Even if LA Fitness honors the lifetime contracts, it will only be for LA Fitness clubs that used to be Bally's. That doesn't help those of us who had their membership transferred to LA Fitness because their home club became LA Fitness, but who don't live anywhere near a LA Fitness.

I'm contemplating joining Planet Fitness for $200 for 18 months. They're located across the street from the Bally's I used to go to. My hope is that within that time frame, some sort of class action suit (or perhaps the Attorney General for MA) will have forced a settlement that will allow me to use my original Bally's…

I just tried that. The guy I got said they don't have that information anymore--that it was all transfered to LA Fitness. I gave him my account number and he could look up my name, but nothing more. Sucks.

This is still BS. Why should the club at which I physically signed a contract with Bally's (the national corporation) determine whether I can continue to visit Bally's clubs? I'm talking about a club that is remaining Bally's. It's my local club, but since the club at which my membership was purchased (in another state) is being taken over by LA Fitness, I am now a LA Fitness member. And I can't log into my LA Fitness account. It says it can't find me when I put in my info.

So has anyone discovered whether you can still (as of now) use a Bally's club (that is staying Bally's) with a "any club" membership that itself has been transferred to LA Fitness? Are they honoring the memberships for the next month or something?

That bites. It doesn't seem legal, either. Here's a question for you: Have you tried to use your membership card today at a Bally's? Are they turning people away who have these memberships?

It seems to me that if you have a Bally's membership, your membership agreement is with Bally's, not with the club at which you signed papers. If your membership offers use of ALL Bally's clubs, then the sale of the club at which you purchased the membership does not void the contract you have with Bally's. The…
