Good on ya! I've decided to do a team effort this year as my foot is not too good for walking or running -- but I can bike ok.

Thanks for posting this -especially not allowing the scale to take away motivation - as it is trying to today. Bookmarking this for a cheerup read along the way.

Popping into my mind - squidwards nose....

Thanks! It's been a rough journey.

I have Atkins bars. They come in different flavours and different calorie counts, but have good protien and low carbs. (High in fat though). I work one a day into my calorie limit and that satsfies the craving. In NZ we also have Jarrah cholatte drink which is only 46 cals and really nice.

I often check if the info looks wrong. I have come across Kj (Kilojoules) entered as calories, the wrong size entered and numerous other mistakes so I correct them as I go and leave a note as to why I have edited it. It does annoy me when there are multiple entries for the same thing and one or two of them are patently…

Yes you need to eat your exercise calories.

Thanks for sharing your story - I can relate to it having had a traumatic childhood and messed up teens resulting in drug addiction also. Take away the drugs and there is only food. Very brave of you to share - and you are right to not be ashamed. You have made a choice that is saving your life as I am sure sou have made a…

Not exactly a sandwich but my fav is Molenberg toast 2 slices (172 cals) with ricotta 25gms on (half on each) and a tiny blob of jam on each (5gms) Sorry cant recall the cals of the ricotta and jam - will come back with an edit. Nice low cal snack with protein in the ricotta. I dont buy lite because all those lite one…

I'm an Aucklander living in Auckland - Hi!

Awesome courage and awesome journey, thanks for sharing.

Well my goal right now is 176lbs (or 80g in my country)! I'm not too bothered what the 'norm' is or what everyone else thinks is ideal. I have been morbidly obese and slowly have lost weight (My ticker for MFP is set on when I started logging not on my original weight). So if you need a 'like-weighted' mate you can friend…

Some great ideas here... will save for later :-) Thanks

Hi - I thought I put an intro but it disappeared... Anyway I'm 58 yo live in Auckland and am currently down to 93kg. Regained some of a big loss but determined to continue to my goal. Have set this goal at 80kg but once that is achieved will set my sights on 75kg

Hang on in there it won't last too much longer. The headaches show just how bad that stuff is - a signal of detoxification. The other thing about coke is the amount of salt in it - I was amazed when I realised that. Thats what makes you thirsty for more. The stuff is pure crap and you are doing the right thing by stopping…

Chin up old girl! Come on you can do it - no need to not go because you don't have the fabulous pops. Sorry to hear about all that hard work being wasted. It seems a bit spooky that he poor reindeer came to grief - with you and the head injury and all. Just tell yourself you are welcome at any event just for who you are…

Hiya Sheen! Keep in touch in this group even if its just to wave and say 'Hi'.

Yes this particular site I was using a nickname but I guess there was somewhere where it asked for my name and I foolishly filled it in without thinking. Now a lot of sites offer to log you in using Facebook etc, and a whole new privacy nightmare begins! BTW in my real life I need publicity and go out of my way to get…

I agree MacMadame (and hope your head is recovering btw! I read your blog about the horror ride.) and it is also hard to see our own distorted thinking when it is normal for us our whole lives. Also reinforced by the diet 'industry' that keeps telling us that we need to eat minute quantities of food to lose weight. Of…

Wow more Aucklanders! Hiyas!

BTW everyone i reset my weight loss ticker to start from when i started MFP. From the start of my journey have lost 22kg as of yesterday. I would post pics only i am a bit leery re privacy. I was on another logging site a few years back and found a whole lot of my weight related stuff via google. Seriously not cool.

Yeah, daily post - good idea! I am finding that tracking my food is really helpful. It is now three weeks since i started MFP and am amazed at how much better a head space I am in. Making sure i eat all i need to for the day seems to have curbed the evening nibbles thing - even though i do have a snack, it is within my…

PCOS is a definate suspect. I take metformin as I have high levels of insulin (not high blood sugar) and when I stop taking metformin I just do not lose weight.
-
Thanks! I got my 'brag book' out the other day and looked at my before pics. Have come a long way - but still have a ways to go. I'd be happy to be 'overweight' t the moment as I am still in the obese range. Cheers

I have installed a conversion app on my ipad for this very reason. Also handy for converting Kilojoules to Calories (note dietary calories are different from mathematical calories). I noticed that some of the foods in the database have the Kilojoule number entered instead of the calorie so I always check.

I weigh every morning as soon as get up and after my morning tinkle (sorry tmi). My scales are a bit wierd and will fluctuate minute by minute so I do a 'best of three'. I probably need to get a better set of scales. [OT ] Reminds me...my food weighing scales are out ..by exactly half. If I weigh something that is 200gms…

I have noticed how much sugar i am consuming -i was quite surprised. I do eat fruit but i noticed the sugar content of my favourite yoghurts is quite high. MFP is an eye opener alright.

Well I am not 'cured' by any means but here are the things I do to quell the food beast. 1.Drink water 2.Don't keep trigger foods in the house. My SO has been told that if he wants potato chips he has to keep them in the garage out of my sight. No chocolate allowed in the house and no biscuits ....except... 3. I have…
