You cannot build muscle mass by using resistance bands. You need to lift heavy to build, you need weights, whatever is heavy for you...start there, rep it out 8-12 rep 3-5 sets...when this gets easy up the weight.

I agree....If you superset your weighlifting or circuit it, with almost no rest time in between sets, you are completing an aerobic workout..you will burn more calories this way, and still be aerobic excercise then doing boring cardio!!! If you eat 1200 calories in smarties or lean chicken breast/veggies, you will lose weight, you will look and feel like crap, but you would lose weight, your body would suffer, hair loss, skintexture changes, general health, alertness, irritability..you get it! ;) but to answer your question, a calorie is a calorie.

5'2 currently 116-118lbs..never ever a solid number..and it never should be. 7.9% body fat. I will compete in January at 110lbs and around 5-6% body fat

I'm totally blown away that people buy into the easy fix mentality. It's 2011 and people are still just as naieve as they were 50 years ago even though we have much more knowledge and information to base our decisions on....sad really.
