  • I don't do wheat, so I get a salad. Load up on all the veggies you like. Sauce on the side. Bottle of water. Good to go!
  • It all depends on your reasons, your body, your goals, your relationship with your sister, etc. We can't know all of those things. Me, I am vegetarian, celiac, and have other dietary restrictions as well. There are plenty of times where there is truly nothing that I can eat when I go some place. So yeah, I take my own…
  • Are you kidding? If someone held a gun to my head when I was PMS'ing and threatened to shoot me if I at what it was I was craving, I would RIP the gun right out of his hand, shoot him where it counts, shove it down his throat, and eat my chocolate. Then I'd cry. So I don't suggest you try this at home. LOL. Pam
  • Welcome! Let us know what your needs are, we are happy to help.
  • I think it is interesting that many of us have not been our ideal weight since junior high/middle school.
  • Can you give an example of what you eat that makes you exhausted? I don't know what you mean.
  • I am *not* a hugger. Even my hubby and son have to give me enough warning, and not try to hug me while I'm cooking dinner! So do you have a strategy for this event? Carry something so you don't have free arms? Work the two-handed (or one hand, other hand on arm) "I'm so genuinely glad to see you" hand shake? Perfect the…
  • My current weight - not since I was 15-17 (so over 20 years ago). I want to lose about 10 more, and probably haven't been that low since I was 13. My hubby is also down to his junior-high weight (still overweight, though) and kiddo is 13. So it's like we're all in junior high again!
  • I still do walking, yoga, maybe some dance on my rest days. I still want to be able to eat! And I don't like the sluggish way I feel if I just sit all day.
  • I second not buying any crap or keeping it in the house before your period. Take primrose oil and a multivitamin/mineral supplement all month. Exercise hard in the days before your period hits. If you do end up splurging a bit, get some more exercise in, but give yourself a little leeway. One or two days isn't going to add…
  • I'm not into shakes anyway, but it's got rice in it, so it's out for me!
  • Just modify if you need to, and remember that the first day you try it will be the hardest, it will get easier after that.

  • Get in a workout before, lunch, or after work. Do as others have said, make sure that you stand up or move around in some way several times an hour (there are reminder apps you can get on your computer), take stairs at work, use FitDeck Office or Travel cards.
  • If you're going to the grocery store anyway, pick up some raw fruits and veggies to snack on, hummus for protein, supplement with whatever else you eat - whole grain crackers, yogurt, milk, string cheese.
  • I wish I could find dried cranberries that weren't sweetened. Especially not with corn syrup (glucose/fructose).
  • Vegetarian, celiac, completely grain-free (no corn, rice, sorghum, millet, etc.), dairy-free, multiple allergies. And I eat too much!
  • If you're up until one or two, why won't you eat after 9:30? And are you eating breakfast when you get up?
  • I didn't experience a lot of benefits, but then I was already eating a vegetarian, whole foods diet, and I had a number of intolerances that didn't work real well with his plan. I still follow a number of his principles, but I think that some of his ideas are . . . a bit off. That's just me.
  • Nice! PR'd my run last week, and only burned 400 in 44 minutes. Believe me, I was working hard!
  • Back in the saddle. You didn't learn to walk by giving up when you fell down. You can be strong!
  • Add me to the list for mostly whole foods, cooking from scratch.
  • $40 for a stir fry? What the heck are you putting in there?
  • You can apparently make your own tofu with beans other than soybeans. The most common seems to be chickpeas, which are used to make burmese tofu. There are recipes on the web. A lot of the vegan breakfasts online that use tofu could probably use pureed white beans or sunflower seeds. Cooking egg-free and gluten-free is…
  • I always roll my eyes over the dietary recommendations for before a race, because being vegetarian, dairy-free, and grain-free -- fruits, veggies, and beans *are* my diet. There's nothing I can eat that is not high-fibre! Pam
  • I'm a veggie woman, but my two guys (hubby and son) are veg as well. They eat the same things as I do for supper, though they do too much junk the rest of the day.
  • Yay, temps I don't have to convert to Celcius. I like running between -5 and 5C, it is so nice. Our temp was up to about 5 for my run last Monday morning, and it was so great not to have to wear a face mask or any extra layers, just to go out and run and not worry about frosting my lungs.
  • What was the temp? You certainly don't look cold.
  • When I first started running, my system would object after 1-2 km. Over time, it got more used to 5-10 km runs and I can *usually* make it 10 without a break. But anything longer than about an hour, and I have to stop for a break. If I'm out with hubby (slow run) then I find I have to plan to hit the bathroom about every…
  • Awesome, Big T. Is the little guy yours? Just think of what great shape you'll be in when he is older and wants to play football with you, instead of wondering if you are going to live long enough to see him grow up. Keep it up. Be strong.
