Fat is definitely not the enemy and eating fat doesn't mean you're not eating clean. In fact most of us are doing 30%-35% fat in our diet. That means 70g of fat for me each day. As long as you're still within your calorie goal, there is no need to be worried about fat. Fat is also satiating. Avocados and nuts are…

I'd be sceptical that someone who doesn't want to eat above 1200 now would then want to switch into a bulk cycle. But I see your point. Given that we lose a % of muscle mass every year that we age above 20 (or whatever it is - happy for someone to correct me), the healthier (and less hangry) thing to do would be to try and…

Wow. Just wow. My BMR is 1400, and if I sit at my desk all day (sedentary) my TDEE is 1900. Get your facts straight please. Also, nobody is trying to scare anyone. Why eat 1200 per day if you can lose eating between BMR and TDEE?

Catch 22 though, as you'll need to significantly increase your calories to "make more". I'm assuming you're talking about gaining lean muscle mass? Why would you want to lose it and have to gain it back again when you could simply increase your calories to a reasonable level now, lose slower and have a better chance or…

Hi there, welcome! All of your questions have been answered in the stickies on the front page of the group's forum. Best sit down and have a really good read of them.

You have a fantastic attitude towards this and congrats on losing all that weight!! Definitely a good plan for your to increase slowly and then it might be a good idea for you to have a look at doing a reset for at least 8 weeks. Unfortunately when you up your calories a little gain on the scale is inevitable... until your…

I'm actually really worried now. I have been netting less than 600 calories a day and I haven't lost a pound in 1 day but I use real lipstick. Not even Chapstick. Not even STRAWBERRY CHAPSTICK. Is there more calories in lipstick than chapstick? I once heard that lipstick was made of pig fat. But I have to wear it or people…

YEP. All my early twenties I didn't want babies, then suddenly a couple of years ago the switch flicked on and I am so damn clucky that my boyfriend jokingly watches me take my pill every night so he knows I've taken it!!! Not just yet for us, but I seriously CAN'T WAIT to be pregnant!!!
-
You are so right. Unfortunately our culture/media doesn't help much with that one either. Everyone wants the quickest, the easiest, the "lose 20 pounds yesterday" fixes. Thank god for those that are enlightened and those that want to learn.

Disagree completely. You should never have to keep lowering and lowering your cals. Low cal = weight loss = muscle loss. You want to strength train and eat more for muscle gain and FAT loss. Who wants to lose weight if you're not losing fat?
-
5'3 and 2100 cals here for muscle gain + fat loss. Never hungry, always happy, body composition always improving. Lift heavy and EAT.
-
Um... EAT. You don't have to be hungry to lose fat. I'm losing on 2100 calories per day. Lift heavy, eat, sleep, repeat.

Ohhhh that sucks!!! I must confess I did cheat a bit. The gadget itself is similarly expensive in Australia but I bought it from the US website and got it shipped to my uncle who lives there as they don't ship to Oz. you could always do the same and use one of those international postage assistance websites to then get it…

Sounds like you're definitely on the right track now!! Great work :) You also need to start measuring with more than the scale. Eating more + heavy lifting will usually give you no change on the scale, or even an increase (like me). You need to look at inches & photos. Sometimes even inches stay the same while composition…

I have reduced carbs & increased protein so I'm at 30/35/35 (c/p/f). I have a feeling that I am a bit susceptible to insulin resistance due to family history and have generally found over time that less carbs work better for my body in terms of fat loss. But in no way would I ever go "low carb".

FYI the BMF subscription is a small $6 per month. And the first few months are free. I don't see it as that big of a deal but understand that others may.
-
So, so true!! I now have a 3 year plan with my body lol. I'm definitely in this for life now. Very happy for you to have found the joy :)
-
That was one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. I'm so happy to hear that you're almost back in full health. What a beautiful husband you have.
-
If I'm still awake after he's gone to sleep, he'll wake up suddenly, still half asleep, look over and realise I'm next to him, grab me like it's the first time he's ever seen me, and tell me that I'm the most beautiful girl he's ever seen and that he loves me more than anything in this world. :blushing:
-
yes, definitely. if you want real changes to your body comp, then you need to cut down on the cardio big time. all it does is chew up the muscle that you're trying to hard to earn on your lifting days. i'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, i used to enjoy it SO much too. now i don't like it much at all. lol but…
-
No need for such high burns at the gym. Strength training is hugely important and burns a lot, lot less. Much easier to net your BMR and the changes in your body will be much more significant than cardio, which has the ability to catabolize muscle. Also, lifting will make you HUNGRY!! Trust me  EM2WL highly…
-
You are the coolest!! you've got the perfect attitude towards everything. I'm really excited for you!! Just bear in mind that if you're about to start NROLFW the scale really may not move at all during cut (it may go up, as it did for me, and FYI hasn't gone back down since!). So that is definitely the addiction you're…
-
How long have you been on the new routine? If you're talking a few days then yes, inches gained could definitely be a possibility from fluid in your muscles. If we're talking a few weeks, with a deficit... hmmm maybe you've cut too much. Was your weight stable by the end of your reset?
-
FR sent. I definitely, definitely DEFINITELY know how to eat
-
Happy sigh! This is what it's all about! Reading that made me soooo happy. I'm so happy for you, R!!!! :flowerforyou:
-
Oh wow, fantastic results!!! who cares what the scale says if your inches are moving!! I'd love to know what your carb macro is set to. Yeah I've been thinking I might start being a bit more vocal with it.... Occasionally I post about it on my newsfeed but maybe we should start bringing more attention to it on the forum. I…
-
You're welcome! Oh wow, yes that is definitely a response from your body indicating that it has overcompensated on insulin from an overly-carb day, pulls out all the insulin it has, sends it around your body to counteract all the sugar in your blood, leaving you with low blood sugar again, craving more carbs. Sounds like…

So all these people consistently netting under BMR and complaining of things like hair loss, hormonal issues, changes in mood/temperament, fatigue.... things that all go away once they start eating properly again... are you going to try and tell me that those things are completely unrelated to a very low calorie diet?
-
It's not a myth at all. Of course you can eat below your BMR. But knowing what you know about it, why would you ever want to? Why would you ever want to consider eating below the amount of calories your body needs to survive in a coma? Why would you want to deprive your organs and muscles the fuel they require? Why would…
