  • I saw a flyer today at my Bally's (one that isn't turning to LA Fitness): "Special Offer: National access only $269. Includes access to all locations. Includes daycare. _No annual fee_. Hurry offer ends soon." Anyone else seen this offer? Any idea what the terms are? I am guessing this is a come on and the "no annual fee"…
  • Even if LA Fitness honors the lifetime contracts, it will only be for LA Fitness clubs that used to be Bally's. That doesn't help those of us who had their membership transferred to LA Fitness because their home club became LA Fitness, but who don't live anywhere near a LA Fitness.
  • I'm contemplating joining Planet Fitness for $200 for 18 months. They're located across the street from the Bally's I used to go to. My hope is that within that time frame, some sort of class action suit (or perhaps the Attorney General for MA) will have forced a settlement that will allow me to use my original Bally's…
  • Actually, after this sale, Bally has no debt. So Bally's is in great shape now. But in terms of orchestrating this move to get rid of the lifetime fixed price memberships, yeah, looks like that's what they're trying to do. However, there seems to be a lot of discrepancy as to how they are really going to handle those…
  • I just tried that. The guy I got said they don't have that information anymore--that it was all transfered to LA Fitness. I gave him my account number and he could look up my name, but nothing more. Sucks.
  • This is still BS. Why should the club at which I physically signed a contract with Bally's (the national corporation) determine whether I can continue to visit Bally's clubs? At the very least, i should be offered the option of EITHER being a Bally's member OR an LA Fitness member going forward. I don't have any convenient…
  • I'm talking about a club that is remaining Bally's. It's my local club, but since the club at which my membership was purchased (in another state) is being taken over by LA Fitness, I am now a LA Fitness member. And I can't log into my LA Fitness account. It says it can't find me when I put in my info.
  • So has anyone discovered whether you can still (as of now) use a Bally's club (that is staying Bally's) with a "any club" membership that itself has been transferred to LA Fitness? Are they honoring the memberships for the next month or something?
  • That bites. It doesn't seem legal, either. Here's a question for you: Have you tried to use your membership card today at a Bally's? Are they turning people away who have these memberships?
  • It seems to me that if you have a Bally's membership, your membership agreement is with Bally's, not with the club at which you signed papers. If your membership offers use of ALL Bally's clubs, then the sale of the club at which you purchased the membership does not void the contract you have with Bally's. The…
  • I, fortunately, never did the electronic auto-payment thing. Actually, a couple of months ago, they made me some sort of offer to try to induce me to go that route--but I didn't bite. Actually, the offer they made was pretty good: They'd upgrade me to a Bally <whatever they call their premium clubs> membership if I went…
  • I am getting screwed by this takeover. I have an old "Gold" membership, originally sold by Jack LaLanne, before they were taken over by Bally's. Good for $60/year membership for a lifetime, use any club, any time. Now, that card was originally purchased at a club in New Brunswick, NJ. But I've been using Bally's in…
