I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE IT!! Educate yourself on cholesterol before spouting this nonsense. Geesh!

Chocolate pudding anyone? http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/desserts/avocado-chocolate-pudding/

THIS is some of the best advice....people need to educate themselves about the myth that fat is bad for you. Eat fat so your body won't hold on to the fat you do have for dear life. Eat fat = lose fat.
-
You're doing it right. Keep it up! % of Fat should be highest, followed by protein and then carbs, Fat fills you up and contrary to current wisdom fat does not make you fat it helps you lose it.

Feel free to add me all... 36 5' 4 and 1/4" No Kids Goal weight 125lbs I try to eat low carb paleo (but weekends are usually hard for me) and am a runner. I am about 25 lbs away from my goal and have lost a total of 85lbs to date. I log every weekday.

Wow, I have a hard time believing you earned that body by eating pasta and dinner rolls!

Most guys who don't like veg will still eat Cesar salad. Just a thought. HOWEVER, I just make a side of whatever I like, if the bf doesn't like it...he doesn't have to eat it. Not his mom or his personal chef.

Not to be "that" person but I would highly recommend women (especially) stay away from soy in any form. Also, the fat in milk (if you choose to eat dairy) is GOOD for you. Why soy is bad: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/soy-scrutiny/#axzz2KyZZgOLP Why fat is good: https://www.marksdailyapple.com/high-fat-diet-healthy-safe/…

I have a lowish carb suggestion: baked chicken breast topped with salsa & cheese with a side of "riced" cauliflower.

Way to go!!! Keep up the good work. Also, based on your profile pic, I think we are neighbours!!!

THIS!!! THIS!! THIS!!! I am 5'4.25"....and I agree with you and count all the extra height I can! 150 lbs (as of this morning) I eat 1200 a day and, while there are plateaus in every diet, carbs are the big killer. I let myself eat whatever I wanted over Christmas break, gained 7 lbs....all from carbs. Cut the carbs and…

Protein, Protein, Protein...and some fat. Steak, chicken, eggs, cheese, full fat greek yogurt, and so on. Oh wait...most importantly - BACON!! Just don't pile it on top of toast, bagels, or cereals as you will be defeating the purpose. Do this, feel full, lose weight. If you eat enough protein in the morning, there will be…

1 cup of frozen blueberries 1/2 cup or more 2% plain greek yogurt 3 scoops whey protein 1 cup Ice *You can, of course, sub the blueberries for your favorite berry medley or throw in 1/2 a medium banana

I run 30+K a week and eat lower carb (<70g) and keep my total calories around 1200. ((I have hypothyroidism and just cannot eat higher carb/calories and expect to lose weight)) Make sure you are getting enough protein and fat!! Just ran my 2nd Half Marathon on Oct 21 and did it with more energy, better mood, and 5 min…

Seems as though your doctor may be one among the millions out there who really has no clue. If you are not having adverse symptoms of "over-medication" than I would fight to remain on your current dosage. Make sure you are getting a copy of labs so you can take an active role in your treatment.

Full Primal is my goal but I still fall off the wagon more often than I would like. Going grain free has helped me FINALLY take off some lbs...17 lbs since end of Feb. I know I feel better, lose weight, lose less hair (big one for me!), and sleep a lot better when I eat this way.

Not true for some of us I am afraid. I have been "stable" on 112 Levo for a couple of years. My TSH was 52 when I was first diagnosed in May of 2010. Goal is to eat a net 1200 calories a day and averaging much less (other than a cheat day once a month MAYBE), running 30K and biking 30K a week. Eating low carb (gave up…
