Introductions
Welcome all! I'm Pam, and I'm vegan, grain-free, with multiple allergies and intolerances. I run, work full time, and homeschool my LD 13 yo son. So there's not a lot of time for meal prep most nights, and I try to keep things pretty simple. With my multiple restrictions, basically everything has to be created from scratch.

Runkeeper connected Apps
I really like Runkeeper and have been using it since about July. I recently discovered iSmoothRun, and have been using it for most of my running - it tracks shoe mileage, tracks intervals, has a metronome, etc. - and it will post automatically to Runkeeper, even Runkeeper Live. I still use the Runkeeper app to record my…

RunKeeper/Pebble
RunKeeper just released their Pebble-compatible upgrade. Tried it out today, and it works! But I really noticed the difference between RunKeeper and iSmoothRun, and I want iSmoothRun to put out their Pebble update soon!

Greek Yogurt Alternatives
I see lots of recommendations here for Greek yogurt. For those of us who are dairy-free or vegan, consider dessert tofu as an alternative. (I know there are lots of soy yogurts, and some rice or coconut alternatives now as well, but all the ones available to me are thickened or sweetened with grains, so I can't have them.)…

Easter
What is everyone going to have for Easter? I am going to an Easter lunch potluck with my family and need ideas of things to take. Just throw them out there!

Easter lunch potluck
Okay, folks, what would you take to an Easter lunch potluck? I am vegan and we're dealing with a number of other allergies in addition to gluten free, but I'm interested in all ideas and will adapt as I like. What would you bring?

Easter ideas

Anemia
I know I'm pretty new to running, but I had never realized that runners could get anemia due to iron loss in sweat and heel-strike hemolysis: http://www.medbroadcast.com/channel_health_news_details.asp?news_id=29053&rss=67&rid=999999&channel_id=1017&rot=3#.UFOaiY3N-pY Anybody had any experience with this?

Favourite products
I don't use a lot of processed foods, other than canned beans or tomatoes, but I do have a few favourite products: Just about every day right now, I have buckwheat porridge using buckwheat flakes from these guys: http://www.simpletreasurefoods.com/ They will ship directly to consumer and are lovely to deal with. They also…

Grain free group
Since there didn't seem to be a grain-free group on MFP (plenty of gluten-free or paleo, but those won't necessarily suit those who are grain free) I have created one: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/8298-grain-free Come on over and share your tips and favourite grain-free recipes.

Websites
Paleo sites are also good for picking up grain free options. itspaleo.com has a really good recipe inventory. Most of the baking, though, uses almond flour, which I am allergic to. Some of my favourite sites/recipes: http://www.grainfreeliving.com/recipes/breads/99-grain-free-white-bread-rolls…

Tips on substitutions
In most recipes, you can sub arrowroot or tapioca starch for cornstarch or sweet rice flour. Other flours that you can use in the place of grain flours include buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, legume, root, or plantain flour. You can also use nut flours, but liquids and eggs in the recipe will likely have to be adjusted as…

Travel Challenge
Okay, my friends, here is my next challenge! Please forgive me if I post it to multiple lists that we share. I need to compose a meal consisting only of foods which can be found in a small-town supermarket, no cooking, soaking, or dehydrating required, no food processors or equipment, which will appeal to "normal" eaters…

Travel Challenge
Okay, my friends, here is my next challenge! I need to compose a meal consisting only of foods which can be found in a small-town supermarket, no cooking, soaking, or dehydrating required, no food processors or equipment, which will appeal to "normal" eaters (okay - worse - elderly rednecks). It needs to be: - grain free -…

Uggh!
I have a definite allergic tummy today. Ow, it's just killing me. I am so frustrated. The only thing that I had that I don't eat on a daily/weekly basis is blackberries. I've only had them a few times before, and have never shown any sensitivity to them. Now I did also have strawberries, which I can be sensitive to, but…

Stride
So yesterday and today were both 5K runs on my training schedule. I didn't know if my hubby (slow runner) would be running with me today, so I ran "fast" yesterday, to see how quickly I could complete a 5K race. I was running as fast (cadence) as I could. My intervals were cadence of 88-97, and pace from 6:18 to 7:18…

Peanut flour
I picked up some peanut flour at an African grocery store today. No nutritional facts on the package. From Rwanda. Can anyone help me figure out whether this is defatted or partially defatted peanut flour? I'm trying to figure out the calories and fat grams before I use it!

iSmoothRun
I posted a bit about iSmoothRun on the other thread. I thought I'd mention it again on its own. Today I overshot my calories by 300. So I will run this evening with iSmoothRun and set it for a 400 calorie run. That will give me another 100 calories in case I want some fruit or something before bed. You can set it for a…

New to calorie counting
Hi! I am on about my fourth day of MFP. I have never counted calories before, just tried to have a balanced diet and get enough exercise. Been through some challenges the last few years, and got back into exercising after Christmas last year. I lost a little bit of weight, not much, but I did lose inches. Then in May I…
