You can also find vegetarian cookbooks aimed at students. Those always have good, affordable meals. A lot of basics too.

If you want to switch up on rice, then try quinoa, couscous, barley, etc. You can buy a bag of it dry for cheap and it lasts for a while. I like to buy pitas or wraps and fill them with beans and veggies (peppers, corn, avocado, tomatoes.) Lentils in a tomato sauce with some veggies (I use peppers) make for a great sauce…

I was raised on the belief that lunch is a sandwich and that's it. So I had a hard time figuring out things to do once I was an adult and bored with sandwiches, and as well once I started eating cleaner. I traded sandwiches for wraps. I went through a period where I just ate a lot of things - for example, tuna, rotisserie…

I can totally relate! No matter how well I ate or how much exercise I did the weight would just not budge. It's a common side effect, a lot of people gain more weight because of the pills. It's tough, know that you're not the only one who has been frustrated by it! I really wish I had good advice to overcome the problem,…

I prefer to jump right in and exercise every day but I vary the type of exercise I do. I do an intense workout (cardio/weights, Bikram Yoga) a few days a week and then on the days I don't, I do a yoga tape or I do something like Just Dance on the Wii that gets you moving but not exerting myself.

I started drinking warm water with lemon after reading this article - http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-4769/Why-You-Should-Drink-Warm-Water-Lemon.html Every morning I boil water than squeeze half a lemon in it. I put it in a travel mug and drink it while I'm walking my daughter to the bus stop. I noticed my stomach feeling…

Like lots have said everyone is different. My roommate and I were both on Depo at the same time, I had no side effects and no weight gain, she gained a lot of weight and other physical side effects. I was on Depo for 2.5 years in my early 20's with no issues. I then went on it again in my late 20's after having two kids…

Ha! That's not my body, that's my motivation. I used to have a stomach like that, then my son came along. I had accepted that I would live with my knee pain for the rest of my life. I had to quit figure skating in my teens because of it. But they have improved so much since I started Bikram. The heat feels so good. I try…

It is very possible. Though some women after pregnancies find they end up with abdominal separation (diastasis recti) that some ab exercises can actually make worse and takes specific exercises to make better. You can do a google search to look for the ways to test if you have it. If you don't, then it's just about clean…

Oh my gosh I could eat fast food every single day if it wouldn't kill me. But it would, so I have to try really hard with this. What I try for: Mr. Sub - Veggie Sub, rarely I'll get a Turkey Sub with veggies. Harvey's (burger place) - Veggie Burger with fries Tim Horton's - Chicken Wrap What I really want: McDonalds -…

Congratulations! Back in the fall I did a similar thing and lost 8lbs in the first week. Unfortunately, I can't keep that up for an extended period of time however, it helped me make changes to my diet and I managed to keep most of it off.

Oh man, does exercise work! I don't need to medication to control my anxiety any more because of exercise. When I go through periods of being lazy and not exercising, I can feel a difference in my body. Exercise is such a release for whatever I'm storing up in my body. I'm panic attack free for 2.5 years now. And might I…

I don't know if what the guy is claiming is right or not but I do know that when I cut out milk from my diet I do better with weight loss. I take a calcium supplement with my vitamin d, so I know I'm okay on my calcium levels. There's a big joke in my family. My teenage nephew decided he would start drinking a lot more…

I do Bikram Yoga and for a quick recovery afterward I drink either Coconut Water or Emergen-C and have some fruit. Then I wait about an hour and have a full meal.

Yes Rodney Yee is amazing. There is a dvd I like called Elements AM/PM Yoga. I mostly do the PM part before bed, it's very nice and relaxing. Anything by Gaiam is really good. I find the videos that have celebrities tend to be less about the whole experience of yoga and more about exercise - for example I like The Biggest…

Hi Rosie, I too have bad knees, can't do lunges and squats, even cardio can be difficult for me (torn cartilage many times, torn meniscus, patellofemoral syndrome since I was 13.) Bikram has improved my knees so much. That being said, there is still a lot I have trouble with in class. Talk to your teacher before you start…

This is the best advice! I've been practicing for 2 years as well and sometimes I go in and can do everything, and sometimes I can barely do a thing. Every class is different and every class has it's benefits even if you feel like you didn't do much.
-
So I originally posted this when I increased my practice to 4-5 times a week and held steady at that for 6 months. I noticed no weight loss at all. Of course, no weight gain either. I did stop for a while and there was no weight gain after that either. Flexibility and energy, yes. Weight loss, no. Of course, I did notice…

What an amazing gift! You have a fantastic husband. Once in the beginning of my practice, I showed up for an early class in the summer and it was myself and two other teachers taking the class. The teacher was a competitive champion and he gave me a lot of help. It changed my practice so much getting that help!

Standing bow pulling is my strongest and I love doing it. I love the challenge and the intensity of looking into my eyes while holding the balance! I also love fixed firm. I have bad knees and could barely do it when I started. Now I love the stretch and how open it feels.

I've been vegetarian for the last 8 days! But I'm definitely in it for the long term. I do choose some vegan options when it comes to dairy, but I do enjoy milk in my tea as well as cheese and eggs. So I think I'll just continue on this path for a while.

Also google diastasis recti to see how to do the test to see if that is affecting you. If you have that muscle separation then it can be harder to lose the belly weight. And the more pregnancies you have, the higher your risk of having it happen.

In terms of craving meat - when I stopped eating beef I would crave hamburgers. Then one day I gave in and it was the worst mistake of my life. That's curbed any cravings I have now. Everyone is different. I have had a few (because I looooove chicken) but when I think about my reasons for going vegetarian, I get over it.…

In terms of eating at the homes of other people, it's not rude to say that you don't eat meat. They'll accept it. For ten years I didn't eat beef or pork which is what my MIL cooks most of the time. It was fine. I told her why I don't eat those meats and I told her to not worry about cooking something for me. I make sure…

Butter all the way. I buy organic butter or I buy Earth Balance Buttery spread (vegan). I like my foods natural, plus I much prefer the taste of butter to margarine.

I find these ladies amusing, not annoying. I'm not going to wear make up to workout because my skin will break out from the mixture of makeup with sweat. And at the age of 30, I don't need breakouts. I'm not there to impress anyone so I don't feel the need to draw attention to myself in any way. Unless it's my smoking hot…

I like flowing tops. My second pregnancy left me with a lot of weight in the belly, but nowhere else. And I don't like highwaisted jeans, I love my low rise skinny jeans. So I just wear tops that are flowing at the bottom rather than hugging my belly and it disguises that I have a muffin top! Problem solved while I workout…

That's what I love about Bikram - that it's a huge adventure! Your body goes on so many ups and downs. Over the course of my practice (11 months) I've gone through so many different periods - strong standing series/awful floor series, awful standing series/strong floor series, awful classes, amazing classes. I hit a…

It seems that lately for every winner of the Biggest Loser who has kept the weight off, there is another competitor coming forward saying that the weight loss methods of the show were dangerous and their health wasn't good. Many are saying they were dehydrated, one said recently that every time he went to the bathroom he…

With my first pregnancy I gained 40lbs. I was fairly active with walking but not much other exercise. I also ate whatever I wanted (I viewed it as my opportunity to eat well!) I lost the weight within 9 months of having her. My second pregnancy I gained 45lbs. I was really active chasing a 2 year old around, and I ate much…
