What?!?

Sports. Completely clumsy and awkward. Usually a beer or two fixes that, though.

Sounds like you've already decided, but just to put my opinion in the mix: I've been through at least three rounds of "Plan to Protect" which is essentially teaching safe/legal behaviour for adults working with children. I recognize all the appropriate ways that you have outlined to discipline and show affection. IF in…

I must be hard-hearted - no crying, no fussing, no over-coddling. 2 kids both made it through just fine and if you ask them if they were traumatized by it they'd look at you as if you'd grown wings out your ears. I do understand the whole "don't want to hurt my child" thing, I just recognize that I am the parent and…

I'm not necessarily proud to watch TV, but the shows I like to watch over and over again: Arrested Developement MythBusters Adventure Time with Finn and Jake

From Calgary...moved to Airdrie about 10 years ago but still work there! You can add me as well!

Big Flames fan here - getting harder each year, but I'll stick with them! Secondly, my dad taught me that all good Canadians (West of Toronto that is!) should cheer for the Leafs. And it doesn't hurt that I have some family ties to a certain young goaltender! And as a last resort I cheer for the Caps because the son of…

I'm not the first to say it - but wow, I"m in love! I edit all the time, but I will NOT point it out to you and make you feel like an idiot. I will just ignore you.

I think I could live on these alone...

I remember reading about this once and crying myself to sleep. I change my sheets regularly because just the thought of crawly little bugs everywhere is enough to make me sleep on the couch and then where would I sit to watch TV?

Nikes when I run outside, Reeboks on the treadmill and flip-flops on my elliptical at home.

Yep, I'm this way too! Although I will admit that occasionally I have just given up and added quick calories or just stopped entering what I've eaten for the day! But I've never had any of my friends make me feel bad for what I've eaten yet, and I've been doing it for over a year now!

The only thing I remember doing on my hands and knees as a child of 6 was pretending to be a turtle and I recall the horrible rugburn on my nose because of it. I cannot fathom any 'exercise' as an adult with the intention of weightloss that I would willingly participate in and therefore need to count calories while doing.…

All the window sills, gah - dead bugs, dirt/dust frozen and melted off, spider webs. Ick. Sounds like I live in a log cabin, but I'm in the basement of a split level so all my windows are level with the ground!

Wow, five kids - I've got two and feel like I need at least a third arm! I too need all the support I can get, I've been trying to do this whole thing on my own for way too long. Congrats on the weight loss and the change to a healthier lifestyle!

I'm in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada - just about 15 minutes north of Calgary. And I am not a cowgirl!

I found a pair (size 10 as well) of these last year and fell in love as well! I felt like going back and buying more just to keep them in my closet! I have wider feet and hate when sneakers end in toe points! Now if only I could somehow find the magical land of pointy-toed stilettos that don't make me look like a clown.…

Peanut butter may just be the world's most perfect food. That is all.

Me too, but I'm scared that they're going to jump on me for counting it as water...

  I knew I should NOT have come here - my love affair with PB was getting overheated and I decided we needed a break, so I gave it up for Lent. This thread has been like sneaking porn at work (or what I imagine that would be like, seeing as I've never done that). Forget Easter dinner, I'm going to use every…

Hi all, I'm Laury, I have a 15 year old son and an almost 13 year old daughter. Been doing it on my own for 12 years (officially divorced for 11. Shortly after the divorce went through my ex turned to his first love (drugs) and ended up in jail where he should be for a very, very long time. I've loved being mom to my kids…

I totally agree. There needs to be ways of screening that are fair for those wanting to adopt, foster or go with surrogacy. Just cause you know how to make a baby doesn't mean you should - that applies to EVERYONE no matter married, single, straight or gay, colour, culture or age. Until they can find a way to have everyone…

Wow, your mom is amazing, auntiebabs! And a great example for me with my kids. My mom and I (and my gramma, aunt and sister) have a tendency towards plumpness and an appetite for foods that don't lend themselves well to thinness! So as we both struggle to change our eating habits we are aware of how my teenage son and…

Thank you. I have laughed, cringed, drooled and hurled then laughed again.

It only takes one bad situation for the system to get scared and shut it down for everyone. You are right, there are definitely great guys out there who would make amazing dads, especially for kids who don't have anyone and it isn't fair that they don't even give you the option. And there are single moms who should be…

I'm a bit biased, but we have a few dietitians where I work and although they mostly deal with changing diet for pregnancy or for dealing with chronic conditions I've been able to pick up a few things that I had no clue about. Even learning about portions/serving sizes. I don't think it would be a waste of time or money -…

That could be quite problematic in most anxiety-causing situations.

Did I mention I'm really passive aggressive?

If I can't understand why someone would do something I wonder out loud (you know, the outside voice pretending to be a whisper) - drives my teenage son nuts... "I wonder why that person who looks physically complete and doesn't have a handicap pass on his vehicle is parking there, maybe he's mentally handicapped" or "I…

No judging... graham cookies dipped in cream cheese icing. Somehow I feel much better when I don't drown emotions in icing.
