What a great idea, donating to a food pantry! I'm at goal and now trying to set some new goals, like MAINTENANCE!

Great progress! Keep it up! You look fantastic.

Perimenopause/menopause is different for all of us. I would say your mum is probably suffering through it now. It can take years to get through all of it but it isn't all so unbearable. My doctor said it's like a 10 year process of the body slowly working to shut down the ovaries and it is an ever changing landscape. As…

My 25 year old son swears by that lifestyle. He runs, lifts, etc. He has also slimmed down he doesn't really need to lose weight he is trying to build muscle. I just ordered "The Primal Blueprint" book through Amazon, haven't cracked it yet :/ From what little I do know I think it would be a great way of life, I just…

I had a hysterectomy at 36 and was left with one ovary which chugged a long for a bit. Perimenopause and Menopause was was HELL! I never had a weight problem until I hit my mid 40's when I was in full blown menopause. According to my doctor her average patient gains 20lbs and up to 20 inches during the 10 year span known…

I agree you look the same in both photos. Not sure what the problem is, but I'm guessing it is in your head. No offense but you may need professional help, apparently a lot of women have issues with body image that need professional help. Congratulations on the 40 lbs, you look amazing!

Since we can't see your food diary, I am assuming you are eating a good amount of protein, lots of green leafy veggies, a piece of fruit, maybe some nuts, or avocados. 1200 Calories is very doable and you can feel great but the food has to be decent. 1 lb. per week is great progress especially if you are seeing a loss…

Congrats you look AWESOME! Ha! Don't feel stupid, posting pics is a PITA! Or maybe I'm just technically challenged!

You look AMAZING! Congrats on the hard work and dedication and NOT GIVING UP when you were frustrated and stuck You worked around it and you found what worked for you! You are going to be a BEAUTIFUL fit and healthy bride!

Obviously you have done a whole lot of something right to lose 100+ lbs. Congratulations! I know several people who have and the surgery and EVERY one of them hit the wall. Weight loss is HARD no matter the road you choose. Surgery may give you the added boost to get motivated and moving in the right direction but it…

you look AMAZING! 60lbs in 8 months is phenomenal. some days are really hard, and the motivation can really seem hard to hold onto. You are so worth the effort, so hang in there and do this for YOU!

1200 calories is what most women start out with here. Make sure your food is nutrient rich, and limit the processed junk.

You look amazing and you have obviously worked very hard this past year. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your success, it's nice to read success stories. Wishing you much continued success!

Some people on here find it their God given right to expound on lots of subjects here. Especially 1200 calories or below eaters. You just have to ignore the "haters" and the "know it all's" they are everywhere. Just go about your plan your way. What I find so interesting is that years ago people ate at minimal levels. Of…

When I belonged to the YMCA they had someone there who would do the caliper body fat test. I'm sure they can help you out.

I would say most people on here have really full lives. Working out is a choice. You either make the choice or you don't. "If it's important you find a way and if it's not you find an excuse." Have that quote stuck in my head. It is difficult to work a sedentary job, take classes, care for a family and make wise choices.…

I'm not a slim fast kind of girl. However I certainly understand that you need a jump start as I felt the same way when I started here, if I could just get the first week to show a loss I'd take it from there. If you think it might help you short term go for it. This is such a mental journey and 90% of this is getting your…

Great Job! You both look amazing! Congratulations on your beautiful daughter!

I'm 53, soon to be 54 and have lost 35lbs. and 24 inches since June 6, 2012. The first week I lost the most, (water weight) however it was enough to kick my butt into gear. There were many weeks I stayed the same. It seems like I am on a lose 2 lbs, stay the same for 10 days, lose some more. It has been SLOW compared to my…

Glad you found what works for you! I've done (and am currently doing) 1200 calories and it works for me. I also work with a trainer twice a week, lifting and I'm building muscle and endurance. I work in cardio as my schedule allows. I enjoy walking more for emotional and stress relieving benefits. Everyone is different. No…

What a great problem to have! But, yes you should buy some new panties and pants!!!

The smaller you get the tougher it can become. It's not impossible just keep at it. I can get awfully tiresome being stuck with no real movement on the scale. Hang in there, you can do it!

Great job! Such an inspiration!!!

well you could take that road. OR you could rein it in and try to gain some control. that's totally up to you. i would say for most of us once we start sliding down that slippery slope it's hard to stop. hang in there...

I'm 53 and since June 6, 2012 I have lost 35 lbs. through logging every bite of food and working out. I started out walking and a couple of months ago a friend and I hired a trainer two days per week, who kicks our butts. It is possible, and your body reacts so quickly to working out. It has amazed me how quickly my body…

I'm 53 and I know how hard it is after 50 to firm up. It is hard to not gain weight or inches especially in the midsection. My gyno told me it isn't unusual to gain 20 lbs or 20 inches or both at menopause. Hormones and lack of them cause your body to store fat much differently. As you said it has always been a problem…

Being able to wear a smaller pair of pants you haven't had on in years is BETTER than seeing that number go down on the scale, in my book! Congrats!
