I have two goal numbers (and they're subject to change)... Weight and body fat. I chose both based on "the charts" at www.healthstatus.com Really, I just decided to be in the middle of the "ideal" charts for both fat/weight.

Ignore it!!! If you're meticulous about logging your calories and exercise, and you're hitting your goals, then you're on your way to success. No matter what the scale says. The scale can betray you... hormonal changes, sodium intake, bowel contents, etc can all wreak havoc on the numbers from day to day. You might also…

Ouch! I've felt your pain. What fixed me was inexpensive over-the-counter orthodics. I tried the custom made podiatrist version ($400) without relief... but the $20 http://www.footminders.com/ version fixed me. I have them in every pair of shoes I wear. Good luck!

You're doing great! Keep up the hard work! :)

I believe that a weekly "cheat" day is important. If it works for you. I use mine to splurge when out with friends or to enjoy some cocktails. In general I try to keep my total weekly calories under goal. Even with the cheat day. That means that during the week, I don't always eat back my exercise calories. My cheat day…

I like P90X. If that proves too much, start with Power90. Both are available from beachbody.com Good Luck!

If you're peeing often and this is new for you, I would think more about urinary tract infections (especially for females) or diabetes (in both females and males). Both can be easily screened for by your doctor. In older men, a large prostate may prevent you from completely emptying your bladder and thus with less reserve,…

HRM are not very accurate for non-cardio activities such as resistance training. You can google the topic for a complete discussion. Fact is, you're not buring very much during weight training. I no longer count resistance training towards calories burned as my priority remains fat loss. Good luck!

Congrats! But... Atkins is not a long term solution for fat loss. In fact, long term, on Atkins you're almost certain to fail. Plus, your muscles need carbs to rebuild after exercise. So, while you might lose weight on Atkins, you're going to lose sig lean mass too. Interesting that you found that you lost an inch with…

Fresh is great. Canned is mush.

Probably! Most folks, me once included, have no idea how many calories are being consumed on a day to day basis ... until you take the time to think about them, log and review them. And, hopefully, learn from the process. Off topic a bit ... I've come to realize that I can't be an "auto pilot" eater. If I do that, I just…

Great job! Now to transition to maintenance. Good luck. Let the journey continue :)

I actually just posted a "before" and “current” pic on my profile this morning. It seems that picture posting has been on my mind for some time but vanity kept me from following through. I’m pleased with the current me, but you can’t see the huge (no pun) difference without the old picture. For the last few days I've…

I have several meals that are repeated frequently. My fave is my fruit and protein shake in the morning!

In my brain, I'm fat. I hope that isn't always the case. Every time I see a picture of my current self, I actually have to take pause. It doesn't quite register right in my head that I'm the not-fat guy.
