I know that if I'm lunging my horse I burn about the same as if running a half marathon as I have to chase that black fatty around the round yard the WHOLE time! I invested in a heart rate monitor so I could work out accurately what I was burning. You can buy relatively inexpensive ones and I LOVE mine!!

I use my slow cooker lots in winter. I freeze meals so that when I'm short on time I can just defrost something. That and putting every vegetable in the sun into a soup. Definitely helps!!

Do you take measurements as well?? Could it be muscle that you are gaining?? I try to only weigh myself once a month now and I don't use my numbers as a reflection of how I'm going at all as my body shape is totally changing the more I work out :)
