  • This!!! I work out an extra time so I can enjoy hockey, beer, wings/pizza (they just go together!)
  • I`ve been getting them monthly for the last little while. And at first, they hurt like heck, but now I am starting to feel a difference. Although my back is a total mess, scar tissue all throughout it -- I`m hoping long term it helps
  • I exercise so I don`t have to restrict everything in my life. I enjoy exercise, its good for my heart and overall health and it destresses me. Then I can go and enjoy wings and beer once in a while too. These articles are excuses.
  • My family did this once when I was about 13. It was probably the worst Christmas we`ve ever had. Our family went to Disney over Christmas, and we were all just crabby. Now my family never goes away, because we just love it at home. Everything about Christmas at my parents is amazing. The food, the house, the warmth, the…
  • Well, since I`m Canadian, I`ve already had Thanksgiving. But I ate myself silly. And then was good the week after. I didn`t gain a pound (or even get off my weight losing path). So its one day, enjoy it!
  • You can actually give children`s Advil or Tylenol. And comfort measures. A cool cloth on her head, or even ice will bring that temp down. A cool bath also helps. And will make her feel better as well (less cranky).
  • These girls always make me chuckle. they can do whatever they want, but I like them for some good entertainment. If they want to pay to walk on a treadmill, heck, let them. Just turn it into entertainment!
  • I haven`t had a gym membership in over 2 years. And I`ve lost more weight not having one. What I do is: - Run outside (no treadmill for me) (you can always walk too) - Bike - In the Winter I do foot a bill for swimming (about 10$ a month) and go swimming - A weight training exercise video (or just do sit ups, push ups, arm…
  • Banana's are one of the best. We give alot of potassium at work (as the kids we have are on diuretics and stuff, and low or high potassium can cause arrhythmias). Often we give them a choice of taking straight potassium or a banana. (the taste of straight potassium is awful). Bananas are one of the best sources of…
  • Say no to diet pills. Often they do work in the short term. But long term they never do. Also, when used long term they can have serious effects on kidneys and liver.
  • Breakfast is basically whenever I get up. If I work nights, breakfast is at 4pm. If I'm not working at all, breakfast is usually at 11am (as I hate mornings). If I'm working days, breakfast is a two parter (usually a piece of fruit when I get up @ 5am), then a real breakfast at around 9am on a break.
  • Haha, oh I"m glad I found this just before Christmas --- I ahve more gag gifts to give away!!! Yes!!! Thank you!!
  • I won't lie, I will be gaining this season. I will NEVER give up on my Christmas eve dinner, its delicious and totally terrible for you! If I lose 10 lbs on the whole by next Feb, I'm fine with gaining 2 over Christmas. Not saying that most days I won't watch what I eat, and that I won't exercise. But to restrict myself my…
  • Haha, at work we get A LOT of junk food. Families of patients bring things in, and co-workers as well do, so its odd when there isn't food sitting in the break room. For me, I either just say no, or if I want one, I take half. Then I don't feel so bad about having something delicious! And then just make sure you eat…
  • For me, I like once a week (which is about 20x more frequent than I used to do). I feel like more often could become a little disappointing when you don't always see a change (at least for me).
  • My dad bites his --- I'm the same way (actually probably worse).
  • Cold.... just cold -- but clear. Snow will be coming soon enough (had about 12 hours of it last week, but it melted).
  • I'm not sure. I never ever ever got hit on when I was younger, but I never ever cared. Now, it depends on my mood, whether I think I'm as attractive as I am. lol. Today, I had a great day -- so today I feel hot. When I'm bumming around and don't feel good, I basically look as attractive as I feel.
  • The only fault I give to my parents is that my mom cooks TOO well. And she constantly makes too much food. My friends from work (whom I've done a few half marathons/triathlons with), always suggest going to my parents after a race because there will be unending food that is delicious. I moved back home, and gained weight…
  • I was going to say swimming as well. If I ever am sore or achy --- I go straight to the pool. Its relaxing, but you still burn calories. Its a great low impact workout. I usually do laps -- but you can do all sorts of aerobics in the pool too!
  • For me it depends... when I'm on an incline I run around 7mph. On average, I run around 6. I do interval running, so depending on the amount of intervals I do, I may be faster or slower on average.
  • I'm not a Zumba fan (as I am completely un-coordinated and it frustrates me + I'm not a fan of dancing... unless I'm doing it while cleaning alone). But what's the harm in doing it? You WILL burn calories, and you will burn more if you enjoy something because you will want to do it. Try it out -- if you love it --- stick…
  • It would be soooo easy to lose weight when you have someone making you get out of bed and go to the gym, you have constant child care, and a personal chef!
  • I think its up to you. Of course, its not all that good for you to drink excessively constantly, but all about moderation. I am not giving up a beer in the locker room after a really great hockey game, just because I might not lose that one extra pound.
  • Exercising is easier for me too. I am happy that I've done this to highlight some of my awful eating habits, but on the whole, I'd rather just exercise and not worry about calories all the time.
  • I have no problem sleeping, but often people I work with do. Most people at work who do (sleeping all day is hard for some people during night shifts) take melatonin. It seems to work well for them.
  • I put in cooking/preperation the other day, because I did a long cooking day with a group of friends --- and we cooked for a full 12hours - including serious perogie dough rolling). So I figured, I actually was achey by the end of the day, so I counted it. (I wouldn't normally do that though).
  • I always have popcorn. You can get some really awesome bags of popcorn (100 calories) and its a little buttery adn a little salty.... it kicks my chip craving.
  • In my opinion, if you don't really ever deal with young children, elderly or those who are immunocompromised then don't bother with it. As a nurse, I am not forced to get it... but I do get it so that I am not spreading it to someone who could be killed by it.
