I have one. I like it. It's accuracy is not too bad (for me) compared to calipers. If I do the caliper testing, the results are close. Not sure about comparison to MRI, Dex, Bod Pod, etc. I think it's a good tool for trending one's body fat. I generally test several times first thing in the morning, about once a month.…

I would like to do a little body re-composition. That is, lower my body fat from the current 13% to less than 10% while increasing my muscle mass. It's hard not to obsessively watch the scale. From a mirror perspective, I've lost just about all the weight I needed to lose. I just bought a bunch of size 32 jeans that fit…

I've used WW, CalorieKing and MFP. CK and MFP are by far, more flexible and easier to follow. It's free. Plus, I found the MFP mobile app makes keeping up your diary (which is key) much easier. In any case, it you stick to what ever plan you choose, you'll find success. Good luck!

OMG. I am just now, after 8 weeks, finally able to run again. The foam roller didn't do much for me. I finally broke down and did the PT thing. Five visits over two weeks. Was VERY helpful. The trigger point release and learning better stretches really made a difference for me. I already do plenty of squats and lunges.…

I copied this from someone else but don't know who so I can give proper credit, but it's full of some really great stuff... The Most Dreaded Word In Weight Loss: Plateau- In the world of weight loss, metabolism is king. Everybody seems to know that a fast one is a good one. Yet, some confusion arises when confronted with…

Awesome! Congrats :)

Sounds like you're on track. Might be worth it to pay a trainer for a session or two just to check your technique and maybe set you up with a program. Good luck!

In what world is it ok to intentionally put your 13 and 18 year old sons at risk for (1) losing your mother and (2) in a position where you have to take care of your mother? It is one thing where "bad *kitten* happens", it's entirely different when one does it on purpose. Sick-o. Selfish.

Awesome! Congrats. You look amazing :)

M / 48 / 189 / 10 underhand / 8 overhand wide I recently completed P90X. On "Legs & Back" day last week the routine alternates between some form of max rep pull-ups and leg exercises. My total pull-ups in one hour was 67.

The lat pull down bar works great! It's especially helpful if you're just starting out and are working on improving strength. I also use a lighter weight sometimes when I've maxed out body weight pull ups but want to get in more reps. Good luck!

I saw an old picture of myself the other day. Honestly, I had no idea I was that fat. It was rather embarrassing.

I just recently completed P90X and am now doing P90X/Insanity Hybrid, plus running/walking for extra cardio on strength days. I believe that P90X is a very good program. I like it mostly because it is well thought-out and balanced. Stick with it, watch your diet, and you'll have great success. As for doubling up on your…

I'm in the Strength => Cardio camp. I try to do some cardio everyday, but only strength train on alternating days. And I never do anything on an empty stomach. I tend to poop out too fast if I go at it hungry. :) Works for me. Good luck!

Weight... Your weight on a day to day basis can change quite a bit. It has more to do with your electrolytes, bowel contents, hormones, etc. So I wouldn't get hung up on an occasional unexpected up/down swing. As long as you're sticking to your program, you're going to see ongoing improvements over the long term. Cheat…

Nothing's changed but the body fat to muscle ratio in our relationship. For both of us the numbers are moving in a very healthy direction. Most of the people I know do not fit well into either of the feminine/masculine personality types you suggest. It's hard for me to see how body fat or de/conditioning would have an…
