It's both. Artery=vessel that carries oxygenated blood. Vein=vessel that carries oxygen depleted blood. The heart is both: 1.) pumps oxygen depleted blood to the lungs and receives oxygenated blood back 2.) pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body and receives oxygen depleted blood back Yes.....if you look at the…

Walking will help to keep your veins and arteries healthier. Not the heart though, for that you need something more stressful (e.g. aerobics). So yes, walking helps with fitness. Generally speaking, 10 thousand steps a day is a good day. Walking also burns more calories than sitting still. Keeping a healthy weight…

you realize you've spent more time and energy posting to the forums, than you do tracking your food and exercises. Imagine if ya' just got up and moved, instead of posting hundreds of times per month.

Agree. Personal responsibility. Thus, you need to: 1.) Become an expert in food additives and processing, because you can't trust the manufacturer to tell you all the facts. 2.) Become an expert in chemistry and microbiology and test all your food before eating, because you can't trust the manufacturer to insure the safety…

Yep....a lot of get quick rich companies in the weight loss industry. My approach 3 years ago, was slow and steady (approx. 300 calorie deficit per day) for several years. It retrained my eating habits, instead of starving myself. If I was overly active (I wear a fitbit and log exercises when I do them), I'd eat those…

Maybe because ingredient list rules allow a vendor to report a value that is "close to" the real value in the product. It would be unreasonable to require that each food "batch" be tested and new ingredient list generated for each batch. The values of input products can vary (e.g. a lemon from California may be slightly…

Dad used to be stationed at Ft. Hood (near Waco). Bummer about the BIG drought in Texas.

Man's success on this planet has more to do with the size of his heart, than the size of his treasure or weapons.

I've eaten many brands. The best (taste and health quality) are those that: 1.) Have only peanuts on the ingredients list. 2.) Have to be stirred A LOT to get the oil mixed back in. I use a hand held mixer for item 2. Only need to stir once, when jar is first opened. Takes a long time.....10 minutes or so.

Good for you Ritchibulk. This time you qualified with the word "probably", instead of an absolute statement that it wouldn't kill her. I commend you for amending your reply to match the reality some people face. I sometimes speak before fully thinking thru my words. I find it very beneficial for me and the recipient of my…

The typical sequence would be for the mean spirited to escalate the verbal abuse to death and rape threats. Very civilized.......NOT!

My opinions on why many people are so mean; 1.) They are addicted to their own adrenalin. When they engage in conflict, adrenalin starts to flow, the body gets a rush of energy and heightened awareness. So they like conflict. 2.) It makes them feel "better than thou". By concentrating on the specks in other people's eyes,…

I'm no expert, but I'd say your original post showed GREAT composition! Very readable, intelligible. Concepts around the topic were coherent and flowed well! Signed, IT-Science-Not-an-English-major-American.

Google search "definition of healthy" returns a fair number of hits, many from dictionaries. So....it appears the definition of health IS on the Internet. I like the beginning of the World Health Organization definition: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of…

I became lactose intolerant about 10 years ago. I love dairy, so now I take lactaid pills (lactose digestive enzyme) before a meal with dairy. Works great!

Sit ups, pull ups, chin ups, deep knee bends, squats.....etc. The basics get you going and work great. When ur ready to "sculpt", then spend money. Also, some people won't actually do the work (important if your going to benefit from a "work"out) unless they've invested a bunch of money. And some of those still fall off…

Two home made belgian waffles (frozen). Freshly milled wheat. Made with honey instead of sugar. With a glass of milk, butter, and syrup, it runs around 800 calories.

Is hair loss normal for the older women in your family? Mother? Grandmother? Great grandmother? If they lost their hair (usually up to extreme thinning in women, not total loss), then perhaps you're just following in their footsteps (hair loss is inherited via the female line).

My wife washed her FitBit and the company replaced it for free. I've heard other people say the same. Give it a try!

I'm exercising my free market right to not buy gas (ultimate goal). My commute is 76 miles per day. I drive a converted (plug-in) Prius. Currently shopping for an all electric for the wife. I have no electric bill. I have solar panels on the house. Its fun driving on sunshine. I know too much about geology and economics to…

Love the beach. Love the water even more. I almost always go with dive gear (SCUBA or Free). Sometimes, I take the dive kayak. Sunscreen, for sure. Almost always take the spear gun, in case I have a shot at a halibut. Which brings us back to food and fitness. Diving burns a lot of calories. Laying on the beach with a…

I like Sprout's low fat cereal bars (strawberry and blueberry). They do have cane sugar which, while natural sugar is just as bad as refined sugar as far as I know. Overall, 140 cal. per bar.

Under "My Home" click the "Check-in" tab. Scroll down to the bottom of the measurements, and click on "Edit previous entries" (or something like that). Make a weight entry for the historical date you want to track from. This worked for me a long time ago when I first joined MFP.

Got it. Not really a post about milk. Which reminds me, nice fishy.

OP......have you become lactose intolerant? 10% of people of European extraction become lactose intolerant in latter life. Flatulance can be a symptom of lactose intolerance.
-
you go to reply to an OP post on MFP, and can't remember why you clicked reply.

Then.....I promise not to ask you any questions.
